RobMax,
Are you the tag fairy!? If so, thanks for the tag! I thought it was Joc, but that was a guess.

kimmar ~ I say Duke and DS say Kentucky. We are having fun digging each other as to who will take it all.

DF ~ I agree their are so many montage moments for me that I couldn't list them all. However, the R and C one was extra special because we had no intention of making a trip last summer. Then, along with DBro and his family, we made a spur of the moment decision to do it (it was the 4th of July). I had heard of S/D teacher rate which prompted the ability to make the trip since we really save to stay at a Deluxe. We were unsure that we could even get the rate at such a late time - but we did - for late August and off we went!!! It was even more special for my family to share a trip with my DB and his family - who are equally as addicted as me. I brainwas... er... educated them many years ago on the wonders of the World. They have been hooked ever since and have made numerous trips themselves.

On a somber note, I am enjoying my time on this Board lately. It is certainly a wonderful escape for a while from the TV reports. I continue to pray for troops and for our country.

Hi,
We are staying at the Swan this spring. This will be our first time at the resort.
Have any of you had the turn down service? We have that as part of our reservation. What can we expect with this service?
Thanks so much!
Sandy

Sandy - give us some insight on what you know.

First - You need to visit www.SPG.com and sign up so you can earn points.

Second - You may (might) also be upgraded to gold level and offered a room upgrade when you arrive if you sign up and use the SPG credit card.

Third - A club level upgrade will give you free turndown (NEEDED especially if you mess the room up at nap time :) ) and darn near a complete lunch and dinner.

Fourth - if you are teacher, nurse, or gov employee you can get $129 a night rate.

Really the best deal in the park - but keep it a secret. (The service stinks just like the unoffical guide says!!! - he said sarcastically) :earseek: :earseek:

Your room will be 'tidied up' and the beds turned down, with a chocolate on your pillow.

Zurgswife...I PM'd you! Nothing comes close to the Oatmeal soap. ;)

RobMax...LOL, someone is actually SELLING these? Just goes to prove the commercial is absolutely correct. You can find ANYTHING & EVERYTHING on EBAY! Geesh.
BTW.... Please TAG me (Tag Fairy) with this woman's quote . Anyone know who this is?

Mouseteacher...I understand the "burden" we Disney-Lovers bear of attempting to "educate" (LOL) the masses! Our neighbor's spent their honeymoon (I just misspelled this "Hineymoon" before correcting...LOL) in the MAGIC four years ago. They know we visit each summer, as we would talk with them (endlessly...as someone whom enjoys your obsession, truly "gets it", are special folks indeed). Their first return was LAST summer...2 weeks at the DOLPHIN! They bought Premium Annual Passports...and are returning to the DOLPHIN this SUMMER! We will spend some time together, playing and frolicking in the WORLD! They live two doors away, in our cul-de-sac. We share a special bond. ;) (*I agree w/you about these boards. They are as HAPPY as we can get w/o being IN Disney World. The news reports are difficult to take "all-day, every-day". Thank goodness for this site...and each other).

Oh...the CHOCOLATES! Wrapped in GOLD, embossed w/a pineapple (hospitality symbol). Creamy and smooth...with just a "hint" of mint. Truly, one of these...a sip of warm milk...the Spaceship earth visible through the window~and I'm OUT in a minute! :p

Yesterday DD volunteered at the local Cancer society for the preparation of the "Daffodils" sold at her school and numerous other locations. What a wonderful project. Hope some of you were able to purchase a couple of these flowers. I'm always so proud of her time and dedication to the greater cause, whichever facet she chooses to assist (on any given weekend). She also supported a group of thespians in a local theater house yesterday afternoon. After mid-terms last week, she needed the break (from academics). :)

Good for her! I was one of the lucky ones who found my breast cancer through a regular mamogram. I had a lumpectomy (I call it a chunkectomy..LOL..) and am doing fine a year and a half later....

