Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

Good sunny morning and welcome to March! Going to be 60 degrees today,, 70 by the weekend. That means that next week it will drop down to the 30's and 40's again.

@footballmouse--same dinner plan here tonite as you had last nite, but I do my own bbq glaze on frozen salmon filets. Going to have steamed broccoli and maybe rice.

@Pea-n-Me and @PollyannaMom--I try not to look at any news. Not much of it is good anymore, it's all sad or bad, so I just don't watch. I know the gist of what is going on in the world, but anymore than that would be too much for me

Mr L has appts at both clinics this morning..his PCP gave him a script for some eyedrops yesterday, his eyes are watering, and she gave him a scrip for antibiotic just to make sure the cellulitis isn't coming back. His leg was a little red yesterday, but then again he had short compression socks on and they were a little too tight

@tqzdev3225--glad your remodel is almost done,,it's been a long time since you've been working on it. Glad you like your new furniture, just sorry that your grandsonson didn't get all of his work finished on it before it came. We were having cable issues a few months ago like yours,,pictures were either not there, pixelated, or kept getting black screens saying 'video unavailable'. They figured out that it was a break in one of their lines in one of the towers somewhere.. They put everything underground now, but we still get the video unavailable every now and then. But at least the stations are all there, and no more pixels,,that is very annoying!

I have already gathered trash, put 2 loads of laundry in, made Mr L's breakfast, did the dishes, and changed out the litterboxes. Off to his appts we go..and a short stop at Giant..they have coke on sale, and I want to try that Starlight Coke if they have it

Have a nice day everyone

Good morning.

A shift at church today then meeting Sarah for some retail therapy. Dinner tonight is subs from Capriotti's. The Wesley Foundation, the Methodist Campus ministry at our church, usually has a sub sale on Super Bowl Sunday to raise funds for their spring mission trip. They were unable to do that because of COVID so have a fundraiser at Capriotti's. They receive 20% of every purchase today if Wesley is mentioned. Win-Win.

DD is getting a good tax refund so wants to plan a trip to WDW in August, to which we are invited. I am going to need a crash course in WDW now compared to the last time we went. DD is a planner so I really don't have to do much. She is looking at a VRBO in Davenport FL that is significantly cheaper than even Pop Century, and has better bedroom arrangements for sleeping with kids. We have been in August and the heat/humidity is no worse than Maryland so not a problem. I did start looking at restaurants in the parks, and WOW!, the prices. No Be Our Guest or Cinderella's Castle for us.

Have a good day and stay away from the news.

Good morning. Bit chilly today but not freezing, to me anyway.

Cable is fixed. My grandson evidently split the cable pulling up the old floor. That cable had to be 20 years old, so it needed replacing anyway. I swear the picture actually looks better than it had before on the bedroom TV. The downstairs TV still needs to be replaced. One of the reasons I have been staying upstairs. The wide green line was starting to annoy me.

Food shopping is done. I cannot believe how much things are going up and all the supply issue signs in my store. I may start checking out Sam's Club. It's the closest big box store and my daughter swears by it. Of course she is feeding 3 boys; 1 is a teenager and the youngest eats more than she does at 6. I wish I had his metabolism. I have seen Ben eat meals that an adult male would eat and be hungry 10 minutes later, yet he is in the 10th percentile for weight. I complain I need to lose weight but then I bought a 4 pack of Double Coconut Easter Eggs. I LOVE those eggs.

Heading out later to pick up a few things I need for downstairs. I have 3 cats and a dog, so I want to get some protectors for the arms of the new furniture. I bought a can of something that is supposed to deter scratching, but I am heading to the dollar store to get a spray bottle. The cats like to scratch. I have tried scratching posts, but they prefer the carpets and furniture. I am going to break them if it kills me. My mom is going to make me some protectors for the arms as soon as she gets a chance. I may be checking out material since there is a JoAnne's Fabric in the shopping center of one store I am heading too.

I haven't been watching the news, it is too depressing. Between the Ukraine invasion, the continued gun violence in Philly - a woman was shot and killed by stray gunfire this morning on a route I traveled quite a bit for food distribution, the uptick in car break-ins in my neighborhood and the violent car jackings in the area, I have decided to concentrate on happy things.

