Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

Happy Mother's Day.

DH and I watched church then went to see his mom in assisted living. We stand outside her window and talk by phone. Stopped at Dunkin for a donut before heading home. Had a nice long Zoom with DS and DD this afternoon. Then got carry over dinner from a local microbrewery. Their food is so good, and enjoyed a Crowler of beer too.

Missing Tina. Hoping she is ok and just visiting family.

Gratitude:
Good church message on being still and listening,
Zoom with kids.
Nice dinner,

Gratitude today:

I have not yet watched today's Worship service :( I did read last night in my senior pastor's weeknight epistle that our former music director (someone I miss so very much) would be bringing the music this weekend. I am looking forward to seeing that either later tonight or in the morning :)

Cooler weather

My Dad got Kroger Brand Disinfecting Wipes at Ralph's early this morning. As an FYI, to me one of the Lysol scents called Mango and Hibiscus that we had recently gotten for $6.99 no less  has such a strong smell. Not necessarily bad at all just super strong and does not go away quickly. The new Kroger brand cost $3.99, which yes, is still a fortune for one can but a marked improvement over the other, has a much more pleasant and mild scent. We used to prefer Target's Store brand Up &Up, sometimes store brand can both be preferable and save money, too :) ETA: one FYI/personal experience warning on the above mentioned Lysol Wipes. It is the strangest thing! Anytime we use these wipes, I feel a forehead headache...pressure...not good reaction. This had never happened with any other disinfecting wipe or product just this one! I am sharing because some of you be sensitive to stronger chemical smells! I hope this makes sense and is helpful!

Ty for asking, he is still on oxygen, in the ICU, but they are lowering his oxygen daily, and treating his pneumonia, which seems to have developed there. He is stable, but the Dr has told me concerning things that I just can’t let my mind entertain, so I plan on him being home in a week or so after 2 negative tests.
:flower3:

Peaceful day and I spoke to almost no one outside this house. Did receive a lot of text messages though. The threatened cold front made it's appearance well known but instead of closing the windows we threw sweaters on; I love fresh air.
Made a quick version of bouillabaise with the snapper following a Rachel Ray recipe that she calls foolyabaise; great stuff. Treated us to a bowl of raspberry sorbet and vanilla ice cream and the meal was complete.

Here's hoping the day was just what all expected and wanted:).

Glad to see that everyone had a pretty nice day yesterday. Ours was fairly quiet. Stepsons sent me FB messages and FB 'bouquets', lol. Stepdaughter stopped by Friday (outside the door), and left me a card and a journal and a nice pen. Inside the card (opened yesterday) I found an Amazon gift card. Then we went out just to go to the office so he could get his mail, and came home to find a pkg hanging on our door. My sister in law and niece left me a 'Mom' card, from our furbabies, lol. The picture on the front looked so much like my departed Simba (in my sig pic), that it made me cry. Opened it to find that she had signed it with all of our furbabies names, put little paws around them. The outside of the card said "Happy Mother's Day" and the inside said 'you're in my chair" lol How true. The cats are always trying to take whichever chair we are going to sit in. They also gave me a pretty tea/coffee cup that has a big paw print and says Fur Mom on it. Dinner was my choice, so we had dry rubbed baby back ribs, I made a small batch of potato salad, and we had first of the season bi colored corn. Had 'peanut butter explosion' cakes for snack while watching Idol the weather was gorgeous, sunny and 68. It rained overnite and is cloudy now. Calling for a high of 51 today, near 80 by the weekend,,finally Spring weather will make an appearance and stay! Have a great day everyone!

Our daughter made breakfast while my wife and I walked the dogs. Both kids gave my wife her presents during breakfast. I mowed while my wife did some gardening (some of her presents were seeds to plant). Did some shopping for my parents, then brought my mom her mother's day gift and cake. Did some more yard work, grabbed pizza to go, watched Birdman (as given to us by the Wheel o' Movie).

Bumping so the thread doesn't get lost till Tina comes back!

Good idea!

I can't change the title like she does, but I'm happy to sub in a question to keep us going!
(This one is #72 from The Book of Questions, by Gregory Stock, PhD.) -

For Monday, 5/11:
If you could have free, unlimited service for five years from an extremely good cook, chauffeur, housekeeper, masseuse, or personal secretary, which would you choose?

(Assume, of course, that all this quarantine stuff is over.)

A chauffeur at times would certainly be most welcome! I'd probably long term choose a housekeeper :)

I'd go with a housekeeper, too. As much as I would love a personal chef, I will make myself cook. Cleaning, on the other hand...I tend to slack off on.

(Besides, if the housekeeper were cleaning up, cooking would be less work!)

HOUSEKEEPER! I can and like to cook. I do get stressed driving, but honestly I get stressed more when somebody else drives. Not comfortable with massages, and I don't need a secretary. But I will certainly take someone who will sweep and mop and clean floorboards and windows and walls and dust and all of nonsense!

Housekeeper 110%

Got my 3 hummingbird feeders up, and two more ordered!
Got all of my various planters and stands down from the top of the hay barn and tossed a few that were broken. I'm going to inventory what I have and heading to the nurseries this coming weekend to load up! I am very much looking forward to it! With the exception of a few herbs I like to keep in a planter on the porch, the garden is in!

I would take either the chauffeur or the masseuse! I have a driving phobia...I can drive, but I avoid it as much as possible. I will do it if I have to - for example, normally my mother drives out to Illinois 2x per year, so I'd have to take my son to preschool and pick him up, plus take him to the playgrounds and library by myself. I stress horribly about it, though. Last year, I was so stressed about taking him to the library for something that I swore that I passed an oncoming stopped school bus (I didn't, but couldn't help but think that I did). And speaking of stressed, having a masseuse would be nice. I can feel how tight my shoulders and upper back always are...

I hope everyone had a lovely weekend and Mother's Day. This was my 5th Mother's Day (or 6th if you count pregnancy :) ) and it's still so surreal to me that I get a Mother's Day now. My son gave me a travel mug with photos of us on it (because DH is tired of seeing me drink out of old, faded Disney World mugs). We went to my in-laws' house and spent the day socially distancing in the backyard. My BIL's family and my SIL also visited. We are all starting to experience quarantine fatigue. Josh showed off his new bike/scooter helmet and his baseball skills; his uncle is very excited about that (after having two girls who are more interested in dance than sports). My SIL couldn't wait for us all to leave so she could pee in a corner of the yard - she won't let anyone go in the house. Back at home, we ordered Chinese from our favorite place, which finally opened last Wednesday or Thursday. We haven't had it since Christmas Eve.

Actually none
I like to do my own cooking, my own way
I like to drive myself around (I don't go many places anyway)
Picky about my house......I would just do it myself anyway
Don't like massages
No need for any kind of secretary

I am not a massage person at all either. Cooking to me=very basic and simple so don't need that. I am pretty organized and enjoy keeping things in order and stock of them.

Here in LA, dust seems to come out of nowhere sometimes and not go away! I'd love to have windows and windowsills more specifically dusted weekly along with other areas. Of course bathroom cleaning is not my favorite pastime so I'd gladly take help there too :D

I hope all of you are having a good Monday :)
