The sliding glass doors were on the second and third floors. Initially we were led to believe that both Dylan and Bethany were asleep on the first floor. But it came out in the affadavit the other day that Dylan was actually on the second floor where she saw the killer go out the sliding glass door on the second floor.

Being that people came and went and there were parties it would make sense she could sleep through it. My boyfriend step brother accidentally shot him with a rifle in the kitchen. It went off. He lost his finger and the bullet is still lodged in his back. So of course, there was a lot of screaming and chaos. He said several cops showed up. His niece and nephew slept through the whole thing. Thier parents are partiers and they are loud, hence why we don't hang out with them. So, these children had become accustomed to being able to sleep thought everything.

Believe me. There is no one beating themselves up more than that roomate right now.

My kids are home from college, they are very social (and all 5 kids get along great, and socialize with each other and friends outside of the home). I’ve woken up a few times at night to use the bathroom and found a little frat party going on (2 nights ago about 10 19 year olds sleeping over). Old house, plaster walls, solid chestnut doors, white noise machine, 1 neighbor can get cranky during summers, my 21 year old has given her phone number out to neighbors when having a fire.

if the accused is convicted and the jury imposes the death penalty it may be imposed sooner vs. later due to idaho's governor signing yesterday into law the state's ability to use a firing squad for executions. citing the lack of availability of the drugs necessary for lethal injections the last execution in the state was carried out in 2012 while one scheduled for december 15, 2022 was also unable to be carried out.

if the accused criminal justice student thought he would escape execution based on the state's inability to use its only form of execution he may be surprised by this development.

Small update: The house where the murders took place was torn down. Two of the families objected to it, thinking it was too soon to do it before the trial, in case they needed to go back in for some reason.

I think the issue was why not leave it standing until after the trial in case the Jury were to request an in person look at the crime scene.

The new info from the Dateline piece last night was incredible.

I think the most chilling was about the former housemate who was described as Maddie's best friend.

She was supposed to have visited that day for the football game but was asked at the last minute to stay home to watch the dogs because her Mother would be arriving back from some travels a day later than planned.

She would have undoubtedly been sleeping in the bedroom with Maddie and Kaylee.

So sad when her Mother said that she is "not the same".

After watching that show, the Defense better beg the Prosecution for a Life without Parole Plea Deal.

the forensic investigation into the electronics is fascinating to me. watching dateline detail It within this investigation reminded me of following the vallow/daybell trial and all the extensive investigation into these areas. it was interesting to see all that dateline revealed-we share the same local news station as Moscow Idaho so we've had extensive coverage from day 1 but there were/are very strict gag orders in place so very little of the investigation has been released.

it's also been reported that his sisters raised suspicions to the parents who dismissed it but some family members were suspicious enough to have done a search of the car (he had already cleaned it out top to bottom/inside and out). that could be an avenue for questioning of family members.

the killings were getting so much national coverage at the time I can't imagine it not being a topic of conversation when family gets together with a family member who lives in such close proximity to the events. add in your family member drives a car similar to what is being sought, is obsessively wearing double sets of latex gloves AND putting your household garbage into the NEIGHBORS cans (all observed by surveillance in the days before arrest)-i can't imagine that at minimum the sister who worked in mental health counseling was not wondering.

I think the best theory I have seen is that Maddie waited on him one day at her server job and for whatever reason the interaction upset him and he then targeted her.

The Dateline piece did indicate that it is thought that Maddie was indeed most likely the target.
