@Flyingdumbo123 I wish you had a Christmas Tree Shops near you! Their seasonal items are awesome, though I was in there recently and prices have gone up quite a bit (like everywhere else!). That’s where I get most of my seasonal items. But I’m sure you’ll find some nice things at Michael’s and it’s a sweet gesture for your friend.

I hope you get to hold the baby soon, Auntie! :goodvibes

Quiet day today. Napped. 😴 And it will probably be an early bedtime tonight, too. DH made the scones this morning, they were good! Glad you liked the spaghetti post! (Lynn, duly noted - no peppers or mushrooms for you! )

:hug:and thanks, Pea. I also wish there was a Christmas Tree shop near me. Dad will be going to Michael's in the morning. I'm so glad you rested today, my friend. I get concerned about you always on the go and all the kind care you give. You need to recharge and replenish :)

Quiet evening here. Finishing up some mail for tomorrow. Sweet Dreams, friends.

Hello friends.

Getting late so this won't be too long. Busy weekend.

..I would like the entire recipe when you have time.
Will try to post tomorrow.

He wrote us all off about 10 years ago.
That is too bad about the rift with your brother. So sad when things like that happen.

February 25th is also the anniversary of my nephew committing suicide.
Also very sad.

Raccoon Rumpus game,
I've played that! it's fun.

I had a little fun last night making that spaghetti dish
And it looked very good.

Dad and I decided we're going to get Terri this Easter Basket at Michael's.
Cute basket.

I hope the shower was a success. I'm sure it was.
The shower was great. A little drama before we left. Between Me, DH, DD, and family, we all tested for COVID before going. No reason other than be respectful of others. Of the 6 of us, 5 negative and Tessa, who was vaccinated Monday, was just barely positive on a PCR, Did a home test that was negative. After some logistical work and trading kids and car seats, DD, Carter and I left for the shower a little over an hour away. DSIL took Tessa for a rapid PCR test, and DH and his sister left to get my brother and his wife from the train station. Tessa tested negative so DS said she could come. They were late but got there.

The shower was a joyful occasion. Lots of good food and nice gifts. DD had made a trivia contest which was a hit. Then DS and DDIL had made a Wordle to reveal the baby's name. The group got the name in 3 tries - Martin.

DD and family, my brother and his wife, all came back here for dinner. Brother and SIL stayed over so I skipped church and we took them to the train station in Wilmington this morning. Rested the rest of the day. Poor DD had to drive back to the shower location today because two coats got left in all the confusion and car shuffling.

Off to bed now. Good night.

Carol Glad the shower was fun and everyone was together. Glad Tessa tested negative.

@Pea-n-Me those scone look so good. I love scones.

It is 19 degrees here now going up to the mid 20s. It is supposed to get warmer later this week. Younger DS set up car rentals for the Oct trip to take us to Disney. I am setting up a towncar service to take us back to the airport. We need a long grocery store trip going to the resort so a towncar service time of 20-30 minutes does not work for us. Going back we need to be sure we have car seats for 6 kids so we figure the towncar service is more likely to have that than the car care center at WDW. Cars would just sit in the parking lot for the week so we don't want to keep the cars all week. Plus getting back to the airport for drop off would be a nightmare with 6 kids and 5 adults. The end of the trip is always a rushed and anxious time to get to the plane. I feel like I have something to look forward to even if it is bittersweet. I know Chris will be there with us so that helps.

Off to make coffee and go to work. Another week begins. Have a good day.

Good morning. 36 outside now, going to be upper 40's today. We got to almost 60 yesterday

Not sure if Mr L is going to his appt this morning or not. He had an upset stomach last night and didn't feel good, says he's better this morning, but they don't want you in there if you are at all sick. Have to wait till he wakes up to see. He has appts at both clinics tomorrow, will wait till this afternoon to see if he wants to reschedule them.

Watched American Idol last nite, once again, lots of good singers (they haven't shown any bad ones yet, lol), and this year they have 3 Platinum Tickets..one for each major city-and whoever gets them goes to Hollywood and gets to skip the first audition held there.
I have 3 favorites already picked out.

No cleaning plans for the day, I did most of it yesterday. Washed the floors,,dusted and vacuumed the house, changed litter boxes, etc.
Dinner was Jack Daniels Pulled Pork on Italian sub rolls, coleslaw and fruit

@Breezy_Carol---glad the shower went well, and glad that all who had to be tested were negative

@Pea_n_me--those scones look delicious. I thought you meant she was making strawberry ones and blueberry ones, didn't realize you meant a combo. I don't think I ever had a scone with icing on it, but it does look yummy!

