Panama Canal Eastbound Sept. 14, 2013--it'll be WONDER-ful

Posting for two reasons tonight. First, I can't believe when you don't get on here for a few days HOW THE HECK MANY POSTS THERE ARE to go back and read!! :scared1:
Second, now I have a place marked to let me know where I read to. When I see my own post, I know I can stop there. LOL :rotfl2:

Anyone else stressed about packing for such a long cruise? :laundy: I have a DH who packs more than any woman I know. Of our usual 4 bags, I get one and he gets 3, and that's for 7 days! :scared:
We will for sure be doing this :laundy::laundy:
I am more worried about where to put all my shoes!!!!! princess:

Haven't had time to DIS for a month, need to catch up on this thread!

So excited for the cruise. Trying to keep up on the FB page at least.

Hope everyone has had a wonderful summer. Have just finished my FE gifts so that's an accomplishment at least.

That's normal! When Jack & I traveled with some women friends, they each had one bag. Between formal and semi-formal and Palo, we had several bags for suits, tuxes, tails, etc. It's much easier to roll up a slinky dress. :)

Well don't tell my DW and DD that anything but 1 bag is normal :rolleyes1 Took me years to convince them they don't need to pack so many clothes ;)

On the may Cruise, all three of us had one giant suitcase plus a extra one for all my FEs. I had a backpack. Me and my mom each had a purse. On the way home, which we had a extra week in Cali, all four suitcases were filled plus 3 backpacks. :/ there is laundry rooms which we went to super late at night and were done within a few hours.

We always have 1 large suitcase each, 1 carryon that has my computer, cameras and other very important stuff, my daughter usually has a backpack and usually we each have other small carry on bags or cases if needed.

Whew! What a day at work!! It was one of those bad ones!!!! It is really nice to come home and think about vacation after so much drama. :beach:

VACATION:
In the words of Duck Dynasty's Phil......... Happy, Happy, Happy! :cool1:

Received cruise docs and doing doc dance! Wish the cabin had been assigned also, but alas, not yet.

I did a bit of a search for washer sheets and found some called Washeze. In the research, found several reviews of military members using them. Some professed to like them better than the Purex. Since I had tried neither, I ordered the Washeze. Can be ordered directly through them (washeze.com) or on Amazon. They do give a free shipping break on 20. Look at their website for this offer. One feature I thought was nice is they offer scented and unscented.

I am going to try them at home first to experience the results which I'm hoping, is nice clean smelling clothes. ;)

I think my being too cleaver for my own good is why we are confused on meet time - on Facebook I listed the meet time as Pacific Time since that is where we will be, but being in Texas Central Time it is showing up later here - since it will be 12:30 pm vs 10:30 am central. Kathy is in my time zone so her post on here matches the time she is seeing on Facebook vs what time it will be when we are in LA...lol. Now is everyone confused more? The game plan was to do it mid morning but move it if there was a conflict with the Panama talks. We all thought it would be nicer since the first sea day is usually much easier than when everyone first gets on the ship and we have more time on this cruise than a 4 -7 night sailing. The only trick is figuring out a time and location since the 1st day you usually know the schedule - even though it is hectic - and the second day is unknown since the schedule is not out until you are on the ship. I do have an email out to the cruise director, but since they are constantly at sea it is unlikely we will be able to plan our events requiring space ahead of time - unless everyone wants to pitch in money to rent a space we can probably get for free once we can coordinate with the crew. Kathy is putting together not only the FE list, but also the wine tasting list and a list of everyone's cabin numbers. Her cabin is also the place to leave information if your number changes. We can send out group texts on the wave phones and every cabin will have two of these. As long as we have cabin numbers we can get updated information to everyone. Right now our back up location for meetings is Deck 6 aft - but most likely it will be at an inside location - like Studio Sea or Preludes.

Welcome new members! Kathy has also linked late dining - I have a 7 & 9 yr old so there are other kids in the group as well! It will be fun!

For us newbies. Can you just post date, time and location. Sorry, I'm still confused about this. Thx!

It's starting to look like we will be onboard, WITH the two new kiddos that we just had placed with us for adoption! The only thing that needs to be done, is we need to get their passports done and make sure that if we pay all the expediting fees, they will be done on time. As long as we can do that, we are IN!

Wow! Talk about setting a VERY high bar for ourselves with these kids in terms of vacation! They will have been with us a month and a half, and we will be visiting Disneyland AND going on a 14 night Disney Cruise. Their little minds may be blown! Let's just hope that they don't expect this to be the way vacation ALWAYS is! :o)

Great news!

Today,we (Russ & Janice) got some"Mickey" time in Orlando :dance3: We spent almost a whole day at the Magic Kingdom, it was too hot to stay any longer:beach:

Since this is our 1st Disney cruise we thought we needed to get in the Disney mode since the cruise is not far away. We have been to Disney (Land & World) many times and also Disney near Paris France. Our daughter got married at Disney World in Orlando. Looking forward to the cruise, we got the cruise documents, but Mickey will wait until it is very near to give us what stateroom we will be in as we are VGT. :cool1:

I got my docs over the weekend. I think that's the marker that psyches me up because the cruise finally seems within reach.

I reviewed my shore excursions and still haven't yet booked anything for Cartagena. Maybe the Old City Walking Tour? I can't decide.

Congratulations to fltink's added traveling companions! :)
