our trip lands right in the middle of starting assigned seats Jan 27 our trip is 1/23 1/30

SW fares dont even go out as far as the 30
as of now they go till the 26 I think

so basically leaving on the 23 well still be in the open seating
but coming home well be in the assigned seats time
like I said this is new but just wondering if anyone has any ideas how this will go
also since its assigned seating do you really have to do EB since you wont have to worry about postions
thanks

I would imagine EB will go away starting with the first flights with assigned seating.

It sounds like it might be better to buy yours as one ways rather than round trips.

I hope the early board remains. I need the extra time to get from my WC into the plane's seat without getting run over by all the people in a rush behind me. I'm fine with getting assigned seats but the purpose for early board I think still remains... more time!

Preboarding will still exist. If you are a wheelchair user or have other medical or other need recognized by Southwest and/or the Air Carrier Access Act, you should have no need to purchase EB yesterday, today, or tomorrow.

Pre boarding won't go away.
EARLY BIRD CHECK IN will go away. (Where you pay an extra fee to automatically be checked in so you don't have to worry about it 24 hours ahead).

Are you sure about this? Customers who have booked a "basic" fare will be automatically assigned a seat in the rear of the plane at check-in. I can see them keeping EB with auto seat assignment... I'd guess it'd give me a better chance at an aisle or window seat being automatically assigned if I checked in at T-minus 36 instead of T-minus 24. More money for Southwest if they leave it in place. I don't know... I think it all stinks and won't be flying Southwest after we use up our current reward miles.

Isn't it always better to buy one way tickets rather than round trip tickets?
