Destination D23 2025 Aug 29-31, 2025 at Coronado Springs

I feel bad, but unfortunately, disappointment and frustration are the general feelings with D23 event registrations. I had pretty much assumed I wouldn’t get in after some previous events.
Yes, this stuff is always difficult because there are always more people wanting to go than seats available. The Queue It system can sometimes glitch like someone else posted. I always go into it expecting the worst and knowing it's basically a lottery.

Super disappointing. I would have been sad to miss out, of course, even if it was handled better, but I'm really annoyed that I probably skipped my lunch hour for no reason - If I had been told that tickets were nearly gone earlier, I could have made my own choice of whether to sit staring at a computer screen all that time. For that matter, if they told you where you were in the queue, you could make a decision. If I had been told I was spot 3000 or something like that, I would know not to bother waiting or to at least not get my hopes up. As the time counted down and finally let me in, I got more excited thinking I would be able to get tickets. I just needed 2 General tickets for myself and my 25yo son. We were going to do this as a special trip for the 2 of us since we are the big Disney history fans in the family.

I'm not sure if we will ever try to attend a D23 event again. It doesn't seem worth the time, hassle & disappointment.

THIS. I am used to runDisney queues, which update you with the event and time it sold out at the bottom, so you know whether or not to stay in the queue. I get it, things sell out fast, and sometimes it's luck, but at least keep people informed. For example, if you only wanted the 5K and it sold out, but the other events are open, you can make the decision to leave or not. Finding out the tickets had been sold out 30 minutes before entering the "room" with no notice or announcement was aggravating, especially knowing Disney IT has the means to update people in the queue.

UPDATE: Just checked Instagram and D23 posted on their story with "tickets on sale" 7 minutes ago and if you click the link it brings you back to a queue, just adds to the frustration as they been sold out for almost an hour at this point.

They are STILL putting people into the queue. I just wanted to screenshot it was sold out to send to my son. WHen I clicked on it the queue was back (3 minutes)

I went ahead and waited just to see what happens. This was the screen just before the redirect to the purchase screen where it is sold out. This was at 1:16 central time. It has been sold out since at least 12:45 when I was first let in.

I had some dumb luck this morning and managed to get standard tickets. I originally had a 27 minute wait listed but got in after 12. I've done a number of rundisney events but this one was extra brutal.
I haven't done runDisney so I'm curious: does that use a different system than Queue-It that updates more frequently?

Similar system although I think its Disney's own system like you see with sales for special park ticket events, anybody who enters the queue when the links are live before the official time is randomly placed in order once the sale officially starts. There is a status bar that moves as you progress and an estimated wait time (usually "more than an hour" unless you get lucky). You are not guaranteed registration until you get the confirmation page (so yes, you get 10 minutes in the registration site, but it's not held in your cart, so it could sell out as you're filling out credit card info). If an event sells out, it automatically pushes out a notification to everyone in the queue that it is sold out, with a timestamp that displays at the bottom. Likewise, on the runDisney website, it shows whether the events are sold out or not.

Like I experienced with this D23 queue, runDisney is also notorious for time jumping back and forth, where you are under 30 minutes, and then it jumps back to over an hour, so that didn't surprise me at all.

I managed to get tickets. When I got in, all three classes of ticket were available. I decided to go for the middle one (Preferred) just so I won’t have to worry about getting in a long line to fight for seats. Even if I get the “worst” seat in the Preferred section it will be totally fine. I agree there’s no real imperative to buy more expensive tickets. Annoying that I never got to do the Sorcerer’s Package back when it meant more than seat selection.

I ended up with nine browser windows open across various devices. Two of them got lucky with sub-15 minute waits that quickly dropped to 5 minutes and I was in by about 10:10PT on one and got my one ticket. The rest were all at an hour plus at the start and I closed them out. Kinda ridiculous the lengths we have to go, but supply and demand issues.

I should have looked for this thread. Sometimes in the past we were able to share valid queue IDs and re-enter in the past to help people out, but not sure if that still works. Too late now.

Okay, thanks, I have done the special park ticket events so now I know what you mean. I wonder why D23 contracts out to Queue-It to manage this particular event rather than use Disney's own system... maybe the latter can't handle as many people?

Anyway, sorry you had a frustrating time!

Most likely due to the high demand and the added layer of verifying D23 Gold status. Honestly surprised to see they outsourced a queue. runDisney can sometimes be a struggle bus with queues, there have been multiple glitches and instances where it breaks and gets rescheduled. We always joke around about Disney IT because they just can't seem to get queues running smoothly, although lately they have greatly improved in the runDisney sphere, mostly due to throttling.

I also love runDisney queues can be shared, so if you get lucky with more than one quick queue, you can share it on the boards, which has bailed me out a couple of times.

I hear you there! That's how I got Oogie Boogie Bash tickets one year, thanks to a kind DISboards member

Did anyone notice this comment. I think it’s in the Disney Springs section. I wonder what it is or if it even pertains to Disney Springs.

“Also, stay tuned for more details about a spooktacular event happening the evening of August 29! It’s sure to be a wicked good time.”
I was thinking it would be a chance at tickets to MNSSHP on Friday night. My guess is that it'll be a D23-only night for both Destination D23 attendees and D23 general members, kind of like they did 3 years ago with Oogie Boogie Bash at the 2022 Expo

That’s what I was thinking. I tried to look for MK park hours, but they aren’t up yet. There is a party on the 30th already.

We got tickets! Decided on standard as we are spending a lot of Disney money this year already because of a Hawaii Cruise. How did you fare?
We were fortunate and actually got them this year as well. After reading these posts I see the Disney tech issues with all of these continue. So sorry for all. It is super frustrating.

I managed to get a ticket for myself, but my two friends who I was going to meet up with struck out on their tickets. 😭 I'll be going solo.

Yeah. I'm assuming it's the Halloween Party, with attendees getting first dibs and then maybe the rest for D23 members. Assuming that they just did't put details because nothing is announced about MNSSHP.

For the 30th, you mean the thing at Typhoon Lagoon? I was confused cause I thought you meant a MNSSHP on the 30th, but Disney hasn't announced any info on 2025 yet right?
