Panama Canal Eastbound Sept. 14, 2013--it'll be WONDER-ful

Hello -

I assume (hope, think) that everyone posting they got their room assignments was GTY and not *GT (like we are)?? You guys get your assignments about a month to 6 weeks out, we tend to get ours about 2 weeks out....

Very encouraging news that some people are getting luggage tags!! I haven't checked yesterday's mail yet, but I am hoping ours are there!! surprise

Thanks so much for posting the information about the Gty vs GT. We are in the GT boat as well. I check daily to see if we have a cabin assignment.

I think my being too cleaver for my own good is why we are confused on meet time - on Facebook I listed the meet time as Pacific Time since that is where we will be, but being in Texas Central Time it is showing up later here - since it will be 12:30 pm vs 10:30 am central. Kathy is in my time zone so her post on here matches the time she is seeing on Facebook vs what time it will be when we are in LA...lol. Now is everyone confused more? The game plan was to do it mid morning but move it if there was a conflict with the Panama talks. We all thought it would be nicer since the first sea day is usually much easier than when everyone first gets on the ship and we have more time on this cruise than a 4 -7 night sailing. The only trick is figuring out a time and location since the 1st day you usually know the schedule - even though it is hectic - and the second day is unknown since the schedule is not out until you are on the ship. I do have an email out to the cruise director, but since they are constantly at sea it is unlikely we will be able to plan our events requiring space ahead of time - unless everyone wants to pitch in money to rent a space we can probably get for free once we can coordinate with the crew. Kathy is putting together not only the FE list, but also the wine tasting list and a list of everyone's cabin numbers. Her cabin is also the place to leave information if your number changes. We can send out group texts on the wave phones and every cabin will have two of these. As long as we have cabin numbers we can get updated information to everyone. Right now our back up location for meetings is Deck 6 aft - but most likely it will be at an inside location - like Studio Sea or Preludes.

Welcome new members! Kathy has also linked late dining - I have a 7 & 9 yr old so there are other kids in the group as well! It will be fun!

DISTurtle, We are also military cruising on our 2 nd Disney cruise. fortunately for us we are only coming from San Diego, not Guam! Good luck with that! We also did The Med cruise a couple years ago while stationed in Rota. That worked out great. My parents are also joining us for their first ever cruise and their 50th wedding anniversary!

HEIDIELIZABETH, it sounds like we have quite a bit in common. We are very interested in doing the Med cruise as well, but will have to see where the military takes us next before we book that cruise. My folks just celebrated their 45 th anniversary the end of July. Hoping we have the opportunity to connect during the cruise. Our plane arrives around 0600 the day before he cruise...should be interesting keeping ourselves busy, while trying to stay awake waiting for check-in. Shopping is pretty dismal and crazy expensive here on Guam, so I am looking forward to hitting the mall for the day, much to my husbands shigrin:-)

Hey, I responded a few posts back about how we are also military. We were also in Japan . I agree the kids sometimes take it all in stride better than we do! We have 5 kids ages 4-14. What about you?

Our girls are 5 & 10. We were in Japan 05 to 09 and thoroughly loved the experience! We would go back tomorrow if we could.

These are the navigators last Eastbound PC.

I see you are a member military (or your husband is). I hope you got the military rate on this cruise. Disney has a wonderful program for us.

I am retired Air Force(medically) I was a flight paramedic (UH-1 and Blackhawks)

We are both military. Married prior to coming in and much closer to the end than the beginning of our careers. Our father's are both retired Air Force...we both strayed and joined the Navy. We have enjoyed a few Disney cruises utilizing the military rate...it really makes a big difference and we appreciate what Disney does for us.

Miss a weekend and miss a lot! Softball tournaments are done for the year, so that should free us up a bit. Now to get through fair season...

This cruise is really sneaking up on me. We still need travel arrangements to the airport in Texas and travel arrangements for LA. We are still debating on whether or not to spend the money on PPH or just stay where we are at the Fairfield. Too much to do yet.

YAY!!!!!!!!!! I feel like I can finally start OBSESSING about this trip! (uh, i guess I have been!)....but 40 days seems like a realistic time frame to really get in the getting ready mode.

Hotel rooms & transportation - check
Excursions & Palo - check
Fish Extenders & Postcards/Recipe - uh, gotta get moving!

Forgive me, please... I tried the search function in the iPad app without any luck (and scrolling through over 1500 posts on this roll call will take a very, very long time), so here's my question:

The Extreme Canopy excursion in Puerto Vallarta is already sold out through the cruise line. We're looking at Los Verranos for a zip line adventure that day - Tuesday, 9/17. The schedule looks very tight, which is obviously a concern.

Any thoughts on how flexible the Los Verranos team is with returning early? Anyone on the cruise have a private zip line tour booked and care to share some details on provider, times, etc.?

Thanks.

Thanks for clarification, I think you mean Deck 7 aft though.

Not sure when our documents arrived, since we rarely go to the post office on the weekends, but I now have them in my hands.