This has been a trying week because a woman I worked with neglected having mamograms and even waited to see the doctor when she found a lump. She passed away on Sunday after a year of chemo and many struggles. I know I shouldn't, but I feel just a little guilty because I had a comparatively easy time. I can't urge you enough to be very regular with those mamograms!

It ain't me :)

Looks like the cherokee spirit of flight. Reminds me of my warehouse manager in oklahoma city - Chief Wandering Eye

Piper

I wish you continued good health. My SIL was diagnosed 2 years age, had a lumpectomy, & it then matastisized(sp?) in her brain. She was had the mass removed, numerous chemo & radiation treatments & the mass just keeps growing. I'm not sure what she has decided as her next plan of attack. The thing is, they caught the lump in her breast very, very early. We all just keep praying.

DF It is wonderful your DD volunteers & you should be very proud.:D

Interesting thing about Oklahoma.

My warehouse staff here was about 50% Indian (hardest working group as well). I say "Indian" because when I first addressed them as "Native Americans" some laughed while others let our long sighs and shook their heads. The liscence plates in OK say "Native America," but the "Native" americans prefer Indian. Oh do I love political correctness!

And DF - one of those links you posted with our gal lilly on it came from the PETA site.

Wow, did I ever tell you I love animals?

They taste like chicken :) :) :) :) :) :)

Diligence is so important in fighting that dreaded disease. My cousin has regular mammograms and regular check-ups. She was diagnosed with inflammatory breast disease last May. It is a form of breast cancer that cannot be detected via a mammogram b/c it is not in a tumor form. It shows up as a rash or bruise that won't go away. My cousin was told not to worry by every MD she saw. But, her intuition told her it was not right. Finally, upon seeing a dermatologist at MGH in Boston - he did a biopsy and discovered it in its early stages. She has undergone extensive chemo, mastectomy and another round of chemo and final radiation which she just finished.

DF ~ love the pictures of where your summer trip will be taking you. I certainly get a Disney fix just by looking at pictures and/or videos of our trips.

 I wonder who is the TF???? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Hi everyone,
Thanks for the replies.
We are signed up for the Starwood card.
My sister made the ressies. She works for the state and got the 129. rate., but she decided to upgrade to the level that has turndown service.
The Swan looks like a great place. I haven't heard anything negative about it.
I use alot of towels, so I guess the turndown service will be handy!

Well - since you paid for turndown and have an SPG card :) I would ask something else - like a balcony!!!

You are right--digilence is very important. I go to MD Anderson here isn Houston. They have impressed on me that breast cancer is never cured--just in remission--that it can pop up anywhere. I am very good about keeping all my appointments for blood work and scans, etc.

On a lighter note--my hair should be long enough by the time I get to WDW to go without a hat if I want to! ! ! It is about an inch and a half right now!

Piper ~ Dcousin's hair is somewhat back, too. About an inch and half, too. She always wore her hair short so she looks like her old self. She says the worst for her was wearing a wig. She weathered all her treatments pretty well. She is inspirational in her stamina and her outlook. It took a year to complete all the prescribed treatments.

I just got tagged - twice! - today. I can't believe how happy such a small thing has made me feel! (And TF, I am in no way implying you're a small thing!) Takes my mind off the slow progress of my assignment.

I was reading about the lime ribbons on another board. I think I'll definitely have to get one, and see if I can find any other DIS-ers at the Dolphin at Easter. (But will I have the courage to say 'Hi'?)
Ah well, back to the grindstone. :(
Jill

Piper -

I'm hoping the same thing. I just finished my chemo the end of January and my hair is just beginning to grow. It's very soft! I'm really sick of the bandanas and can't wait to be done with them. I had a mastectomy in Sept. and I'm doing fine. Just have one more operation for the reconstruction and I'm done.

Mine was also found during a routine mammogram. I didn't have a tumor, but had microcalcifications. My Dr. said it looked like someone took a handful of sand and threw it at me. So, I would have never have found it if not for the mammogram. She said the Dr. who read the films probably saved my life!

So, all you women out there putting off your mammogram - GO!
