New “Key To Disneyland” interactive experience coming May 16th

The giant key might be why I don't do it. I can tell you DD will NOT be interested.
It will be interesting to see if the pins are random, released one at a time, or you can pick every time.

I am really curious if they are really this big. Seems like a bad idea to me.
I agree! I hope it's not that big. Kids are not going to want to hold onto something that big for very long, I dont' think. If it's really this big, it wouldn't fit in my usual purse backpack. I can see kids pointing it at each other like a gun, which of course is something kids can do with just about any object of that size and shape, but still seems a little odd as a decision from Disney. At least it doesn't blow bubbles :D

Let's hope what they're showing is an oversized version.

That key is huge. Is the pin INSIDE the key?

This seems fun on the surface, but here are some things I wonder about...

Will there be long lines to access the locks?

How easy will it be to do this if you have just 1 day in the park? Not everyone goes to every land, but with this you'd have to. It seems a bit time consuming.

How much will the key cost?

I agree with others- I like the concept, but wish the key was a bit smaller. Maybe it'll look a tad different in person. This reminds me of when I was at Tokyo DisneySea they have the "Crystal Wish Celebration" and sold these color wands to interact with the crystal wish machines. I am not 100% sure what they did though, but a lot of people had the wands!

They were doing a demo of this key at the media event yesterday. It is definitely this big plastic key that people will need to carry around. As you use it at each station, the body of the key lights up with an icon for each land and adds music for that land. At the end, a compartment opens within the key to reveal the locked pin.

I was thinking the same thing. I was also wondering if you would be able to see the lights during the day.

Looks like if you want to try to collect all the pins you will have to buy at least 9 Keys.
Assuming you don't get a duplicate.

I don't need to collect all of the pins. I understand that the size is partly because of all of the tech inside. I would like to participate in the scavenger hunt but would prefer something that is the size of a large keychain or bag charm.

I wonder who the target audience is. I'm not sure how many kids are interested in a Disneyland "D" pin. They might enjoy the light up plastic toy, but not the gift at the end. Or, is this targeting the adult popcorn bucket audience?

I wonder if this has multiple uses...does it reactivate each time you bring it to park?
Or is it a one-and-done thing? Obviously you wouldnt get another pin but if the lights all worked again, it might be a fun toy for the kids. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and guess $39.99...

Thanks for the link, @LKing! It does look kinda cool...but gosh...so much plastic...bubble wands, keys, popcorn buckets...if we had a designated Disney junk landfill, I wonder what it would look like?
IKR? I skimmed through the video and the stuff just started looking junky to me... :sad2:
