i have never taken a carriage ride or anything like this before do you usually tip afterwards or is that included in that price

We were told that the drivers are not allowed to accept a tip, they could lose their jobs. And if money is left in the carriage, they have to turn it in, they can't keep it.

Went to AK this afternoon and it was relatively crowded...but we are used to getting there at rope drop...

We've decided on the FQ for our Feb'13 trip and now I have a question. My mom (which will be 70 by the time of the trip) has a small knee problem that bothers her from time to time. Which building is the closest to the check in area and the food court? and how do we book it?

Building 4 would probably be your best choice (see the map in the first posting in the thread) but you can't 'book' that as such, you can only request it.

If you consider this medical situation to be something that you want to notify Disney about for special attention, you could contact the Special Assistance line (1-407-939-7807) who might be able to get something set up for you.

Hello. We are coming down to stay at POFQ in two weeks. We have never stayed here before and we had heard of some construction going on there. I am very worried that the construction is going to be cumbersome and disturb our week long vacation. I can take refurbs in the parks (I know there are a lot going on) but I don't want the resort to look like a construction zone as I am trying to enjoy my bi-annual trip to the world. Can you (or anyone else) give me an update on the construction? Is it taking away from the resort? Is it really obstructive?

Just back yesterday from FQ. The construction is in the main courtyard between the store and Food court. That whole "square" is blocked off by wood walls. Caused a slight interruption in the usual path I would walk to get to the bus, but I didn't have to deal with it too much. The rest of the resort was beautiful as usual. Minor construction happening in a few buildings, handicap ramps being installed.
Was able to use the Wifi on my iPad. Netflix would only be good for about 30 minutes, then it would crash and it would take a while to get wifi back.

Exactly what disney777 mentioned. The construction is minimal. It's (very) slightly disappointing - only because the entire resort is so beautiful!

We've taken the boat to DD,which was as delightful as it always is (have stayed at POR twice before), had a manager help my dd11 find hidden mickey's at the resort, and had bell services go above and beyond helping us find a missing delivered package. Service has been excellent so far!

FQ is on the list for a sister trip in December. A couple years ago we stayed at POR and there were alot of cheerleaders there for a competition. Apparently it spills over to the moderates when the values are all booked up. Can someone tell me if it spills into FQ? Maybe someone who has been there during that time? We're really trying to avoid that. If not, we might just have to splurge for a Deluxe - but a moderate would be more budget friendly!

In POFQ Withdrawl, was there last week and am already missing it. Such a beautiful place. Requested via fax a room in building 4 and got it at check in at noon time, was so impressed by this! Would consider again for future trips, but the food court needs more variety and Disney in whole needs more fruit options!

There was a dance competition this past weekend and we didn't notice any teams at the resort. Have seen a few in the parks.

Correct. Although if you buy two half-gallon cartons, then you've got a gallon! It might last longer that way too, as one can stay sealed until you need it.

It probably costs a bit more that way, but hey this is Disney World - if someone is really worried about a dollar extra against a gallon of milk, I think they might just be vacationing in the wrong place...

Hey a half gallon is less than 2 sodas, and tastes way better with powder sugar and dough.
Personally I did a walmart run for my milk but I had bought one of the bottled milks, it was way more expensive per ounce than a slightly overpriced half gallon for sure.