Don't forget your donuts - it's Fastnacht Day. This was a big tradition in my family since my grandfather was 100% German. I once walked 2 miles in a blizzard to the closest Dunkin Donuts only to walk back home empty handed because they closed due to the blizzard. We fried Pillsbury biscuits and tossed them in powdered sugar and cinnamon. They were so good, much better than Dunkin. I'm taking the boys to Krispy Kreme later today since I have coupons.

Have a good day.

Good Morning and Happy March,

ITA with you, Lynn, about the news. A reminder with love to all: "Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." John 14:27 NKJV. You (None of us) are ever alone. I just typed into Google "March Daffodil" after learning the daffodil is this month's flower. For each of you. To me this flower is a burst of sunshine-y cheer and an extra assurance of the above Scripture. I pray both bring you peace.

I will check back later.

Hey everyone, how's it going? Nice day out there today...at least it looks like it from my office window!

The shower was a joyful occasion. Lots of good food and nice gifts. DD had made a trivia contest which was a hit. Then DS and DDIL had made a Wordle to reveal the baby's name. The group got the name in 3 tries - Martin.
Sounds wonderful, so glad your DIL is having this experience. I have a baby shower to go to next month - I can't recall the last time I was at one!
Well, the vacation with my friend is a go!
Have fun!
March is always "mixed bag" when it comes to the weather.
Isn't that the truth. We've started poking around the yard looking for bulbs that are poking their heads up, and buds on the trees. One day it's nice, the other it's crap.
The furniture came today and I love it
Oh good, you've been talking about that for a while. Glad you are happy with it.
I am fearful that today is going to be a very bad news day.
I've been listening on & off all day. That was some great speech Zelenskyy gave to the EU, he's just become this inspiring leader that no one ever thought he had in him. Putin is being upstaged and coming off wackier than usual and I'm wondering how much he will take before he goes bats*&t crazy? If Putin makes him a martyr I think it's going to hit the fan.
Going to be 60 degrees today,, 70 by the weekend. That means that next week it will drop down to the 30's and 40's again.
We've got similar weather coming up over our way as well. 75 on Monday!
Dinner tonight is subs from Capriotti's. The Wesley Foundation, the Methodist Campus ministry at our church, usually has a sub sale on Super Bowl Sunday to raise funds for their spring mission trip.
yum, I'll have my usual - small Bobbie :thumbsup2 The local VFD usually has a monthly sub sale as a ongoing fundraiser in the spring/summer/early fall AND they'll even deliver to the office, and the subs are pretty good, too. I hope they do it again this year - they didn't last year.

Hope everyone is doing well. Busy few days for us. Had a good Saturday evening with a bonfire and the kids. Sunday - long story short - we picked up a 9 month old puppy that was deemed not a good breeding prospect by this shady as hell breeder. She's completely without manners - although she is somewhat house & crate trained. I don't think she's had much in the way of fresh air & exercise. She hadn't had any vet attention - until the person took her to a local free spay clinic held by a local SPCA, where they gave her a rabies shot. So she's soon to go for a full work up at our vet. She's a bundle of energy who can't wait to play with our big dog but she's still recovering from her spay, so we've been doing daily evening walks so they get to know each other better. No way I was leaving her in the situation she was in (which we didn't realize was what we were walking into when we started out that day) so it would appear we have another dog! She's considerably small for her breed, but that is okay since we wanted a smaller dog. Wish us luck with this one!

So - has anyone every had a CT (CAT?) scan? I've got to get one a week from Friday. My appt. is at 2, but they told me to be there by 12 to drink something (greeeeat...) and asked me if I had any issues getting a IV? I do have mental issues - I've got a needle phobia when it comes to IV's and getting blood work. Give me a shot? No problem! Want my blood vessels? Oh hell no! I am also not to eat anything for 4 hours prior, although clear liquids are okay. Anyway - I'm not sure what to expect. I'm not claustrophobic so if it's inside something that doesn't bother me. I'm not sure what they have me drinking though, that doesn't sound to great. It's a abdominal scan.

