not a fan of fast pass plus

So at first i was mad about the onsite perks til someone on this very thread mention a throw away room and then i thought hmmm okay then someone else mentioned campgrounds for 49 bucks and I did just that!! My magic bands are on their way and already made my fastpass + selections...genius!!

Can I ask how many days were on your tickets?

Oh, I should mention. There are many here on these boards that think this is a really bad thing to do and is cheating.

Thanks! I can't change it and are getting a 7 day pass. Im hopeful if I can do 2 headliners per day I'm doing ok! Thanks for the link!!!

Well if you do even 1 headliner you'll be doing better than what we're experiencing. Today was our first full day in the parks and because I just can not figure out how to link my husband to me in the app or figure out if there's some other way to GET a fastpass besides what I'm trying...hubby (the main rider) spent his hours in the parks meandering around while I only went into Epcot for 2 hours. The rest of the time I've been in the room fiddling with the app, going to concierge to see if they can help me. So far tonite? Nadda.
The fastpass system has always been efficient and fair and we used it heavily.

After today I'm seriously reconsidering our continued DVC membership if Disney continues with their newest system. I mean wow, it's shockingly bad.
The fastpass + is for the birds.

That is truly terrible, I hope it all get sorted out and that the crowds melt away so you can also get a few rides in via SB, since you will be pretty limited in your FP selections.

This business is actually one of the reasons we put off buying DVC, I was so gung ho about it after our trip last May, and then started reading about the upcoming testing over the summer and .... suddenly had all sorts of reservations, many of which seem to be coming true ...

Yes, you WILL have fun - no doubt about it. It's your attitude alone that will make the trip special for your kids, and you as well. Not only that, I have no doubt that there will be TONS of pixie dust spread all over you because you have the right attitude.
It's not Kool Aid, you're not a Disney Apologist nor are you a Fanboy. IMHO Enjoying your Disney (or other) vacation is 70% attitude, 10% aptitude, and 20% luck. The odds are overwhelmingly in your favor and you haven't even left home. ENJOY!

This is what I'm hoping!!!! I'm not going to Disney to be stressed out. I'm aware of the situation....which is good and bad. ..sometimes ignorance is bliss. :-) would love that pixie dust you mentioned lol

My DH is listed under me in MDE. i just had to link a ticket to him and we were good to go.

i've also been able to make FP+ reservations for my MIL and my sister. they both have their own MDE accounts, but we invited each other to link our accounts. the only person i haven't been able to get FP+ for is my FIL because he is listed under my MIL. so, you either need to put your DH under your account (probably easiest) or, if he has his own accounts, invite him to link with yours.

All three FP+ have to be in the same park. That said, you CAN still park hop. Many people are advising scheduling afternoon FP+ for the park you will hop to. One downside to this plan is that you have to take your chances that lines will not be long in the morning at your first park, because you will have no FPs there. If you are a RD family, chances are that you will be able to ride many things before the crowds really start to build.

We are going the first week of March and I have a few days with double FPs scheduled - three FPs for AK in the morning and three for EPCOT in the afternoon. Same situation for DHS and AK another day. I have six FPs total, per person, on already booked on MDE. Is that a fluke? If I use the three in the morning, will it cancel the afternoon three? Anybody know, or should I call tomorrow?

Everyone needs to call or email Disney of their concerns.

You can find any Disney execs email on line. Search the president of WDW email his name is George Kalogridis.

Show them all our dislike, maybe we should get an online petition going. I am sure we can get thousands of signatures

That is strange.

Are they real, or are they ghost FP aren't actually there? When you try to modify your FP+ for those days, only the ones that show up to be changed are real.

You know, I can go places that require 70% of the fun I have to be all in my attitude for a heck of a lot less money. If I'm paying that much I don't want to have to work that hard. ;)

'cuz you're not paying your "fair share" :hippie:

Some of us think it's a bad idea only because it takes away from someone who might have actually wanted it to use to stay in. It's not like they're unlimited. I would feel sorry for the family who couldn't book because someone used what they needed as a throw away.

Through unnecessarily expanding the number of available Fastpass+ eligible attractions, Disney is artificially manipulating the system and intentionally deceiving guests. While each guest may have the same initial access to three or four Fastpass+ reservations per day, many uninformed guests will be sold on this perk without realizing that Fastpass it not needed for several of these attractions under the current system. The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror and The American Idol Experience are treated equally under the new Fastpass+ system. This deception is the equivalent of saying that dinner at Le Cellier is the same as dinner at Nine Dragons.

The problem I foresee with Fastpass+ is booking reservations days, weeks, or months in advance. This would place the Fastpass+ system in a similar model as the Disney Dining Plan. Guests are often persuaded into purchasing a dining plan, despite not knowing that they need to make reservations 180 days in advance at higher demand restaurants. The Disney Dining Plan has made casual reservations less available and arguably resulted in a decline in food quality as well. I foresee a similar fate for attraction availability with the change to Fastpass+ reservations. This could materialize through a decline in show quality as well as less “day of” Fastpass+ availability at higher demand attractions.

