Panama Canal Eastbound Sept. 14, 2013--it'll be WONDER-ful

We're out in the South Pacific, Philippine Sea on one side of the island and the Pacific Ocean on the other. Thank goodness our girls have been on so many long trips between car rides across the USA and flights to and from Japan and the US and now Guam and the US they don't know anything different. I seriously think they take it better than DH and I do :-). Where are you coming from?

I have gone ahead and put DisTurtle on the list since they joined the roll call a while back. That is the last one I plan on adding without going thru . . . . I will tell you how I work it if it arises again.

That gives our final count at 34 cabins, with 1 dog, 11 boys and 14 girls.

If you don't have the link to the FE document please let me know and the two that have less than 10 posts, hurry and talk to us more so that I can pm you the list!!!

Any questions, please let me know.

Hi, I'm finally at ten. The hills don't have a dis page so I will give them the list.

Anyone know the best place (online) to find Pirate night accessories?

I have ordered pirate accessories for my DD from www.orientaltrading.com
They have reasonable prices and she has used her outfit for several cruises.

I think I have seen information on one of the threads, but I can't seem to locate it. I tried searching fish extenders on EBay and cannot get any results either. Does anyone know where I can order a fish extender? I have a pattern to make one, but in the interest of dedicating time to making FE gifts, I will probably order one.

I have always made mine. On one of the FE threads, I think I remember someone giving the name of a person that they can be ordered from. I will try to look later and see if I can remember where I saw it.

And congrats on the 10 posts, I will now get you the list!!

You did very well, and thank you for getting the others the list. Appreciate that.

As I get room numbers I will list them and as long as everyone keeps the link you can see them as soon as I put them in. I will try to keep you posted on the number of stateroom numbers needed over the next few weeks.

This will be our first cruise longer than 7 days. Do they offer more activities on the longer cruises, or just repeat what they currently do during the 7 day cruise the second week?

They definitely offer more activities on the longer cruises, especially on ones such as this with many sea days. For example, in the evening we may have more guest performers for the mainstage shows or additional DCL shows such as a Crew Talent Show or "Once Upon a Song". There may also be evenings in which the kids have a special movie night while adult-only time is offered in the Oceaneer Lab. During the day, there may be special guests brought onboard for lectures or workshops. There may be more installments of the popular "Art of Entertaining" cooking demonstrations.

I think I missed the change, is the 12:30 for the DIS meet or would that have been something they are doing on facebook ? I was thinking we were looking at a mid morning day after boarding meet, just trying to stay away from Canal Pilot talk if one is scheduled (sorry if I missed the discussion on this)

I don't know about facebook as I'm not on that group; I'm going by what was posted in post #14 of this thread by Twokats.

We live in Australia and we are on the west coast, we drive for 2 hours to the airport 4:15 min flight to the East coast and then a not quite 15 hour flight to LA makes for a very long day :)

I shouldn't complain, at least we have a short layover in HI. No direct flights to LA from Guam. Our drive to the airport however is a short one, since the island is only approx 220 square miles and we live near the center. We had the opportunity to visit Perth in 2006 and had a wonderful time. Hopefully we can visit Australia again before we leave Guam. It is a beautiful country!

Great. Thank you for the "sneak peak" into activities on the longer cruises.

Thank you. I'll check Oriental Trading to see what pirate accessories they have. We are very fortunate to have my mom who loves to sew and always makes our daughters costumes. This will be the first cruise DH and I will join in on the costume fun on pirate night. Can't wait to see how our kids react.

Hi, and welcome to our group. To answer your question about fish extenders, I bought my fish extender from etsy.com.

Great news on your travel documents...now your ready to go! Thank you for the information on the fish extenders. I'll check out the site you recommended. We'll be cruising before we know it

My daughters Documents yesterday. She signed up a week ago for this cruise. I am platinum member , did my documents get here. Noooo lol

Thank you all for allowing us to join the FE late. We have cruised Disney before, but this is the first time we have joined the DISboards and the FE. We are military coming from Guam and my parents will be meeting us in LA to join us on their first-ever cruise. They will not be participating in the FE with us. I'll get busy getting more goodies together. I have been looking at Facebook posts for additional ideas and the DISboard threads are helpful as well. Thank again everyone for helping out the newbie:)

DISTurtle, We are also military cruising on our 2 nd Disney cruise. fortunately for us we are only coming from San Diego, not Guam! Good luck with that! We also did The Med cruise a couple years ago while stationed in Rota. That worked out great. My parents are also joining us for their first ever cruise and their 50th wedding anniversary!

Hey, I responded a few posts back about how we are also military. We were also in Japan . I agree the kids sometimes take it all in stride better than we do! We have 5 kids ages 4-14. What about you?

Hello -

I went out of town last weekend so I was kind of preoccupied, and then all last week I was wondering why no one was posting on here (since I wasn't getting any emails letting me KNOW of any posts). So last night I decided to check this thread out - and I had missed like 10 pages of postings!! Not sure why I didn't get any emails, but I think I have caught up now.

So - here are all my catch up posts!! Sorry for the length!

Welcome aboard pixiedust: to all new cruisers!!

Congratulations!! :cheer2: To everyone with new kids, grandkids, kids that are doing exceptionally well, any anyone else I may have forgotten!

I assume (hope, think) that everyone posting they got their room assignments was GTY and not *GT (like we are)?? You guys get your assignments about a month to 6 weeks out, we tend to get ours about 2 weeks out....

Very encouraging news that some people are getting luggage tags!! I haven't checked yesterday's mail yet, but I am hoping ours are there!!

Someone posted about late dining seat mates - we are a family of 4 (Myself, my mother - who turn 80 this month and for whom this cruise is a birthday present - my 6 year old son and my 9 year old son.) We have late seating and I would love to find another family with kids around the same age - or really, just children period as my boys get along with older and younger kids. My older child is shy and a little awkward, but once he gets to know someone he is very social. My younger child is NOT shy and very social. They both enjoy those long dinners so much more if there are other kids to talk to. In the past DCL has always seated us with another family or we linked with past cruisers/DIS friends, but if anyone here is interested in requesting seating together, let me know. You can PM me, or if you are a newbie and unable to PM yet, just post on here.

FE list!!! Wow, I cannot believe how much it has grown in the last few days!! I took a chance - I didn't think there would be this many latecomers on such a long cruise - and went ahead and ordered my FEs for the adults, the ones where I got one per cabin. I ordered a couple extras, but not enough to cover all the newbies. But, no problemo, it's cool, because I am just going to get online and order some more. :thumbsup2 The more the merrier, I say, and I will even order a couple extra in case some more join us. Today I am going shopping (tax free weekend - yeah!) for gifts for the kids on the FE list :cool1::cool1:

Finally, in addition to my mom's 80th birthday, my husband and I celebrate 10 years of marriage on September 20th! :flower3: Unfortunately, my husband isn't going on the cruise with us as he can't get time off work  BUT, we are going to surprise our kids and he is going to meet us in Cabo San Lucas on September 16! I just finalized the air and hotel reservations this week. He will fly to Cabo the day we board the ship and meet us on the 16th, then leave the next day to go back to work. :cheer2:
