Renewing annual pass

My annual pass expires next month. I know when you first get it, it isn’t activated until you scan into a park. If I renew when it expires, will the time start immediately or will it only start when I first use it? Thanks

Renewals begin immediately.

Ok thank you. I saw that I would save 20% if I renew it within 30 days, but I would most likely be going in August.
