PIXIE DUST TO ALL OUR FRIENDS ON THE DIS WHO ARE GOING THROUGH ANY TYPE OF CANCER TREATMENTS. Wow, what a small world. Hope all goes well for you.

Thanks for all the support.

kmr--sounds like we may have been on about the same schedule!

I view the cancer as a positive thing--I would never have had the courage to plan a solo trip before--but having had the experience, I know I can do anything I put my mind to! I am a shy person, but that doesn't mean that I am not a strong one!! I have decided that I will not let being alone stop me from doing things I want to do--a little selfish, I know, but if I don't take care of me==who will!!!

TurnDown Service...

I am confused, do you have to pay for turndown at the Swan? We just have a regular room (government rate) but I do have a SPG card, no points though...

We leave in 17 days...YIPPEE!!

Blessings,
Emmy

We have gotten turndown service with paying. I believe its part of spg membership. I will admit we never got chocolates with this service, next trip I will ask!!!

On a somber note, my dear brother-in-law lost his battle with colon cancer over the weekend. He was only 36 and was diagnosed with advanced stages 6 years ago. Despite all the advances the american cancer society has made colon cancer is still the #1 cancerthat males die from. It is a horrific disease and thanks to all who purchased daffodils this week!!!

disnurse

My thoughts are with you & your family. 36 is such a young age. I am truly sorry for your loss.

Hiya!

I just booked my very first stay at the Swan for Sept with Dreams Unlimited. They had what seems to me to be an awesome price for a Club Level room (179.00 a night)

But I have a question... Does the Swan hold your bags at check in like the Disney Resorts do? Even if your room is not ready?

Also I read about the lounge and food on the Club Level, but I couldn't find anything that explained if there was a difference in rooms between a Club level room and a regular room other than the food ;).

Thanks!!!

Cindy in NY

Disnurse,
I join the others to express condolences for your family.

Before I quit working to stay home, I was doing Cancer research. In fact, Piper I worked at MD Anderson for many years early in my career. If it's any consolation, scientists ARE making progress with many forms of this disease.

Disnurse-
My sincerest condolences to you and your family.

Sending heartfelt thoughts and prayers to you and your family now.....

So, all you women out there putting off your mammogram - GO!
Whew...checked my calendar...and I must confess it's been three years (this spring) since my last mammo! I have been putting it off, and just realized for HOW long. Time passes so quickly, and I thought I only missed ONE test. I get a FREE mammo through insurance (annually) too, so $$$'s no excuse. I'll call today and set an appt. for one asap. Thanks for all of your wonderful posts, and courageous stories. A battle is a battle, no matter WHERE it takes place. You are all amazing women, warriers and survivors. Peace, Love and Blessings to you and your loved ones. ;)

Gilligan...CONGRATS on your TAG!!:)

Mitla96...Love the little "GO SPARTANS" post! Get it out there!!;)

Disnurse....So sorry for your loss (DBIL). 36 is TOO YOUNG to pass, and this disease still takes a lot of men in their prime. I'll say a Prayer for you and your family. In fact, I'll say a prayer for all the cancer survivors and casualties each time I touch, smell (and yes...I Smell ALL flowers!), and see/enjoy the daffodils we purchased. ;) *Make sure to ask for the delicious chocs on your next visit.

cindy_k....Hello! Great price for a GREAT level of service. CL is wonderful, and your room will be reserved on the CLUB LEVEL. The rooms are renovated with the Heavenly Beds, and offer very nice views. The food (& MAMA T) are FABULOUS! You should be very pleased with yourself (for booking this Resort). Yes, the Swan will "hold" your bags until your room is ready, just like a Disney-owned resort. Enjoy! ;)

RobMax...Yes, politically correct. INDIANS! (No, not INJUNS). The woman in the picture, which is correctly Identified (by JOC) as the "Woman Spirit" in the original painting is SACAGAWEA. She ROCKED, and the expedition could have NEVER been successful without her contribution. As for the animals "tasting like chicken"...how MANY species have you tasted? (LOL). :p

Mouseteacher...Me too...Me too. I get "happy" just looking at the pictures and DREAMING of my experiences! Also....Who is the TF? (I want to know!). :)

Unfortunately, cancer does not leave many of us unscathed. I'm sure many of us have had a loved one battle and/or die from it.

So... DF, YES - go for that mammogram asap! For you and for your beautiful family.

cindy_k ~ we had a standard room on the 12th floor which is Club Level. The CL is a wonderful amenity to have. Breakfast time was the best. It was relaxing time before a fun-filled day in the parks. It is, also, so convenient to be on the same floor as the Club Room. You will enjoy it!

Let's just say I was born and raised in Cajun country and leave it at that!

Disnurse, I am so sorry for your loss--your family will be included in my prayers.

Debbie MD Anderson is great! They do everything they can to give you support and make the experience as pleasant as possible. I appreciate all you did to help eliminate cancer!

Has anyone stayed in the "handicap" rooms at the Dolphin--I don't know if any of them have a "good view" or balcony . If you have stayed in one that was great--please let me know the number. Thanks!

BTW---I don't have to have a roll in shower--just need the grab bars, a shower stool, and room to park the ecv!

Yes...I certainly AM! Thanks for the note of support. We ALL need to check these things, so we can insure many, many more "tomorrows" with our family & friends. ;) BTW..The Daffodils we received today are GORGEOUS! They SMELL terriffic, and have a lovely bloom. I so LOVE flowers. :)

No....That's WAY TOO EASY! So many pictures RACE through my head...(conjuring-up ROADKILL images...UGH), you MUST be more specific. I've tried GATOR, and KANGAROO (Both at the beautiful OUTBACK RESTAURANT in Disney's Wyndham Palace Hotel by the Market place). What an amazing place, with great ambience and food. The GATOR tasted like "Chicken", the Kangaroo...well, ummmm...like....Kangaroo! There are some things I can do without. Not crazy about "Snails" (as they are all over the yard out here), or Calamari. I'll take the REAL THING (Chicken) ANYTIME! LOL. ;)

Piper...I have never stayed in one, but do recall of a poster saying they did...and enjoyed it immensely. Call the resort directly to arrange this, and ask for the type of upgrades you wish for. :) Please be sure to post your findings here...as this info helps everyone. Thanks. ;)

Zurgswife...Soaps are all packed and ready to go! I'm mailing tomorrow am...so they should be there promptly. Tell DH to "Hang-on"! LOL....;)
