Official 2015 Disneyland Half Marathon Thread.

Hi,

I'm in for the 5K and DDD.

Also ... a little along those lines, but does anyone else find it curious that Star Wars doesn't have an on sale date yet? I think we're going to see a big announcement - probably at Star Wars weekend that relates to that race/race(s).

Keels, RunDisney released this on their twitter feed. General registration for the Star Wars weekend events opens June 16th. They also listed the registration dates for Princess and Tinkerbell for next year.

@zanzibar138 -- I'm thinking about late lunch at Carthay as well! I've promised the husband we could spend this day drinking around DCA, so I'm sure we'll hit CarsLand, Screamin' and (his favorite) Tower of Terror. If the weather is pretty, I loved sitting out at Cove Bar. But the Carthay Lounge menu is calling to me!

WoC is my absolute favorite Disney experience right now, so I know we'll be there.

No new training plans yet...

*impatient*

Now I'm wondering if they'll wait to make changes to the website (i.e. Post the training plans) until after Avengers registration is done tomorrow. Hmmm...

One of the great things about these boards is hearing that you guys are all having the same thoughts as I am, and obsessively checking the training programs links like I am. It makes me feel a little less crazy. Ha ha.

Since today was 5 months until the half-marathon they should have posted it by today, but in all truth runDisney could post the training programs around the end of April and it would still give everyone the full 18/19 weeks. (I think we are currently a little over 22 weeks away.) But I'm hoping once the Avengers registration calms down later this week they might post the updates.

This will be my first trip to CA, so unlike our super planned out WDW trips, we plan to "go with the flow" somewhat.

Friday - Arrive at LAX at 12:00. Grab our rental and head to Anaheim. Check in at Castle Inn and Suites so we can dump our car for free. Walk over to the expo, bib pick up, shop, explore the DL resorts and check out DTD for dinner. Not sure what time our bodies will crash, so we will play it by ear how much we can get done.
We will need to make a quick grocery stop for breakfast items, too.

Saturday - depending on what time our east coast bodies wake up, try to catch some of the 10K and then head to the beach. No plans on what beach exactly at this point, or how long we will stay, but I'm not getting this close to the Pacific Ocean without at least putting my toes in. :beach: We will just have a relaxing day, grab meals somewhere along the way. My DH and I will be traveling with our youngest kid - 16 year old DD, so I may give her control over what we do and see this day.

Sunday - Race day and then head to a park!!

Monday - Park from RD to close!!

Tuesday - flight home at 1pm :( We could get in one last walk through DTD or consider breakfast at one of the DL resorts if we get up in time.

I have a training plan laid out for the entire summer - primarily following Hal Higdon's intermediate plan muliple times. This will cover a 10K in May, local 1/2 in June and then the DL half and W&D. I'd still like to see Galloway's plan to compare what I have worked out.

Weird. Because if you look on RunDisney, it doesn't have an On Sale date on the drop-down? I was just surprised that the added it to Princess, but not to Star Wars. It's on the page, but not the menu dropdown ...

Yeah, I see what you mean. They just aren't 100% great at keeping their website updated. And lately they are doing better than they used to (for example - all of the dates for the upcoming race weekends are updated. Didn't used to be like that!).

::yes:: Just checked again - nada. And if the thought that they're waiting for registrations to be done is true, and they don't get them up this week, I'm not sure what'll happen next week since that'll be early registration for Marathon Weekend in January. :confused3

But you're right that they could wait until the last week of April and still be "safe" to post them and give people enough time to get started.

I've got you all taken care of!

So, looking back at past posts and thinking about the Expo ... does it bum anybody else out that there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of Coast to Coast finishers gear - or even C2C gear in general?

Yeah, I won't finish C2C until Wine & Dine, but if I was going to buy a bunch of finishers gear, it would probably be for that.

Nevermind. Who am I kidding? I will buy all the gears. All of them.

THANKS PAL! :teeth:

Yeah, I was hoping to be sneaky and pick up my C2C gear at the expo in January - figured there would be less people to fight for it there. But I only remember seeing short-sleeved tech shirts and nothing else, so I'm hoping for more of a selection in September. :confused3

I'll keep my fingers crossed too! You'd think Disney wouldn't pass up an opportunity to sell more stuff, right? Especially with TWO C2C Challenges now.

Oh my god yes!! I've always thought that and put it in surveys whenever I get them. Something a simple as a dual C2C 5x7 frame so you could put a race photo from each race would be awesome. A shirt and pin aren't anything and we've all seen... (and been ;)) how much stuff people buy at the rD expos you'd think they'd catch on.

I mean, I would hand over my wallet if there was a finisher's jacket with the Partners logo on it.

Keels---just send your wallet overnite to me and I would be glad to print you up something nice.

I suspect by the time I get to the expo on Friday many items will already be sold out. I keep telling myself this so I'm mentally prepared. This might not be a bad thing in the long run. Will certainly help my budget and I know there will be plenty of DL items to keep me happy.

Question regarding C2C items? Are they the same at all the expos? Meaning, the items don't mention specific races or dates??? I'll finish my C2C at the W&D, but if I saw something I wanted in CA, I would grab it and put it away until Nov.

If they release photos of merchandise and you see something you want, let me know. I'll hopefully be there Thurdsday and would be happy to pick anything up for you.

Same here!

Yes, the C2C stuff is the same at all the races. It changes year to year but it's not race specific.

Fellow Dooney lovers...for the 60th:

Not totally sure what I think yet. Need to see in person to decide...though if I find the letter carrier in the top picture (all the way to the left) with that EXACT placement...it will be mine. ::yes::
