I watched the speech and thought :scared: why does this man just not go away. Why did he have to say Obama's name 3 times making sure that everyone heard his middle name and he had racial undertones to his speech. He needs to go away till all this is over and if Obama gets the nomination than he for sure has to go away till the POTUS is chosen.....

Stupid man ugggg....he was very self serving last night.

Sorry to here about Tim and Chobie....the whole thing is very sad. We have lost many fun posters. Sometimes we all don't agree but cant say anyone that I new on the list were bad enough to be banned :confused3

Hope DIS straightens it out soon and lets them come back. Not to many happy with the way the DIS handled it all.:sad2:

Okay I am leaving...:flower3:
Why should he go away? He has just as much right to speak as you and I. Stupid he is not, but the ignorant and closed minded that he spoke of will only hear what their ignorant ears allows them to hear. They will only see what their ignorant eyes allows them to see. Not that I'm calling you ignorant, but there are a lot of people who --DON'T GET IT AND WILL NEVER GET IT---

That said, I agree with everything he said especially when he said WHATEVER GOD HAS FOR YOU NOONE CAN STOP IT-BLOCK IT- OR STAND IN YOUR WAY. Might not be word for word but it's close and I believe it because I can testify to it.

From Today:

http://rasmussenreports.com/public_...ial_election/daily_presidential_tracking_poll

In the race for the Democratic Presidential Nomination, it’s Obama 49%, Clinton 41% (see recent Democratic Nomination results). These numbers are identical to the results from just before Clinton’s victory in the Pennsylvania Primary. In fact, there has been essentially no change for the past seven days-- Obama’s support has stayed between 47% and 49% each day while Clinton’s support has ranged from 41% to 43%. Both candidates continue to enjoy strong support from their core constituencies and the race remains unchanged. As has been noted before, Clinton’s only path to the nomination is to stay close and hope that Obama makes a mistake. Rasmussen Markets data gives Obama an 79.1% chance of winning the Democratic nomination.

Interesting contrast to the CNN poll posted above, is it not? The ongoing changes with the polls are a bit dizzying.

In the full report, Rasmussen notes that Clinton's unfavorable ranking has increased slightly. So, if, per this poll, Obama has a 79% chance of winning the Democratic nomination, then HRC's chances are 21%. And the race goes on.....

Um sure sounds like you called me ignorant and more than once. In BOLD letters at that :confused3 and you are right he is not stupid and did not mean stupid as not intellegant. And yes he has all the right in the world to talk when ever he wants to and thatt also was not my point. He could have waited.

And someone like him sorry I have no need TO GET! and yes I do wish he would go away because as much as you like listening to him and feel he is right on and all that....he could and will hurt Obama. And I don't need Hillary or McCain or any media to tell me how he is or what he has to say I can here it for myself.

I listened to his whole speech last night and he had many racial undertones. He does not like white people and that is his right. But he needs to keep that to himself at this time. Sorry you don't agree with that part.

:thumbsup2 His words may be shocking to hear, but when I think about them, I can't disagree with what he says.

Yikes. Debate thread, now?? Sheesh. I figure Hill has Bill with all his tasteless behavior/statements/opinions. Obama is dealing with Wright. I call it even.

Rev. Wright, and only Rev. Wright, is accountable for his words. His anger about institutionalized racism is not disturbing or upsetting to me nor do I think Wright is racist. However, I do get how others would think differently. What I don't get is an automatic leap to 'if Wright thinks these things about white people, then Obama must as well." That line of thinking makes as much sense to me as 'Hillary Clinton must think repeated adultery is an acceptable adult behavior since her husband committed adultery several times.' I do not think Obama is a racist nor do I think Hillary Clinton looks favorably on adultery. And that latter comment must be understatement of year!

I think the context of the full text of Rev. Wright's sermons are critical to understanding (understanding mind you--not liking, agreeing with or accepting) his point of view. I had not heard of the term, black liberation theology, until I read this article in today's Washington Post. But I thought this article provided a perspective that I was unaware of.

Can't help the fact that you think I called you ignorant when I clearly stated I wasn't.

That said, how do you know he doesn't like white people? Do you know this for a fact? When did he say he didn't like white people? I looked at both speeches and didn't see or hear any type of whitefolk hating at all. All I heard was the truth. Might not be the truth some people like to hear, but it's the truth.

Another thing, I don't know what your faith/religious beliefs are, but I do stand strong in my beliefs that whatever GOD has for someone NOONE can stop it. IF it's GOD'S will for OBama to be potus he will. If people are too stoopid to separate Obama from Wright and are too stoopid to realize that each person is there own individual and one does not speak for the other....well stoopid is as stoopid does.

eta:NO I'm not calling you stoopid

I don't understand that line of thinking either.

I think most of us here know where Obama stands and where Rev. Wright stands.

I think that Rev. Wright's continued dialogue on it, in the press and such, keeps him in the spotlight, thereby revisiting the same negative soundbites in the media that we've already seen. And that does nothing to help Obama.

I thought that article was very good in helping to understand where Rev. Wright comes from...I have always felt that if people could perhaps realize that the Civil Rights Movement was not so long ago and wounds like that are hard to heal, that perhaps people could be a little more understanding...and I too say understanding, not accepting.

I just completed my senior paper in history on a figure in the Civil Rights Movement, Bayard Rustin. While I was doing research, I discovered how critical the church was in civil rights protests. The church was often the center of such protests...like in the Montgomery Bus boycott, so being political in church is nothing new or evil, it was necessary during the CRM. I also feel after reading and thinking a lot about the CRM, that people sometimes forget how recent these events were...I mean it was only in 1964 with the Voting Rights Act that blacks were assured the right to vote and public places were desegregated. Can't anyone see that perhaps there are some lingering doubts about government when it took the gov't so long in acting on part of American blacks??

I can understand how Wright thinks he has been demonized by those sound bites which only represent a small portion of his 20 plus years as a pastor. He certainly has a right to defend himself but I wish he would not drag Obama into it. Obama stood by him but maybe Wright thinks he needed to do more. There are to many people, like Elizabeth on The View, who will use this against Obama regardless of the truth and it really doesn't matter how many times you try to make them understand because they do not want to understand. If the media wasn't having so much fun repeating it over and over again it would go away. I wish I knew how to get the media to focus on the issues that are really important but hey, how many time have they flashed that picture of Miley Cyrus today?

I agree-I don't like what he says but who knows how I'd feel if I'd had to live his life?? I haven't seen what he's seen, or experienced what he has experienced. He's channelled a lot of his resentment into good works, although his angry words end up eclipsing them.

First off...glad you guys are still around! :grouphug: I've had enough YAGE's to fill up the next year or so, and don't particularly relish being the only one left to counter the conservatives on this board. ;)

As to the Wright thing...I actually heard Bill-O say today that he appreciated Wright's service to the country, but that didn't give him the right to go around saying whatever he wanted. :lmao: The complete lack of understanding was enough to literally make me lol. :teeth:

fine than. But to let you know that I am a christian and always have been. Was a Jesus freak in the 70's and went to Bible studies for 5 years. Have been to many many black revival churches(what they were called back than) because of the high energy and leaving with a feeling as if GOD just passed through me.

Went and stayed at a Christian retreat for 3 months to study more. I am 50 years old and have been through black repression. Have many black friends and my best friend who is black agrees with me about Rev Wright. and yes he is for Obama and wants him to go away also.

So as for experience about things...yes it is there. If I went into a church where there was someone talking about how bad it is instead of how good it could be. About how blacks are treated as if they were lower than low. I would leave. Just as if I were to go into a church that was ran by a white Rev I would turn and walk out. I have no time for that.

So please don't insinuate that all people that don't like him just don't understand him .I get that his life was not great as a black man and that there is still problems. But it is not just some white people that have issues with prejudice....there are plenty of Blacks that do also.

And I am sorry but you did call me those names because you know darn well that I don't agree with him. I guess I could say the same for those that do believe all his words. But I of course am also not doing that.

sorry to come here and say that I wish he would go away because of all the stuff that it could bring up, and myself would like to see it stop. But last night after the speech and they were getting terrible e-mails about it and they were pouring in.

Again sorry for my disruption. have a blessed day.

I know, that makes me so sad...I too am sick of his incessant mouth. It just gets me that right now on MSNBC they are saying now some believe Obama is too black because of his pastor. This is just pure crap to get away from real issues....anyone out there better off now than 8 years ago...or four years ago????? Come on lets get back to what matters.

First he wasn't black enough, now he's TOO black??? If this wasn't so important it'd be hysterical.
