For those interested, here is my letter to WDW Dining

ATTENTION: WDW Guest Services, Meg Crofton and President, WDW Dining

My name is ________________. I am writing in regards to my completely unacceptable experience with Disney Dining this morning, Tuesday, October 27th, 2009.

Megan Huntley

Disney is not exempt from experiencing technical difficulties. As much as Disney provides us with the magic they do, I can guarantee that they are not sitting there scratching their heads with their feet on their desks trying to figure out how to get ADR's back up and running. I am sure they have their entire tech team working hard to resolve the issue. Be patient. Sorry to hear about your bill. I would suggest booking your ADR's online if long distance is a problem for you. That is your own fault for running your bill up when there was no guarantee as to how long you would be waiting on hold.. We are all waiting, it is not just you. Yes people are frustrated, many thousands of people are trying to make ADR's.
Be patient and stop being upset about something that NO ONE has any control over at the time being. :sad2:

Argh! System is down, but at least the CM was kind enough to put me back in the call queue instead of making me disconnect. I'll be so happy (and exhausted) when this is over. I've been up since 2:45 am.

Got thru twice in the last half hour, but both times told no reservations could be made. Glad my kids like to watch TV!

When i finally got through for the 1st time today (about 5 mins ago), I was told wait time was <2 mins. Call answered in about 4 mins. Agent said sorry, system is "undergoing an enhancement" and can i pls call back in 2-3 hours! This is really not worth getting aggrevated over...

The do in fact have control. They could have planned and implemented the entire window extension better. If you had actually read my letter you would see that online reservations AREN'T AVAILABLE. What other choice do I have if I want to get reservations for my trip?

I also mentioned that tens of thousands of other guests are being inconvienienced.

I suggest you actually READ my post in it's entirety before making judgements about it. Thank you.

on hold (again). The Disney music stopped playing a few minutes ago. That can't be a good sign.

Yeah!! Just called about 10 minutes ago...got right through to the phone prompts and it said my wait will be less than 2 minutes. It was about 4 minutes and proceded to make my reservations. Got everything we wanted within 15-20 of the original time we wanted! Wish I didnt wake up at 2am today....could've just gotten a good night sleep and waited til mid-day and still get what we want! I am glad that is over!!!

Wow... almost 500 messages posted since I last checked this thread at 9:15 am.

(I don't think I have time to read them all. :()

As many on this thread have suggested, they could have drawn the ADR window back in stages. They could also have fortified their online system.

It is not like a concert or a radio contest. Every guest going to WDW should have the opportunity to book dining reservations and this morning, due to poor planning and organizations thousands of people have yet to get a dial tone let alone reservations!

That wouldn't have worked either.
The lines would have been jammed on multiple days then instead of just one. Then you woul hear this complaint for a month no stop. This way, get it over and done.

It is just like a concert. Unless you know some secret and get call and get tickets to any concert the minutes they go on sale. Millions of people try hours and hours to get tickets and can't. Only difference there is once it's sold out, you have to pay 3 to 5 times for the same thing then.
Here, you still could call later, the day of, or just show up at opening the day you want to eat.

You do have an opportunity.
You have from now till the end of March to call.
No one made you get up and call the first day.
You did that by your own choice.

Poor Planning? Really? do you know for a fact the Logistics of any other way? Do you you really think no one thought the lines would be busy and the website might crash? Are you really assuming they just said, we're doing it this way and if people don't like it, tough we don't care?
Doesn't sound like that's likely to me.

I think your just frustrated and venting. The problem is everyone who was so obsessed with calling the first minute possible, knew this was likely. So why the shocking complaint? Yet you still got what you wanted so I don't see the problem.

Just got through again... he was able to pull up my hotel reservation... we'll see if he can place my ADRs....please work... please work... please work... he put me on hold...

Online ADR's are booked off of the exact same system as the telephone ADR's. If one is down, the other is down. Disney had to do that at some point....and they knew this would happen, yes. Just like any other company that implements a new offer or changes an existing offer. Yes people are being inconvenienced. If it bothers you so much, why don't you wait 2 weeks for the crowds calling in to die down. And yes, at this point Disney has no control.....it is like a land slide. All they can do is make the ADR's as the system will allow them to until their tech support is able to resolve the issue.

Well, my journey began at 5:30 am Central Time and I finally have a happy ending. The Dining # just gave me repeated "all circuits are busy" messages. Sometimes a woman, sometimes a man, either way no pixie dust.

At 10:15 CT, I got through to DVC Member Services. I was on hold with them for approximately 25 minutes. A wonderful CM was able to secure all my ADRs for our trip Mar 13-21. Each one took at least 2-3 minutes (some longer than that!) to go through the system. She said she is supposed to put them all in the "cart" and check out once but people kept losing thier ADRs that way. She entered and checked out each one seperately. It took a while. Crazy!

Here's what we were able to get for our party of 6

Mar 13- 1900 Park Faire- Dinner
Mar 14- Le Cellier- Lunch
Mar 15- Liberty Tree Tavern- Lunch
Mar 16- Marrakesh- Dinner
Mar 17- Mama Melrose- Lunch

Good luck to everyone still trying to get through!

I'm still on hold, listening to the delightful Mainstreet USA theme and Typhoon Lagoon commercial. Let me tell you, I'd rather hear this than the busy signal I heard for 5 hours this morning.

WHOAAAAAAAAAAA Just got through!! Got Hoop De Doo already.
