Wow, that will make your head spin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Has everyone gotten hold of one of these things?

Request them from MS, however, you need an MBA and an engineering degree to figure them out.

I requested one and received it about 2 weeks ago. We have three home resorts and 2 had add ons. My DH and I are almost done trying to figure it all out. I also received in the mail a second copy(partial) from another DVC Member from another state who received our statement in with his. It was very nice of him to forward the papers to me. The most confusing part for me was when we changed resorts after the initial booking and the parts with using points from a different resort for booking. I think we finally have it all clear and will put it on a spreadsheet.

My DH HAS an engineering degree and between the 2 of us we STILL couldn't figure it out. I love my DVC, but it's ridiculous in this day and age that a more useful and simplified tool is not available to members.

Maybe they make it difficult so we aren't requesting statements that often. Can you imagine thousands of requests to MS?:scratchin

Yep, I’ve requested one once and couldn’t figure it out for the life of me.
And I have a master’s degree in engineering… LOL!!!
I ended up throwing it away…
I wish they could come up with something way easier to read.

I've managed to figure it out....

To help me track everything, I've made a spreadsheet where I enter all the transactions from the Points Activity Statement so that it's formatted in a way that actually makes sense to me. Although if anyone else looked at my spreadsheet, they probably wouldn't get that either. Heh.

I request one of these by fax whenever I've made multiple changes/reservations in a short amount of time, and I want to make sure everything in my account is in order.

But yeah, it is ridiculous that it's so hard to understand. I think I recall Richyams ranting about how complicated these are and how he lost points once because MS made a mistake. He and MS disagreed on how to interpret the statement, and there was a whole big debacle of some sort.

I got one once, I was off by 10 points (MS was right, I was wrong...I added an extra night and forgot to enter it into my spreadsheet).

Complicated is an understatement, but I did figure it all out by comparing all the confirmation, cancellation and banking numbers.

I received one, it is awful!!! I bought resale, so it also showed all the previous owners vacations. Plus it shows every time you book, cancel, change, etc., then differentiates between your main account and add-on, I think if you add on, and its the same use year and resort, there should be a way to make it just one big account, and not break it up, I was on the telephone for hours trying to figure out how I borrowed from my 05 points and I still can't figure it out, but they are convinced they are right, I had a few too many cancelations, and changes in plans, so I just gave up!!!

well since I posted earlier, it got me thinking and I pulled out all the non-sense again, contacted MS, went over it again, still didn't get it, HU, tracked everything again, oddly enough, we came to the same end result!!!! Both my accounting and MS's has the same total points available for next year, but how we got to them is so far different!!!!

I just took my actual stays, subtracted them from points available and got to the same number, I just don't know why they can't make it that easy, I know they have to track every single transaction, but man, for those with multiple but same contracts (addons with same resort/use year), why they don't just make it one account for numbers only is beyond me!!

:smooth: not bad, only 2 hours wasted on this!!!!

Some day I'm going to request one of these just for the "fun" of it!;) I really need to see what everybody is talking about.

It is hard to figure out at first but it can be done if you hang in there. One simple thing to do is to limit the time period that you request the print out for. In other words ask for only 2003 to present. That way you don't have to go back over many things that aren't even your trips if you bought resale.
