I will be going to POFQ for the first time on March 7-11th. I am very excited about my first time at a moderate resort. I am staying in a room with a King Sized bed. I will be checking in late on March 7th. Should I request a certain room know, do online check in 10 days before the trip, or just let the chips fall where they will? I do have bad knees so doing stairs are harder for me, especially after walking the parks all day.

I call and have requests added to my reservation and I do online check-in. I have
had good results doing both each trip. When I get there my folder is ready with requests noted. I get there early so the room is usually not ready but the room or at least the building is usually
already assigned.

Corri!!!! I hate to tell you this, but I am here too.

I requested bldg 6 - but I doubt I'll get it - main floor, as well - I also have really bad knees... Honestly, I am sure I will be happy with anything I get.

Good luck getting your requests,best to add the requests via phone ahead of time. However, the good news is the buildings have elevators, so you could always use those to avoid the stairs if needed.

Our trip to Disney and POFQ is quickly approaching. For those that have stayed here, how long is the bus ride to Disney Downtown? What about the boat ride?

I'd like to make a "quick" trip to DDT to pick up a few snacks and adult drinks at the Food Mart across the street.

I'd say the boat ride from POFQ is about 12-15 minutes. Really nice ride in good weather. The only downside to the boat ride, at least when we were there in Jan, was that it would come packed from Riverside people. This always happened at night so I guess everyone likes to take a trip to DDT then.

What is the number that one calls to confirm special requests just before the trip? Im assuming it is not general reservations.

If you mean the resort's quoted telephone number, it's 1-407-934-5000. Ask to speak to front desk or room allocations dept as you will be answered by a central WDW switchboard.

What do you say on your request if you want a corner room without being under a stairwell. I had requested a corner room last time and we were literally on the bottom floor under a stairwell...we did get the room changed but seriously UGH!!

What exactly would I be requesting? Corner room top floor? Outside corner room? Help...lol~

We were just at POFQ this past week (Feb 4th-11th). I had put a request in for a first floor room in buildings 4, 2, or 5. When we checked in (did not do online check in), we were assigned a room on the top floor of building 1 facing the parking lot. I politely asked if there was any way to get a first floor room closer to the main building and the very nice CM moved us to a perfect first floor room in building 3. I forget the number, but if you come out of the main building, turn right, and just go straight you almost walk straight into our room. It was a corner room, right across from the ice machines, facing a courtyard and the walkway that goes straight to the main building. You could see the arcade and gift shop entrances from our room. We were in the first room in the part of the building that juts out into the courtyard toward the fountain.

Maybe something like "external corner room"? But to be honest you're getting into really picky requests here and I believe there's only a small space to enter requests on the system - it'd probably be better to contact the resort directly just before you arrive.

Thanks Andre. I don't mean to be picky. I am fine with whatever building they put us in. I just wanted a corner room on the outside of the building... I will call as the time draws near.

I know someone on this thread (or the older one) mentioned what I am talking about. They had experienced what we had too. Corner room requested and they were put under a stairwell. They asked what they should of requested after this happened and they posted it. Just can't find it now

My sweet DH got me a Samsung tablet yesterday I will be bringing it on our trip and using the wi-fi (someone said it is free, right?).. Also, is the safe big enough to put this in? (same size as iPad)

Hi, request a room close to elevator. We were there last week and had a room approx. 50 feet from elevator and it was great. You can Google POFQ Resort map so you can check layout of hotel and choose which building you would like to stay in. Then call WDW and request building of your choice and proximity to elevator. Enjoy your stay.

Yep, should be fine (It's a Galaxy Tab 10.1, I assume? Same as the tablet I've got). Wi-Fi should work fine at the resort too.

You need to request building 7 to be nearer to POR, and even there you're not really very far from the main building (not much more than 5 mins walk). Have a look on Google Earth and measure it with their ruler tool.
