Official 2015 Disneyland Half Marathon Thread.

Same here. It's so bizarre. They are still killing me this morning. Maybe I need to do some yoga!
Yeah...like, obviously I'm putting more effort in during the races but I don't get that sore after speedwork workouts. Maybe it's a combination of running faster + elevation changes?
Ugh, I feel that. I did BodyPump (again, against my better judgment) - and I can barely reach my arms up above my shoulders. :worried:
I seriously had visions of myself not being able to open the car door after to go home - but I DID IT!
Thanks!! Unfortunately my 10K POT is still better than this one. That's why part of me was aiming for under 2:05 as it would have most likely bumped me up a corral. DH has the same POT as me and isn't planning to get a new one, so I guess it's moot since I want to be able to run with him. I think it's more just to prove it to myself that I can do it. I've got another half in 2 weeks, so maybe I can do it then.
That's where I am. I need to run a 2:05 to get bumped up to the next corral. Seems like a pretty tall task for me. :crazy2:
I haven't gotten the hang of these multi-quotes tools yet......but I am in a similar position with POT for DL as no matter what corral I get assigned, I will make sure I'm in the same corral as my DW. Had a shot at a half PR last week, making great time but my legs weren't feeling too good so I backed off. Have another half in 3 weeks and a 10k the week after and then I am done until Disney.

So I didn't think my legs were too sore after TRX on Saturday, but yesterday I had a 7-miler on my schedule - YOWZA. I wasn't in crazy pain, but I definitely had that dead-legged feeling - thanks TRX rocket squats!! :faint:

If nothing else, TRX definitely taught me that my arms are weak little noodles. My triceps and biceps are still sore this morning.

Yes TRX kicks my butt. Once I took out a run group and thought I would just go to TRX after what a mistake. The brain thinks it can do it body has another answer! Never to do that mistake again. Even on the morning I do an early spin class with a couple of hours in between it is hard. But I have seen a difference in my running it has made me stronger. It is the love hate relationship. I have never done a 10k and then a half the next day I know this is just in my head.

Well, once again my notifications for this thread just fell off the face of the earth  So I've just caught up on the last 4 pages lol!

There are too many posts to reply individually, but congrats to everyone improving their times!

And Keels, you gotta do what's right for you. Plus, if you defer, it will mean you have something to look forward to next year :thumbsup2

Got a new Half PR this weekend  2:08:39 2 min and 20 seconds faster than my very first half that I did in 2011. I haven't been able to get that since then, so I was super excited.

My goal was under 2:10 and by golly I got it! I was on pace for under 2:05 until mile 7 and some crazy hills started. There was a gradual incline for half a mile at mile 10. It was nuts. Then it started snowing...in Mississippi...in March. That's not normal here. I also think that I started out a little too strong. Must learn to pace myself.

YAY!!! That's great! Congrats!

thanks Ariel....I've got that part but not sure how to insert my comments between them.

I guess one of the side effects of getting older, is collecting doctors. I'm back from my new Orthopedist with the official diagnosis of what we already knew -- I've got a case of "Plantar Fasciitis".
So I get to wear inserts in my shoe, do regular foot stretching/toe scrunchies, pop some top self drugs (anti-inflammatory) for a month or so and and as he put it "Don't be a wimp".

So training is back on the table! Frederick running festival here I come.

Ouch!! Hope you feel better soon!

Well, I just tried a TRX basics class. It was good and definitely a good class, but right now I just like yoga better. :confused3 I seem to have a short attention span when it comes to cross training though, so I could potentially see myself going to TRX regularly at some point.

Also - I was wearing a shirt from a local half marathon (the girl version with pink writing) and the gentleman next to me had on the same shirt, by the boy version (blue writing). We were cool running twins. ::yes::
Quoting myself like a weirdo.

In my continuing quest to find cross training I *REALLY* like (I think I'm starting to get a little burned out on yoga), I signed up for a group strength training class that takes place on Wednesday...at 5:15AM. :faint: I hope I am able to wake up for it!!

That sucks! Feel better soon! I use Voltaren has helped me . Especially on putting on the extra miles.

OMG. I'd rather do BodyPump every day for a week than wake up for a class at 5:15 a.m. #NightOwl

5:15 AM!!! Just think what great training that will be for early RunDisney wake up calls.

I think you mentioned you are a type A planner, so maybe training yourself to get up early was part of the plan all along.

I KNOW. There's also a 6:15AM class, but that would be cutting it close for me to get a shower and get to work on time. And I am not one of those gals that can work out and look perfect at the end - fresh as a daisy with zero sweat. I will NEED that shower.

Uh...yeah...that was totally part of my plan! ;)

Thank you...I'm guessing the first class won't be pretty...

I'm sure that's a relief. Someone told me to try rolling a golf ball under your foot to help with the discomfort.....I'm not a doctor I just play one on the DIS forum.
Running hills Tuesday and felt like my hammy was literally going to burst so decided to slow it down and fight another day. Can only image the months something like that might set me back. Get better soon.

I will send you happy, non-sweaty thoughts as I'm heading to bed around that time! Yikes!

@SgtTibbs -- that stinks! Rolling the foot on a tennis ball or a frozen water bottle has helped my husband in the past! Also - new shoes/inserts!

I've set my alarm for many early morning workouts that got skipped for sleeping in, so good luck! It's actually kind of nice to get up and do a workout in the morning though. Just doesn't happen very often.

That sucks, I'm sorry! I tore that last year and totally feel your pain. Something that might work for you, it worked for me once I was healed, was the Moji foot massage and the foot wheel. The foot wheel is like a foam roller, really painful at 1st but once you get used to it, it's not that bad. This is what it looks like ~ rs.jpg
I tried the frozen water bottle and golf ball, but for me, those weren't able to get deep enough to break down the scarring tissue, but that also could be b/c it was a tear and not plantar. KT Tape once you start running again works. One strip up the middle of your foot to your lower calf and one starting on your arch from the inside of your foot to the outside of your ankle. Hope it heals fast for you!