Have a nice day everyone

Good Monday morning. :sunny:

Going to be a nice week here weatherwise. A little cold yesterday but this week we will be working our way up to the 60's and sunny. Can't wait to get out and start walking.

Well, the vacation with my friend is a go! We booked everything yesterday, headed to Treasure Island, Fl. in July. Just a long weekend laying on the beach will be great. :beach:

Worked all weekend so nothing exciting happened with me. Working from home today so I get to spend time with my dogs. :dog::dog:

Ordered a new iPhone Friday. Mine wouldn't hold a charge for very long and my apps kept messing up. It's been due for awhile, I just didn't want to have to spend the extra money every month. I hate how these cell phones only last 2 years, I usually get about 4 years but I'm aggrevated for the last year. It should be delivered tomorrow.

My cats are all hanging around me, :cat: I guess they want some attention so I'll stop here. Have a great day! :)

Was up early today but watched some TV and then walked on the treadmill for a bit. I have a Zoom class at 11:00 and am supposed to quiz DS over the phone for his philosophy test this afternoon, but that's the extent of my actual plans. I'll probably do some random housework, but no big projects. It's sunny but cold here.

Good morning.

We went to Metro Diner for breakfast because we didn't go for my birthday. I need to get back on the WW wagon and plan to start for Lent. Today we each had a waffle and shared bacon. Yummy!

I am going to make a separate post from my phone and share the recipe and some pictures from the shower.

Beautiful and warmer Monday morning here. Last night I actually took my comforter off and replaced it with my regular microfleece blanket. Amazing! Such a blessing to be sitting here typing this now and not feel freezing. It is supposed to be 80 for the best 3 days. Then much cooler especially next week. I will enjoy the blessing of extra warmth right while it lasts that is for sure. Dad is headed to Michael's right now to get the basket for Terri. I'm soon headed off to watch worship which I missed doing yesterday.

Hug Carol and how grateful I am to read that Tessa did test negative. The shower sounds like it was a lot of fun. God Bless baby Martin to come. A belated birthday treat just extends the celebration. I’m glad you and your DH enjoyed your breakfast this morning.

19 degrees, dear Snowysmom, would make me want to head to Florida sooner than asap! Yikes. Please, please, bundle up and stay warm and well, my friend. As always, it does warm my heart to know you have a fun WDW trip in the works. You know I pray all of you will have a fantastic time together.

Much prayer for Mr. L, Lynn to be feeling better this morning! You both keep warm and well, too! Cute squirrels. I know Chip and Dale are chipmunks but the squirrels reminded me of them.

Hooray for a fun in the sun vacation to come with your friend, Footballmouse! I hope your new phone will work well for you, as well.

I’m glad you have a quieter day, PollyannaMom and hopefully one where you can stay warm at home! Sweet of you to help your DS study for his test. I’m sure he’ll do just fine.

Happy Monday and last day of February to all! I'll check back in later.

Ok, here goes.

First the recipe, I do not use nuts but of course you could. It calls for a can of Hershey’s but I can’t find cans anymore. I saved my last and measured so use 1 1/2 cups now.

Hello and happy Monday all. We have lots of sun and nice temps here. I think it's supposed to stay nice the rest of the week. I'll take it, but makes me nervous for what the second half of the month will bring. March is always "mixed bag" when it comes to the weather.

Gearing up for the last 3 months of school...this year has flown. These last 3 months are going to be busy, busy, busy. I was filling out my planner and wall calendar (I am old school and like that these also serve as diaries/journals for me to look back on. I also use my phone calendar, but really am a writer at heart) and there is plenty to keep me on my toes.

Carol- Looks like the shower was a great success. Glad a fun time was had by all.

footballmouse- Glad you and your friend booked a trip.

pollyannamom-Hope all is going well for your son.

lyn-I am not sure how you deal with that much football. We really just watch when the play-offs start and the team my kids like is playing, and that's almost too much for me. LOL

B&B-I hope things have calmed down for you. Family can definitely be stressful and knowing how to handle all of it sometimes can be exhausting. Remember to take care of yourself too.

flyingdumbo- I'm sure your friend, Terri, will love her Easter basket. Hope your dad was able to find the one you guys wanted. I'm not sure if you ever shop on Etsy, but sometimes they have really good sales on things that are sometimes hard to find. You can also narrow down your search to buy from people only in the US or more specifically in your area. I think it's a great way to support the "little people".