Last night was sautéed shrimp over salad. This evening will be chili if I can get it together in time. If not I'm not sure what we will have- I even got beans for my husbands portion, I don't like them so I'll split it after I make it and add his.

Time to go - see you guys later.

Yes, have had CTs. They’re not bad - better than MRIs, which take a lot longer. The drinks are usually flavored and also aren’t too bad. The techs are usually pretty good with putting in IVs pretty quickly. Try to take deep breaths and don’t bear down while it’s going in. Coming out it’s easy except for tape. CT itself just takes a few mins and you’re not enclosed. You’ll be ok! Great news about the pup!

Happy March all. DH and I got to our hotel late last night, about an hour on our way out of town, DH realized he forgot his CC on the counter so we had to turn around to go back and get it. Oh well. LOL
Worked out because we ended up getting a really nice room, one I'm not sure they would've given us if we had arrived earlier. LoL We have a corner room and it's huge, with 5 giant windows. It's so nice and bright. You can see 4 of them in this pic...the 5th was to the right behind me.
651202

The other good thing about yesterday and the reason the CC got left on the counter is we booked our weekend cruise right before we left. Woohoo:banana: April 1st-4th. DH, myself and our really good friends. We leave from Los Angeles, have a day at sea, day in Ensenada,Mexico and then home the next day. Our last cruise was 2018 and for our friends it's been longer....we're so excited.

The shower was great.
Loved the pics...looks like a great time.

I know Chris will be there with us so that helps.
He most definitely will and with all the signs you get now, I'm sure there will lots on your trip too. :grouphug:

Well, the vacation with my friend is a go! We booked everything yesterday, headed to Treasure Island, Fl. in July. Just a long weekend laying on the beach will be great. :beach:
Sounds amazing. So glad your all booked.

It is supposed to be 80 for the best 3 days.
Enjoy it because I think I heard we're supposed to get cool again next week.

I hope to ahold of someone before the end of the day.
I hope you were able to get the flowers sent. Such a sweet thing to do, I love getting flowers and never get them so i end up buying them for myself. LOL

The cable went crazy today.
Glad to hear its been fixed and you're enjoying your new furniture.

I am fearful that today is going to be a very bad news day. 😣 Feeling rather helpless. Hard to think of much else.
Its so depressing...:grouphug:

DD is getting a good tax refund so wants to plan a trip to WDW in August, to which we are invited.
My sister and BIL are hoping to take my niece in Aug too. I'm also invited but not sure I could handle the humidity....lol I'm a true desert girl and don't do well with humidity.

@lynxstch hopefully Mr L is feeling better.

Wish us luck with this one!
Ohhh....good luck with the new pup...I really hope she works out for you guys. As I was reading, I was wondering if it was a foster. I'm not sure if I've had a CT scan or MRI...I had to drink something and I can't remember if i had an IV or not, maybe. Guess im not that much of a help...LOL It was for my head so I didn't go all the way in the machine. One thing I didn't expect that I'm glad DH warned me about was whatever they gave me goes through your whole body(so maybe I did have an IV??) and while they were doing the scan I felt like I peed my pants. I didn't but had the same sensation and I would've been so embarrassed I'd I hadn't known that ahead of time. LOL

Hope everyone has a great rest of the day. I've already taken a walk around the outside of the hotel so I might do that again before DH gets back from work.

Nice warm afternoon here. AuntieMe3, it is supposed to get cold again over the weekend. Enjoying this nice weather break now and hope you are, too :)

Thank you for rescuing another pup, Easyas :dog:Keeping you in prayer for your upcoming scan. I don't do needles of any kind lol. Remember there are topical anesthetics.

Pea, extra :grouphug: I hope your day has become brighter, my friend.

@easyas123 I have had a cat scan and it was not bad. I can't do MRIs due to claustrophobic issues but the cat scan was not an issue. I am not a fan of IVs but the techs are usually good at putting in the IVs and it is relatively painless. Hope all goes well. Congrats on the new pup. Thank you for taking care of a dog in need of a good home.