Many guests have feared that Fastpass+ will end any level of spontaneity associated with a day at Disney World. Defenders of Disney will argue that very little about a Disney vacation is truly spontaneous, but guests are forced to adapt their schedule multiple times per day for a variety of reasons. How often do guests book a dining reservation 180 days in advance, show up 20 minutes early, and still have to wait 30 minutes after the reservation time before they’re seated? This is often chalked up to “unforeseen circumstances”, i.e. other people not operating on the schedule Disney planned to turn over that table. With that in mind, a child’s bladder cannot be scheduled days in advance, nor can the rumbling of a stomach, or any other potential hindrances to a schedule. People have “unforeseen circumstances” at a much greater rate than Disney, yet we as guests are held to a higher standard than Disney is holding themselves. What happens when my dining reservation is delayed by 30 minutes and I miss my Fastpass+ reservation?

That's like saying someone shouldn't buy a game system when they're first released and limited if they're only intending to use it for movies because then a family who really wanted it for games and movies couldn't buy it.

First come first serve, if someone is legally obtaining something before you do the only person to blame is yourself.

All guests are created equal under the current Fastpass system, but that is not the case with all attractions. Currently, all guests have equal access to the Fastpass system but the current system restricts Fastpass availability on an individual attraction basis contingent on demand for that attraction.

This has been reversed under the new Fastpass+ system. Fastpass+ divides a park’s offerings into one of two groups and limits the number of these selections to a total amount per day. More importantly, Fastpass+ will prioritize guests that opt to use the MagicBand and are willing and able to make Fastpass+ reservations prior to their arrival. These guests will have greater access to the higher demand attractions at the cost of other guests.

The highest demand attractions are typically family friendly attractions that have lower capacities like Peter Pan’s Flight, Soarin’ and Toy Story Midway Mania. These three attractions effectively use the current Fastpass system on a daily basis. Conversely, attractions like Pirates of the Caribbean, The Haunted Mansion and Spaceship Earth have been added to the new lineup of Fastpass+ attractions. While all three have a high demand, they all have high capacity and would rarely require Fastpass usage.

By distributing three or four Fastpass+ reservations to guests on a daily basis, the higher demand attractions will be the first to run out of Fastpass+ availability. This will limit same day Fastpass+ availability for those attractions even further. By adding more attraction and entertainment options to Fastpass+, false demand is created for attractions that did not previously need it. Prior attempts to spread crowds using “Surprise Fastpasses” achieved only minimal success, and this new approach of adding Fastpass+ to more attractions is likely to suffer the same fate.

Yes, you can...but PP wanted to go to WDW.

Hey Morality is just another form of opinion and you know what folks say about those. I was just saying that concern that you're somehow mystically cheating Disney wasn't the only reason to think that it's not such a nice idea.

Although if you can wait until midnight on a 9-10 crowd day you can have a park that looks like this

2013-01-01_23-36-51_885.jpg

Everyone who fought with the crowds all day has gone home and you can practically walk onto Peter Pan, Little Mermaid, Enchanted Tales with Belle etc.

And that is exactly what happened on Saturday night-got to MK right as the fireworks were ending, watched the 11:00 MSEP, then went and walked onto every ride-you could even see Ariel in her grotto with no wait! (So we found this out by accidentally walking into the grotto entrance instead of the ride entrance and thankfully they let us just walk out! It was 12:30 am, cold, and we were a little brain dead. . .) I realize that not everyone can stay that late, but if you can, it is great!

Hmmm.. as a PP said, this is very strange.

Haven't heard of anyone being able to do this in the past several months. How long ago did you make your FP+ reservations?

But with things in such a state of flux right now, I don't think I would call tomorrow. I'd wait a few more days and check for reports here on the DIS.

With Hollywood Studios going paperless tomorrow, and Epcot on Thursday, it's just possible that they may be tinkering with allowing FP+s in more than one park per day.

Will be interesting to see if anyone else reports being able to do this in the next week or so.

I had NO luck using the App in the parks in December, even through the in park WiFi. We tried multiple times to change FPs from our phones, and it never worked for us. The only place the MDE App worked was in the hotel room via the Pop Century WiFi. Granted, we only tried to use the app in the Magic Kingdom and Epcot - no luck in either park.

My experience Nov 12 -19 was the same as yours. I had an android tablet and kept blaming that (although it was new). The wi-fi signal was good, but could not connect to their network. Stood in line for help many times and finally gave up. CM's really were struggling to pretend to know what they were doing.
I WAS ON A SOLO TRIP. This makes a world of difference, because I didn't have any disappointed little ones with me - it would have been a nightmare. I could single rider. There were so many issues that I don't want to bore you, but I ended up pretty much not using any of my FP+. Had several CM's try to help and they couldn't. I even had a FP+ for fireworks in "Germany" - THAT DID NOT EXIST! I was told I was not the first one. I did have a CM call me after I got home. I wonder if they could tell I used few passes? I think it was because when they emailed the survey - I WAS NOT ABLE TO COMPLETE that either due to technical difficulties on their end. Anyway...... the CM that called me told me this is here to stay. :crazy2:
