I have to agree, but at this point, it's been long and drawn out with no end date in site other than the end of August, and that just tires ME out.... We're leaving like June 13th, and won't be back until the end of August, I have to say I'm REALLY glad! Oh, and other than maybe KO once in a while, there'll be no cable news, actually I don't remember if we get KO anymore there... first we did, then we didn't, now I'm not sure but I think we might!

Our vacation is coming up on June 29th and I am praying that this will be settled by then...maybe I am nuts, but I am optimistic about June 3rd...maybe we really will have a candidate then. What a nightmare if we had to go to the convention...which of course is later than usual thanks to the Olympics. By late August, I will really have campaign fatigue if this hasn't been settled yet!!!

Great article, wvrevy. Nice touch on the elitist part on Hillary's 20 years in the governor's mansion and WH.

Fan-freaking-tastic article from Politico!!!!!!!!!!!

I know this topic has been tossed around quite a bit, but why on earth are you a loser if you are smart??????? I know that Americans hate intellectuals...that much is clear, witness the re-election of GWB!!! But why is it a crime to be smart? For example, I never understood the logic of "I will vote for who I would want to have a beer with." Why don't we want a President embodies the qualities of a great leader...and not like the majority of us in America...don't people want a president who exemplifies the best people can be??? I wonder if someone like Winston Churchill, who was an incredible orator, strong leader and extremely intelligent would be looked at as elitist and be labeled a loser in our society today?? I want a leader people would look up to, not mock and laugh at like the leader we have today...so much for voting for the guy you'd like to pound a brewski with.

Beats me. I wish I was smarter! But I want the person in charge to definitely be smarter. No more peter principle for the White House.

Actually, I'd love to have a beer with Barack. :teeth: The man's brilliant, and I imagine I would thoroughly enjoy that conversation.

But yeah, I know what you mean. Most Americans seem to want a president they can "identify" with...and they ain't used to them big ol' wurds, don't'cha know. ;) If they wanted someone to make 'em think, they'd turn on that Jeopardy fella...Alex Treebeck.

wvrevy...I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't like to have a beer with Barack as well!!! :goodvibes I LOVE intellectuals!!!

'Course, I've had plenty of beers with Dubya's type as well. Fortunately, though, I outgrew my kegstand days. :lmao:

No beer for me but a glass of champagne or pinot grigio and now we're talking. I know, I know--how out of touch and elitist. ;)

Sorry to verge off topic for a moment but this post reminds of a drinking game with friends from my college days in which we'd discuss if we could have drinks and meal with a famous person (living or dead--if dead, obviously they'd need to be brought back to life ;) ): my picks--John Steinbeck, William Shakespeare, Elizabeth 1. I'd include Obama in that august group.

Wilderness Bride-come back to the safe zone. I'm worried about your trip to the bad part of town.

Seriously, you made some great points. :thumbsup2

Lets make something VERY clear. I do not care for Obama - and wont be very happy if he wins.

HOWEVER - I came across something I think you guys will like. Even gave me a giggle. If I was an Obama supporter, Id want one. :)

It's always been this way and it's a learned behavior.... if you're too smart in school kids notice, some kids will even tell you if you keep acting smart they won't be your friend.... it all starts there, and somehow, that's okay in our culture, I don't get it, I don't get it at all. I'm sorry, but when I have to go to the doctor, I want the brightest doctor out there! Someone who is superior to me, who is more brilliant than his peers, that's who I want. Likewise, in the Presidency slot, I want someone who is so brilliant that he can actually restore what we have lost, both our moral and economic compasses. I want someone who see's the problem and doesn't ignore them, or worse yet, tell me they aren't problems in the first place......

But getting back to the question? For a great many American's, what they've always had is what they feel comfortable with, if that means someone like GWB a straight C- student with a tutor gets into office gets in, that's okay with them.... it's a sad commentary on what once was the Greatest Nation in the world. We've lost our moral compass and we owe more than any country in the world, our dollar is worth squat, and our jobs are being outsourced or eliminated. That doesn't scream greatest country in the world anymore..... And it's a terrible tragedy IMHO....

My prediction is that it does go to the Convention regardless of what the Supers do or don't do between now and then.... I'm glad I'll be gone the entire time. What date is the Convention? I might be back by then...

WVREVY, that's a great article....

Pheww!! Glad you were able to avoid the snipers. If you'll just keep walking to the end of the tarmac, I have a poem and a hug I want to give you.