Thoughts and prayers for those expecting bad news. I hope things end up better than expected.

My house goes on the market next week. I am looking at a condo tomorrow in the next town. It is a bit further north than I would like but it is near a restaurant that Chris and I loved. It is located probably right between the 2 kids homes, probably 30-35 minutes away from each DS. My agent says it is in a quiet area, it is an end unit, and has wooded areas. I think it will be more of an educational visit on what I want and don't want in a condo which is necessary. Things are starting to show up on the market so something would really have to speak to me for me to put in an offer. I am not sure this condo will be that one. But I won't know for sure unless I tour it.

Have a nice evening.

They’re not bad - better than MRIs,
That's good to hear - I had a brain scan last month and that was the most relaxing medical procedure I've ever gone thru! I actually fell asleep!
while they were doing the scan I felt like I peed my pants.
My nephew just had a very similar experience, some sort of check for his neck. I think it was a MRI or something similar for tonsils.
eeping you in prayer for your upcoming scan. I don't do needles of any kind lol. Remember there are topical anesthetics.
Thanks! It's actually a good thing, and I'm not overly fussed with the actual test, or test results. It's the nurse coming at me with the IV needle. That is my 100% issue. When I had my breast reduction surgery I had 2 valium and talked the dr. into giving me a local BEFORE the IV. Topical doesn't do it for me I know what you all are thinking - why get TWO needles instead of one??? For some reason I find IV's very uncomfortable and extremely anxiety producing. And not just when they put them in - but the whole time they are in. I'm pretty sure it's 99% a mental thing though so I just try to push thru. And would you believe I've never died -much less suffered a horrible accident - related to IV's!!!!!!! I've got more blood work and another medical procedure that required twilight or whatever they call it anesthesia coming up in the next month or so and I'll start sweating that soon - not because of the testing, not because of the anesthesia they pump into me and not because of the results - just the IV and blood work. I have irrational fears of the needle getting stuck or lost, the discomfort gives me the cold sweats just thinking about it. But I can at least recognize it's in my head for the most part.

Thanks!

Mr L is feeling much better today. Had both of his appts, and each Dr at the COPD and heart clinics spent a long time with him. He hasn't been there since September. They did the bloodwork right there, the EKG, etc. Talked about meds..the girl from the dept that handles helping get patients drugs from the company, came in and told me that Bristol Squibb Meyers finally called her and said my application for the Eliquis is in redermination now that they have my out of pocket thing from CVS printed off from them and signed by the pharmacist, so we should know by Friday if I can get it free the rest of the year..Fingers X'd! We got to 65 Spring like degrees today, wish it would stay!

Off to fix dinner..have a good trip @AuntieMe3--room looks really nice!

A lot of people have this issue. I can tell you that when an IV goes in, the needle actually comes out. What’s left behind is a plastic sheath, and it can’t go in any further because it’s connected to the part at the top that other things connect to, so it can’t get lost. Hope that helps a little. Put yourself in your happy place when they’re putting it in. I had to learn to do that during chemo, and it works!

Really? I never knew that - thank you for explaining that for me. I've had plenty of very sympathetic and patient nurses, but no one ever told me that. I'll keep that tucked away to remember - thank you again.

Hi all.

Back from church where we changed the paraments to purple for Lent, my stint at the Welcome Center, shopping with DD, and getting subs. I bought a new tea kettle at Target and an outfit for Martin in Kohls. No swimsuit for me. And DD bought nothing for herself.

Tonight DH wants to watch The State of the Union speech.

we picked up a 9 month old puppy
How nice. Hope she works out. What breed?

has anyone every had a CT (CAT?) scan?
I have had one too.

DH warned me about was whatever they gave me goes through your whole body(so maybe I did have an IV??) and while they were doing the scan I felt like I peed my pants.
They warned me of that effect too when I had a CT scan for my ear. It really felt that way. I had to drink stuff before my abdominal CT but did that at home before I went. It wasn't a lot and wasn't bad. The scan itself was quick and not enclosed.

we booked our weekend cruise
Great!

