I just don't understand why the writers/producers wouldn't have left that possibility open.
Obviously, b/c they are not as smart as you are!!!! I think you need to go help them write these dang scripts ... then you can give us the inside scoop!

I seriously don't think it is Rex in the basement. I agree with SRUAlmn. I was under the impression that whoever is in the basement has been for a long time. If that is the case then it couldn't be Rex, Paul, or Zach as has been mentioned. I also thought the mother/son seemed a little too "cuddly." BUT I do think they are mother/son and that maybe mommy is a little too fond of her son or is having a hard time letting him grow up or something...I don't know. It drives me nuts that it will probably be during the season finale before anything is answered. We had to wait all season last time to find out what the deal was with Mary Alice. I figure it is going to be that way this time too.

As far as if Rex is really dead, he probably is. It just seems like it would be an interesting twist if he wasn't and had faked it. I wasn't even thinking about a fake body or anything to that effect. I just can't believe they suddenly killed him off the show. I am sure I will learn to accept it eventually...and then they probably will bring him back just to mess with my mind even more! :rotfl:

I dont know if its true or not but I heard John the lawn guy was only going to appear in the 1st 3 episodes and then he will be gone. Anyone else hear this?? :confused3

I haven't heard that but I would be okay with it honestly. I am a bit tired of him and the whole Gaby/John storyline. Am I the only one? :confused3

Not that reliable of a source though (someone at work) but I she claimed to have read that in an entertainment magazine recently. . .

Who was the African-American gentleman who played a cop/detective last season? I think he met with Edie once, seemed to know Mike, and also met with Susan? Do you think the new family have any relation to him at all? I thought it was odd that the son needed to carry a gun even though it seemed like the "hand" was shackled. And I think there is some reason that Betty Applewhite (is that the new neighbor's name?) kept on commenting on the rose. I believe it has some meaning, just don't have any ideas.

Aha! I think I figured it out! The guy in the shackles will be the next Bachelor- hence the rose :rotfl: :rotfl:

My DD thinks its the Husband too. :confused3 It has to be SOMEONE inportant to some of the characters. ;)

Yes -- I just read this in Entertainment magazine. He's off making a movie and will only be in a few episodes. However, they're hoping he'll be back for more later on (maybe next season?).

New neighbor plays organ at Rex's funeral as Bree asked her to. New neighbor and son Matthew are hiding someone locked up in their basement. The last scene shows them taking a meal tray down to locked up person with a red rose on tray-that new neighbor keeps referring to. We see a hand with a shackle on it reach up to tray., Looked like black hand to me.

I hate this story line, you hear to many sick people out their that chain their kids up and don't feed them, they didn't need to go with this story line. Sorry, just my opinion

In all fairness..this episode was completed before the stories of those children. It was not a child in the episode.

I'm pretty sure Rex is really dead!! Why would the producers, directors, etc answer a question with a boldface lie? Certainly that could have just witheld and answer! :rotfl:

Days of our Lives killed of a big chunk of cast and they were off the show for a year or more. And their contracts expired. :confused3

Not that soap operas are the epitome of fine television viewing....but it has been done.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: That statement cracked me up!!! Thanks for the laugh! :rotfl:

I still think the person in the basement must be a family member and not a current cast member. If I remember correctly, the Applegates moved from out of town, so how would they be able to kidnap someone current? Doesn't make sense to me.

Just had to share...

Dh told me to go ahead and pick out my Christmas presents this year. He wanted to make sure I got exactly what I wanted. So while he was at work I went to Walmart and put a few things in layaway, including the 1st season of Desperate Housewives (almost $50, wow!) and handed him the receipt when he came home. All he has to do is get it out of layaway and wrap it, lol!

I am currently looking at some clothes on JCPenney.com and that is going to be where my other gifts come from. Funny how we said we weren't even going to buy eachother gifts this year and you see how that turned out! :rotfl:

Don't worry he is getting things he wants this year too! ;)

Just found the thread, thanks for the bump. :Pinkbounc

I saw the Zach being Mikes son thing coming for a long time now. (after all Dedire was the mother.......... makes perfect sense.)

I also have a hard time with Rex being gone.

I agree the person in the basement is not someone we know, most likely a family member, father is a good guess. The question is why is he there.