I've been trying to order flowers for a friends birthday, she lives in a different state in a large town, and both of the ones I have tried didn't answer the phone. I hope to ahold of someone before the end of the day.

Take care everyone.

Love the photos, Carol. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks, Frog. Dad did get the daisy basket this morning. I've never bought anything from Etsy but have heard about it for sure, thank you for the suggestion. You're a very kind friend to be reaching out to florists in another state as a birthday gift. I always write things down on a physical calendar! I don't use the on my phone at all. Old fashioned all the way :)

It's a wonderful 84 here! I just love it and am so very grateful indeed!

I wish all of you a lovely rest of the afternoon.

Hi everyone,

Took on an exhausting job today. We have about about 40 VCR tapes( unlabeled/mislabeled} sitting in a box in our closet. Hooked up an old recorder and have started going through them. Throwing out most, but I know there are a few tapes of the kids when they were young that we want to save. I hate to get rid of many of them, but we don't use them anymore.

Breezy Carol--Wonderful pictures, so much joy!
Snowysmom-- I'm so glad you have a trip to look forward to, even though I know it will be bittersweet. It's always good to have something in the works.

Blessings to everyone

That was a big job, Dazed! The last time (years ago) I went through old VHS tapes, some no longer even played. You should try to get the old movies of your kids onto DVD for safer long-term keeping. I am so glad you have those memories on tape :)

I talked to my friend Shirley a little while ago. She turned 95 today. I remember going to and helping with her big 90th birthday surprise party at church up in our social hall. 5 years ago, sure seems much more in the past than it was! But then, these days, as all of you friends now, time is strange but all the more precious as well.

Have a good evening all.

Good Evening.

@Breezy_Carol - Thank you I do wish things were different with my brother but I will admit family dinners are slightly quieter. My brother is not an easy person to be around. My mom reached out to a friend she hadn't spoken to in probably 50+ years. She was thrilled to have found her still alive and well. She still lives in the same house and is right around the corner from my brother. My parents basically gave him the house he lives in. It was the house they owned and let my grandmother live in when we moved. My brother got it when she passed away.

Anthony's team lost their only game of the season and unfortunately it was the championship game. I don't like to be a sore loser but they were robbed. The scorekeeper gave at least 4 points to the other team that should have gone to Anthony's team and of course they lost by 3 points at the buzzer. I don't mind losing if it is a fair game. Of course this was also the team they were playing when he got injured so he really wanted to exact some revenge. The team were not gracious winners and one boy actually tried to start a fight with Anthony. Thankfully Anthony had a few words and then walked away. Seriously, who wants to pick a fight with a kid in a leg brace that can barely walk?

The furniture came today and I love it. Of course, my grandson picked up another job and had to start it today with my house not finished. I was a bit angry last night and he knew it. I might not have minded as much if he actually worked full days here, but he was putting in 4-hour days and I paid his helper per diem, so it cost me more money. There is still the trim work and some touch up painting downstairs and then the ceiling upstairs. I really wanted that done before the furniture came. The electrician still needs to come back out and finish the lighting and the carpet goes in when that is all done. Hopefully by Easter we will be finished.

The cable went crazy today. After several attempts at Technical Support, we exchanged the box and things got worse. We can only get a few channels clearly, some are pixelated, and some just won't let us put them on. My husband is more bothered by that than I am as they are mostly his channels. He is missing CNN and all the news about Russia. I am trying to ignore it. A technician will be out first thing tomorrow to try and get it all straightened out.

Hope everyone has a good night.

Happy Tuesday morning! :butterfly

Another nice day here. Expecting rain all weekend. Of course we have plans to go to the pancake breakfast at the park on Sunday. It won't affect our eating since we will be inside but I would have liked to be able to walk around and take part in the sap demonstrations. Oh well, at least the kids agreed to go.

Back in the office today, I really dread having to come in lately. I think it's mostly because I'm trying not to use my car very often because of gas prices. I hate that my car used to be $34 to fill up and now it's $60. Makes me sick every time I pull into the gas station. :car:

I'll have to remember to go out back when I get home and fill up the bird feeder. I noticed yesterday that it was empty but forgot to fill it up.

I made a really good dinner last night. Frozen salmon with a bbq glaze and grilled vegetables (zucchini & squash). Both are bought in the frozen section at the store. You could put the pan of vegies either on the grill or in the oven, I went with the oven. Since the vegies cooked at a higher heat, I followed the microwave directions for the salmon. It was so good! I'll be buying more of those vegetables for sure. :stir:

Not much else going on. Guess I should look busy at work since people will be arriving soon. Have a great day! :thumbsup2
