And I don't know why but Ihandy Level Free .... its a spirit level on your phone. I have absolutely NO need for it whatsoever but I just LOVE LOVE LOVE going around and saying 'Hmmm, is this level?' and then using my Iphone level. Stupid but great :thumbsup2 :rotfl2:

Yep, I'm an app junkie and have tons more- they are just my free ones that spring to mind :)

Oh No! I've created a monster. Thought my husband would like the Iphone level - downloaded it for him - he hasn't stopped using it yet. Hopefully he will run out of things to check in the house and move on to Home Depot. :lmao:

For your amusement -

These are preliminary winter predictions. Apparently the more finalized predictions come out in Oct. Of course, that doesn’t say what the temp will be on any particular day but overall most of these are showing colder than normal temps in Florida for Dec. ( And massive snow for the mid-Atlantic.)

I didnt click any of the links, but I am not enjoying your sypnosis of them. Hoping colder than normal means 65 degrees, not 30.

Ok - should you fine folks (if you're not - don't tell me) ever find yourselves in SA again, I'd love to show you some "good" Mexican food. I'm sorry, but the Riverwalk isn't the place. Just like other major touristy-type cities, the real-deal food isn't found at the center of attractions. And I don't say this just because I live here, I'm actually from a border city in west TX so I grew up on Mexican food. I can tell you my abuela never charged $8 for rice and beans... :confused3 she could feed the whole family for a week on what some of these so-called-mexican-food joints charge for one plate... sorry, stepping off the box now...

:thumbsup2Will keep that in mind. But I am not sure we can handle REAL Mexican food. I smiled when you said your abuela. We have a chain Mexican place called Abuelo's. We always say we are going to grandpas for dinner.

They're really general predictions involving potential weather patterns and currents. "Colder than normal" just means the weather patterns look like they might have the potential to drive the colder air south. They're not specfic enough to predict "65 or 30", at this point....which is probably a good thing for all our stress levels.

Trying to predict actual December weather in September is like trying to predict what the stock market is going to do next week, today. :)

Hoping the almanac says warmer than normal for me in NH! Ugh oil prices are just too high!

It's not (according the the almanac).

NE is likely going to be cold...all of it. Could be snowy, too. Depends on what El Nino decides to bring with it this time (they're forecasting at least a weak, and possibly moderate, El Nino). It's wildly variable.

We'll see if it plays out the way they predict.

Haha, word. If you're spending $20 on dinner at a Mexican food place, you're probably not getting the best, simplest, most authentic food.

Ugh...now I want Mexican food!

One of our best local Mexican places is in a gas station. No lie! :)

Of course we rarely go out for Mexican. No one around here can make tamales as good as the ones we make at home. ;)

Well I guess the oil man will be happy!

10 years ago we got 10 inches of snow right before my wedding, like 2 days before. As long as we can get on the road it can do whatever it wants. Another plus to us driving and not flying!

And another reason we are a little nervous about flying this year instead of driving. Our snow usually comes in Jan and Feb so hopefully we will be okay.

Our region is expected to have a snowier than usual winter. I would not be upset if we had a massive snowfall the Sunday after we leave for Florida, that closes the schools for 3 days or so! As long as they clean it up in time for us to come home!

The fabulous thing about Disney is you walk so much that you burn off what you eat. Its like magic, its like everything has 0 calories. I weighed exactly the same when I got back and yet, I ate as though a food ban was about to be issued :teeth:

:lmao: Yes, that's true -- I'm not going to worry about it! Now I also need to download the level app...i think many things are crooked in my house.

Levenhopper - My new favourite game for iphone/ipad is SONGPOP -- omg, so addictive.

Tltorrez -- Thanks for the weather links. If I'm interpreting correctly they are forecasting a few degrees lower than normal, and precipitation a few inches higher than normal. Like Valgoof, I hope that 'few degrees' means mid-60's not mid 30's Whatever it ends up, it will likely be warmer than it would have been in Canada at that time, and we'll be in the happiest place on earth. :beach:

Oh it would be perfect for me if there was a huge storm on Jan 7th and we had to either stay 1 more day at WDW or delay returning to school/work by one more day. :goodvibes

We make tamales EVERY Christmas. It's just what we do... I can remember learning how to spread masa on the corn husks when I was 3. Funny is I won't have tamales anywhere else- only my momma's and only around Christmas. Just doesn't seem right... LOL

My girls get a kick out of that - they always call me out on my "mexican" time of year.

In Jan 2011 we left during a lull between two blizzards. We had no power at our house but as long as the plane took off, we didn't care. ;)

I wouldn't mind if we were stuck there. ;)
