Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

I have been known to read a recipe very quickly and then leave out an important ingredient or put the ingredients in the bowl in the wrong order and it doesn't mix up well. I put an egg in with hot butter and wondered why the egg cooked instead of mixing with the butter. I missed the step of putting in the corn muffin mix then the butter then milk then the egg. I just did it haphazardly. That will teach me not to read the instructions. Now I just throw things together myself. The other night I took fat free refried beans and put them on a small flour tortilla. I topped it with low fat cheese, sauteed peppers and onions, and fresh diced tomatotes. I baked it in the oven until heated through. It was delicious. If I don't have to follow a recipe I am fine. :rolleyes1

Happy Friday to all. It's also National Military Spouse Appreciation Day. Oh the stories I can tell from being a military spouse. It was by far the most challenging time but I loved it. I loved the moving and getting to know people and the different personalities. After a while you figured out the rhythm of the military and any other military families will likely agree that all duty stations have: people sleeping with other people they shouldn't, baby mama drama, baby daddy drama, who is the baby daddy and where did that baby mama come from?, can't pay the bills but bought the spinning things on the cars, always someone in jail, always someone awol, and by the end always at least once a week a parent calling our house demanding this that or the other for their son or daughter. I think my husband would been fine dealing with the young kids training into soliders but it was the parents that broke him. Overall I loved it and met the best people and would do it again but maybe not more deployments. We had plenty of those.

It's beautiful and cold day here today. I have been productive baking today. I made some lemon pound cakes, blondies, and chocolate chip cookies. I'll drop things along the way up north tomorrow. I can't believe it's snowing in May up there and have to pack sweaters and jeans. I'm so over all of this weather.

Did ya'll know that NBC now has a streaming app also called peacock? I have xfinity cable and it's already loaded on my apps page for the premium service. It's not user friendly at all but has lot interesting shows. I LOVE Monk and Pysch and has all the seasons of those and we started watching Yellowstone the other night with Kevin Costner. It's really interesting. It's touch on the vulgar side and can be violent but overall tells good story. Apparently it will also have rebooted Saved By the Bell and Punky Brewster. I'm so over all these reboots. Just make something new!

Dinner tonight is leftovers from the past few days.

Gratitude:
1. I received call to gauge my job interest and to do video conference next week. I agreed to hear them out.
2. My mom is in good spirits. It's a small win but it's a win.
3. I texted with some friends today. I miss their faces but good to still joke and laugh through texts.

Peace and safe health to all.

P.S. I reading the cooking challenges and reminded me the first time I tried to make a turkey at our big family Thanksgiving we were hosting. The damn popup signals in the turkey is faulty! I waited for a long time, think days! We had a ham dinner and I cooked that turkey forever and still no timer popped. I gave up. Now I don't buy the turkey with the timer! HMPH

Question of the day 5/8: What's your birthday month or sign?

I'm an October baby and a libra. I don't follow astrology closely but always interest me. Libras tend to be romantics, need balance in their life, and love to laugh. That is absolutely me. I need balance in my life. I think that is why I married, Matt, the Leo. He is my lion and protector that is courageous. He doesn't like the limelight but is gracious when on him.

So what about you? Do you follow astrology or think you reflect your sign?

Very raw and rainy here today, calling for 27 overnite. I had to start the woodstove this afternoon just to take the dampness out of the house!

We loved Yellowstone, the daughter on that show is something else!

No wonder you and I would get along so well..I am an October baby and a libra also (Oct 1'st!)
I don't follow astrology, but since you told me what they are, then it's pretty close to what I am!

I'm an April baby, and I'm a Taurus.

Am I smart, ambitious and trustworthy? Well, I think so. Value honesty and prefer drama free friendships? Yes x100. Stubborn, but not stuck in one POV? Yes. Hard worker, pleasure seeker? Oh yeah baby. Detail oriented aka picky? yep Has trouble respecting authority, mainly if they aren't leading? Yah. LOL

I did not make the hollandaise or poached eggs for breakfast; I was very tired this morning (only got about 4 hours sleep), so DH had to make due to with reheated crab cakes and a couple of over easy fried eggs with sourdough toast. He won't complain, though, because he got fried eggs, which is a treat for him. If we dont' have pasteurized eggs, then his eggs have to be throughly cooked, no runny yolks.

Dinner tonight was leftover chicken from a couple nights ago, and leftover veggies from last night.

I'm a Cancer...

...married to and mother of a Leo...

As far as following them...I am definitely protective, devoted, and sensitive. As well as clingy, crabby, and moody and sulky ;) (When I first got that magnet, I thought it said "moody and sucky." Either way, I am)

My DH doesn't really follow the Leo traits, but our son does! Especially energetic, confident, determined, stubborn, bossy, and temperamental!

I am January baby, and a Capricorn as was my mom and my Maternal Grandmother.

Two of my three granddaughters are also Capricorns, including one that shares a birthday with me.

I don’t know what it means to be a Capricorn, as far as traits or predictions. At times in my life I had wished my birthday was away from the holiday season. We mostly went back to school after Christmas holidays right on my birthday.

Hey, it’s not the worst fate. I am thankful for all my birthdays so far!:cake:

Leftovers tonight. The man opted for the ribs and I finished the chicken. A bowl of green minestrone soup as a vegetable substitute (I don't add any pasta to the soup when it's going to be frozen which allows me to make it optional when defrosted). Orange supreme for dessert with fortune cookies for the man; I only had the fruit.

Both the man and I are "Pissy Annes" and swim in different directions when the mood hits. I don't read my horoscope anymore and like to think that my actions control my future. Still doesn't answer what causes me to act in the manner that I do, LOL.

Hello folk. Cold and yucky again today.

and by the end always at least once a week a parent calling our house demanding this that or the other for their son or daughter. I think my husband would been fine dealing with the young kids training into soliders but it was the parents that broke him.
So parents of soldiers - young adults - would call you/Matt? Did I misunderstand or is that nuts?

I am dying for something baked. I even had DH check the basement freezer to see if there was something we forgot. No luck.

Dinner tonight is leftovers from the past few days.
Same here. Left over spaghetti and two kids of veggies and I cooked a chicken breast on the Foreman grill for some protein.

Born in February and am a Pisces. It's a water sign and I sure to like being near the water.

Two of my three granddaughters are also Capricorns, including one that shares a birthday with me.
My DGD shares my birthday too. DD shared her grandfather's birthday.

Gratitudes:
Saw my first hummingbird at the feeder today.
I won a "swag bag" from Southern Shore Realty for an online scavenger hunt and that arrived today. A nice cooler bag, water bottle, sunglasses, frisbees, etc.
I like watching the wildlife in the backyard - birds, squirrels, bunnies.

I hope all of you are having a good Friday :) It's been cooler/some breeze here which is lovely! May the cool down continue.

I am so grateful today for:

A surprise phone call from my dentist's office. His wife (who is also the receptionist) called to tell me they are starting to re-open and would I like to come in for my cleaning on Monday morning? YES! This will only be a two week delay from the one I had scheduled that got cancelled. I go for cleanings often as I may have already shared due to TMJ issues. Dentist is such a kind soul. I have quick cleanings more often and that works so well.

A really nice email from a friend and later talk with a couple others.

A cool-ish walk this morning to move my car closer to where I live. It was nice being out for a few minutes.

One time either myself and/or someone who I was baking cookies with forgot to add salt! Yucky! That was definitely a mishap of wasted cookies :(

I am a Taurus. I don't follow astrology at all. I did enjoy reading what Bianca and Bernard shared, thanks for doing that and also to apirateslifeforme for the pictures those were fun to look at :)

Same as you! And balance is definitely my mantra!! I don't get overly into astrology, but I do find it fun.

OK, you guys are my people now. I just got a notification that someone who joined the DIS 56 minutes ago with a name of all letters and numbers, is following me. Is there anyway to block this person from following me? I looked around but couldn't find any. It's just creepy.
Very odd.
I think if you go into your privacy settings you can change who in general can see your profile.
I'd probably go through all the privacy settings and see if I needed other adjustments.
There might be other folks who post here that have additional ideas.

That is creepy. Make sure you report it to a mod, so they can look into it. I don't know if you can block someone , I know you can put them on ignore, then you can't see anything they post, and they can't see anything you post . I just looked at my account, and I don't see anywhere to block someone. If you got a notification,,just add the stalker to your ignore list.