We have a corner room
Nice room. What brand of hotel?

not sure I could handle the humidity....lol I'm a true desert girl and don't do well with humidity.
I am the opposite, having lived in the mid-Atlantic my entire life. When we went to Phoenix, it was so dry I had to go buy saline nasal spray so I could breath.

My house goes on the market next week. I am looking at a condo tomorrow in the next town.
Good luck for both deals.

Good morning all. Another Spring like day on tap with temps in the mid 60's. Then a cool down, then a warm back up. Can't wait to be able to open all the windows and let the fresh air in!

Took trash down, did dishes, fed cats and birds and made Mr L his breakfast. I don't normally eat breakfast, for some reason if I do,,then I am starving all day long. But if I don't eat it, I can go all day till dinner time and not be hungry, lol

Off to the grocery store in a bit. Was in Giant yesterday. Not a can of cat food in the entire pet row,,yet their dried pasta row was filled and overflowing. How come they have pasta and Walmart doesn't? And all of the coke products were back, Barqs, Fanta, Cherry Coke, etc. So is the aluminum and CO2 shortage over now? lol! Makes no sense to me at all. At least Coke was on sale this week so I stocked up. I refuse to pay $6.99 or $7.49 for 12 cans of it,,they were on sale 3/12.

Have a nice day all,,goodluck @Snowysmom on the condo. Like you said, the least it can do is narrow down what you might want or don't want!

Good Morning,
Finished going through all the VCR tapes, threw away 48 and kept 8. Does anyone have any experience with transferring them? They are starting to lose their quality, so I really shouldn't just pack them away. It was kind of a interesting trip through time, just watching the various things we chose to record.

I might go out later and get some food staples, before the prices go even higher. Haven't been to Aldi's in awhile so maybe, today.

Snowysmom-- I hope the tour today, provides some clarity

Easyas123-- I bet that pup is adorable! My DD always wanted a Bull Terrier but ended up rescuing a wonderful Pitt Bull.

Happy Wednesday morning! :flower1:

It's been so nice here this week. After work yesterday I was able to get outside and walk. That felt good. When I got home I fed all my cats and dogs and then remembered to fill up the bird feeder.

I bought a can of something that is supposed to deter scratching, but I am heading to the dollar store to get a spray bottle.
What kind of spray do you buy? I have a couple of cats that do this and I've been trying to squirt them w/water (my squirt bottle broke >:() and then I tried taping balloons around the bottom of the chair but that didn't work.

Easyas123, congrats on the new puppy. I'm sure he will be very happy and thankful that you rescued him. :dog:

AuntieMe3, nice hotel room. I'd be very happy if that's what I ended up with. Have fun on the cruise, perfect little getaway. :boat:

Not much else going on. Brought my left over salmon and roasted vegies today for lunch so I'm kinda excited for lunchtime :). Since it's Ash Wednesday today, I think I'll just make tomato soup and grilled cheese tonight and then for Friday I'll make the baked spaghetti that I've been thinking of making all week.

I'm actually busy at work this morning. I'm trying to schedule a meeting for one of the researchers that will include 14 executives. Trying to find an hour that works with all those schedules will be so much fun :scared:, more like a headache. Have a great day everyone! :sunny:

Good Morning :sunny:

:grouphug:extra to Easyas and Snowysmom.

❤always to each of you.

Dad will be headed to Target this morning to get butter. Ralph's is now charging $8.99! Yes, we prefer Land O Lakes (The unsalted kind) but still that is crazy. Of course, he would never only go to Target just for butter. Hopefully he will find other things we need there, too. We certainly have learned that during this time both prices and availability often change in an instant!

Today is Ash Wednesday the start of the Holy season of Lent. As I begin a quieter, I pray more closer walk with the Lord, I'm reminded that as a Quacker family we have come to post some extra gratitude during this more reflective time. This morning I am extra grateful for the added blessing of another warm, that dad is able to relatively safely go out to get needed items and do laundry and His assurance that one day in His time, I really will be able to accompany dad, too, and as we approach our 2-year Quacker Anniversary my extra thanks and a hug to each of dear you.

Have a blessed Wednesday, my friends 🐥🌸
