I didn't take the poll because I do like the Dream...but would much rather have had Fantasia or at least Wish for the other ship.

what are they? where's the announcement??

yes I do and like Disney Dreams the best...cant wait to be on them....we are planning first voyage on both. :thumbsup2 or at least withing the first month or 2...may wait for a few kinks to get out first. But the first voyage should be great because they will be sire to do something special.

Here is the body of the email ... you can also go to the disney cruise website to view the steel cutting ceremony!

As part of the Disney Cruise Line® family, we want you to be among the first to know that our two new ships now have names—Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy. Bob Iger, Walt Disney Company President and CEO, announced the official names today at the Disney shareholder meeting in Oakland, California.

Like Disney Magic® and Disney Wonder® before them, the names of the two newest ships in our fleet were chosen with care to celebrate Disney's unique heritage-creating incredible worlds of fantasy where dreams really do come true. Disney Dream is scheduled to launch in 2011, with Disney Fantasy following soon after in 2012.

SEE THE CUTTING EDGE.
Disney Imagineers and ship builders have been working full-steam ahead since we first announced our two new vessels in 2007. On March 2, 2009, construction on both began at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany with a special steel cutting ceremony. The very first cuts created Disney's signature, art deco-inspired scrollwork that will grace the bows of both new ships.

I got the email so I thought I would pop over here to see how many posts about it there already were....:rotfl:

We are sooooo ahead of the game! ;) I would have liked "Wishes" too but I am just happy there will be more ships (count me in for an inaugural sailing on either ship):thumbsup2

I like Dream, but also would have preferred Wishes to Fantasy. We can't wait to be on them, regardless of the names.

I just read on all ears.net that they released the names of the 2 new ships...Dream and Fantasy. :thumbsup2

Disney President and CEO Bob Iger announced the names of the two new Disney cruise line ships (currently being built in Germany) at the company's annual shareholder's meeting earlier today: the Disney "Dream," which will begin sailing in 2011, and the Disney "Fantasy," which will sail in 2012. Both new ships will sail out of Port Canaveral at least through the year 2014

When I called DCL to prebook a suite on the cruise in 2011 I was told I could not yet but had to wait until they announced the itineraries in November. Guess we have quite a wait to know where we will be vacationing in 2011.

Just our two cents, but Disney Dream has been a front runner all along as far as name choices. I don't think it's a question of lack of originality, but more the things associated with Disney. Disney Dreams is the signature show for the line and after all Disney is the place where dreams do come true. Fantasy was a strong one possibility in my mind and while Fantasia might sound classier, it doesn't ivoke an experience or feeling, like the words, magic, wonder, dream and fantasy. You don't have Fantasia land in the parks, but Fantasy land. This will be Fantasy sea!

I also never thought Disney Wishes stood a chance. To easily mocked, like "Disney Wishes... they could do thus and such." Just a thought.

Fact is whether we like the names or not, a lot of time, thought, effort, money and I'm sure a lot of over paid marketing types went into this pivitol decision.

I can't wait for some of the design features to be announced. And I'm sure there will be much debate over those as well. I wonder if any other cruise line has a following that feels near ownership of the line. We as a community certainly do put a lot of thought and devotion into our obession.

Well shoot- NOW I know what I'm missing out on by not having my CC numbers. LOL

Oh about the names...
I don't know why some wouldn't like Dreams rather than Dream. I have disney dreams- plural. :lmao:
I think Fantasia would have been different/unique.. and Wishes too.

HOWEVER, in thinking about it more- the names do match better when you think of them all together: Wonder, Magic, Dream, Fantasy. (wonder, magic, dreams, wishes or fantasia doesn't match quite the same).

OMG I just realized- before you knew what ship it was by how long the cruise was... now we'll have to always be differentiating which of 4 ships we're cruising on or asking what ship others are cruising on!! :rotfl:

I was thinking Disney Dream for one of them since the beginning!

hooray!! Dream & Fantasy! (Also the names of Carnival ships...)

Yeah but Carnival's ships don't even compare to Disney! LOL YAY DREAM & FANTASY!!!!

I think everyone pretty much knew one of the ships would be Dream though lol
