Idaho college murders

And then didn't think to call the police until almost noon. That part baffles me.

Yes, and the emergency call was for someone unconscious when clearly there was blood everywhere. The suspect also asked arresting officers if anyone else was arrested, which may be him making a case for himself, or maybe he actually had help inside.

His parents don’t think he did it.

Of course they don't. They are in denial.

I love my kids. They are my entire world. But I will tell you, if they are ever connected to such a heinous crime with direct DNA evidence, they are dead to me.

We don't really know the timeline yet. The affidavit says the car was seen speeding away from the residence at 4:20am and returned around 9am. BUT it also said one of the victims received a Doordash order at 4am and was on TikTok on her phone at 4:12am, so she couldn't have been asleep. Brian likely came by around 4:20, saw that the lights were all on, and took off. He came back later in the morning, everyone was asleep (which they would be, after being up until after 4am the night before) and did the killings. The roommates who were still alive hid in their rooms for a couple hours, at most, before coming out and calling 911.

The police reported things a certain way to not lead on about how much evidence they had. Their early reporting was likely not completely forthcoming. They correctly assumed he was still in the area and didn't want to endanger the remaining roommates. Saying the roommates slept through the attack and didn't witness anything kept them from becoming targets.

As a parent, I feel bad for his family. They probably felt convinced of his innocence, but the evidence seems damning.

The roommate saw him in the house in the 4am timeframe.

That makes no sense. So the victims were awake and eating their Doordash food when he broke in? I thought they were killed in their sleep?

there is a part of me that LOVES the fact that the accused who was working on his phd in criminology and has been described by multiple former and current friends/educators/students as very arrogant and self-impressed of his own intelligence/proactive to make certain others aware of it-found out today it was a wsu campus cop who thought to run the car description through the parking permit database.

You can’t believe everything they release early in an investigation like when the suspect is still at large. It’s all crafted to catch the suspect and keep potential witnesses safe.

The story has evolved in the past day or two since court documents were released with more details. Yesterday was the first time we’d heard that Xena ordered doordash and it was delivered around 4am. We also didn’t know before that Dylan actually saw the murderer and that he walked right by her on his way out (of the second floor sliding door - which is a little confusing also, since before we were told she was a floor below). Or about the knife sheath being found next to Kaylee and that it provided DNA from the suspect. More questions have emerged such as why did Dylan not call 911 at that time, or until 7 hours later. We also learned the suspect drove back by their house around 9am, maybe to see why there wasn’t anything on the news about the murders, ie to admire his handiwork? Lots of details came out yesterday but undoubtedly there are still many more to come. Such a horrifying and tragic story.

interesting-the accused applied for an internship this past fall with the pullman police and in the essay he wrote for it said he wanted to help rural police learn how to better collect and analyze technological crime data. it's being reported that these killings were planned out months in advance-sounds to me like he was also planning out how to get an inside observer's seat to the investigation as well.

It appears this man was a serial killer in training, I’m curious to see if he is linked to any other cases.

just saw a report where it was said his home state is now looking into unsolved cases to see if there could be any connection to him b/c based on the profiles of these types it's almost unheard of to have one start out with a quadruple murder.

I don’t get how he goes through all that effort to “learn” & then leaves a knife sheath with dna? The whole thing is so bizarre.

He could have wanted it to be a serial killer calling card.

It only had "one strand" of DNA on the snap, so it could be he thought he had fully cleaned it, but it's very hard to be perfect...

Oh that makes more sense. Still can’t understand why roommate who survived didn’t call 911 🤷‍♀️

Look into how Dennis Rader got caught and it will blow your mind.

That is the nagging question.

An "expert" I saw last night said that possibly after she saw him and "froze" she then fell into a deep sleep because she had been out drinking.

That doesn't seem likely.

And when a call was finally made,it was to Frat friends and not a 911 call to Police.

There must be something in the eventual 911 call to Police that may explain the delay because they won't release the Call or the names of the multiple people who spoke on the call.

i think there is much we won't learn until the trial. the actual details of the killings have been redacted from the public records so along with the non dissemination order in place that prohibits any communication by investigators, law enforcement personnel, attorneys, and agents of the prosecuting attorney or defense attorney concerning this case anything we hear until the actual trial will be speculation and hearsay.

idaho is pretty good at keeping information under wraps-there are still allot of details in the daybell/vallow case that hasn't been uncovered despite the best efforts of the international media that's been covering it for the past 3 years.

That is the part I have a hard time understanding. I know more may come out but I'm trying to image a scenario where I hear sounds that are suspicious, then see a masked man in my home, and don't think to do something other than go to bed when they leave. If she was too scared to go into the room he just exited why go back to bed? Further how do you call the police and tell them their visibly stabbed roommates were "unconscious".

I'm trying to put myself in that place and I can't imagine not checking in on my roommates or at the very least calling/texting them to see what the heck was going on. It is very bizarre.

Best I've got is that she didn't call police b/c she was worried about facing legal culpability for the possible substances in her system. Those substances both clouded her judgment and gave her bad judgment.

The only other thing I got is that more illegal things happened in that house on the regular related to substances - thus calling the frat brothers over for the discussion before the 911 call.

I mean, I'd hate to think her parents taught her so few life skills and yet let her go away to college and that she didn't call b/c she didn't know to do so. I mean, 911 is what you teach 5 year olds to call in an emergency.
