You know, poohbear, reading your account of your race sooooo reminds me of why I didn't sign up for a 10k for time. I know this sounds crazy, but before I ever sign up for a local race, I always read last year's results just to make sure I can hang and not finish last. I'm ok with near the last, just not really last. It seems like around here, the 10k distance is only for "serious" athletes. There is a wide range of finishing times for 5k's and half marathons, but for some reason, 10k's are completely different. In looking at last year's times for all of the 10k's I considered, not only would I have finished dead last, but by at least 15 minutes in some cases. So, I'll just take whatever corral placement Disney wants me to have, train my heart out, and let the chips fall where they may.
