Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

Good idea!

I can't change the title like she does, but I'm happy to sub in a question to keep us going!

For Monday, 5/11:
If you could have free, unlimited service for five years from an extremely good cook, chauffeur, housekeeper, masseuse, or personal secretary, which would you choose?

(Assume, of course, that all this quarantine stuff is over.)

You mean I have to make a choice!?:lmao:
Uhmmmm... can I have a masseuse/trainer? Make the pain appear and disappear at will.

I had a HARD time deciding between masseuse and housekeeper myself!

We have been tossing around fencing our backyard (for the dogs) so I think after work we will take a glass of wine and stare at the backyard and contemplate the situation. Dinner is grilled tenderloin w/ roasted tomatoes and potatoes and raw carrots (I abhor cooked carrots!)

Started a chicken Mexican type soup in the crockpot this morning. Spent about 5 hours at DH's office helping to organize files. The way things have changed, so glad he decided to retire.

Like Lynxstch and Meriweather, there are quite a few a really don't want. I think a housekeeper would be nice now and then.

Definitely housekeeper. I can do all the other stuff but I HATE to clean. LOL

Good afternoon, all!

I had a good Mother's Day. DD#2 Facetimed me twice, and sent me a dirty/clean sign for the dishwasher, with The Child eating a frog (dirty) or drinking (clean); and a dishtowel that says 'Mimi is the name, spoiling is the game' (it's true). LOL She also sent me some yummy cookies (a friend of hers from high school is starting a bakery business). DS did the dishes and took care of the cats for me, AND he showered without me asking. win/win! DH said I couldn't make my nachos yesterday, and ordered us pizza instead. DD#1 messaged me, and told me that GS#3 sent me something in the mail, but it's taking a long time to get here (something handmade).

So, today I made the Nachos with smoked Oaxacan Mole (with pepper jack and cheddar cheeses, Hint of Lime chips, and some sour cream) and Creme Brulee. I totally rocked them! :cool1: I have heartburn now, because the mole had some HEAT, but it was worth it.

DH says he would pick the Cook from the Question of the day. He says cooking is annoying, but I find it fun and soothing. (Notice I didn't mention in my food notes about the pepper jack cheese sauce I was going to pair with the nachos. That was...a noble idea, but got a bad recipe I think. I've never had a roux suck up the milk and GROW before...)

Me, I would go for the massages.

This is how my mind works: the chauffeur would cost too much money for the service received. I'd have to buy a car, insure it, and pay parking costs too. Uber is cheaper.
I enjoy cooking so forget that service.
The housekeeper would just make me work longer w/ the masseuse and/or trainer.
I no longer have enough work for a personal secretary and my Iphone apps are doing just fine, LOL

Tonight's dinner courtesy of the freezer: beef bourguignon pot pie. DGD is back and I know this is a dish she likes. Cucumber and radish slices on the side. Ice cream soda for dessert.
Your dinner sounds yummy and makes me wish I had grill access!

To the bolded..I have grill access...all we need is weather suitable enough to grill,,it was a balmy 47 degrees today, lol. Last year on this date it was 74 degrees!

I would go for the housekeeper, for sure. Not even a contest. I can’t stand cleaning and procrastinate a lot in that area. Since I am currently living solo, I figure it’s my choice. I am not bad about leaving dirt/garbage, but clutter doesn’t bother me so if you come to my house, you should expect to see some.

Our friends DIL made creme brulee for the first time this weekend. They didn't have a torch so she was going to use the broiler and our friend said I have a torch. He brought in his welding torch from the garage...:lmao:She took a video and sent it to us....OMG...we were cracking up, its just sooo our friend. They said they were really good.

We had Rana meal kit for dinner tonight from Costco...it was pasta with grilled chicken with portobello mushroom sauce. It was really good. I really like those kits, we get them often and all the varieties we've had have been great. Usually a good deal too....$10 or less and I just add a salad and garlic bread or toast. I think I mentioned before my family are pasta fiends....they would eat it everyday if they could. I'm not that much of a fan so this is easy for me if i feel like making myself something else.

To everyone with the ability to grill at will is it OK if I turn a little green?
Mostly I need to go camping to grill and one member of the household is basically feeling they make restaurant to do that instead;):lmao:

I do not miss having to go camping to grill. Did that way too much in my younger days. Would rather just fire up the grill outside my back door these days!

I have always lived either in a very rural area, or on a farm, and it never occurred to me that I couldn't just walk outside my door and do what I want on my property until the eldest moved into an apartment and realized he couldn't use a regular grill. For Christmas that year I got him a electric grill, which he was allowed to use on his balcony. He lasted exactly a year in that apartment, not a day longer , I don' think he realized how stifled he'd feel, although I thought it was great to be able to walk to restaurants and bars, even a mini golf place and a new movie theater! I thought that was way better than needing to drive 40 minutes to anywhere! I think that is why we like going to WDW, we can walk to all these great places without driving!

I think I missed a question or two but I saw @PollyannaMom 's. Yes, I do! I mentioned music in the car relaxes me. I have a treasured playlist on Spotify that I go through depending on my mood. I also pay for Sirius XM because I sometimes like to listen to the news or other channels too. This is what commuting in (usually) heavy traffic gets you. :hyper:

I thought I would share a story with you from my weekend at work. My patient was very, very sick (with Covid) and still sort of out of it for the most part, unable to talk. But Sunday she remembered me from the shift before. We were communicating with our eyes, mostly, since I was behind a mask and steamy shield and she had various technology lines crowding her face. Sunday morning I leaned down, touched her arm, and said, "Happy Mother's Day" and her eyes widened, as in, "It's Mother's Day?". I told her I know you're a mother and described her children, saying I saw their picture in her room and reminded her that they're aware of where she is and involved in conversations with staff, etc., even though they couldn't be there. Her face then relaxed with peace. It was a really nice, memorable moment. I somehow knew going into the weekend that my being there on Mother's Day was going to be important to someone. So I felt good about it. (And I feel as if my mother is with me now in these moments; it was her who inspired me to go into nursing.)

I have a day off today and DD suggested we go to the cemetery to put flowers on my mother's grave so that's what we're going to do. I hadn't even thought of it going into the weekend as it's become a little stressful going into shifts where sleep is off and routines are changed, not to mention forced awareness of self-protections, so that I really have to think about and concentrate on what I'm doing when I'm working. I am hoping that some grass has grown as last time I visited there was just dirt there. We will buy some pretty flowers in pink, her signature color. Somewhere along the line we will get a walk with the dog in, and hopefully something good and relatively healthy to eat! DS and DH brought one of my exercise machines upstairs for me and it felt good to start a little workout again. Nice to have a little energy back today. Hopefully the weather holds out, I haven't even checked what's forecasted.

Not sure when Tina gets back, so will ask another fill-in question for today:

Tuesday, 5/12 -
Do you sing along to the radio in the car?

Thank you for being our 'Temporary Tina', she would be glad that someone is coming up with questions to keep the thread going!

I sing along in the car, I sing along in the shower, I sing along with the stereo at home, and I sing along with tv shows, lol I don't have a good voice, but I don't care, lol!
