Consumer's has not rated Walking shoes in over 2 years, their top rated models are all discontinued at this point...

So what are your top choices? What have you found comfortable after walking an average of 324.5 miles a day at WDW ?

I do like New Balance, (Sears usually has a sale mid summer) But I would like to know what real people here on the DIS like to wear...

...BTW, I would need them for myself and my DW and my 7yo DS.... The 2yo will get to be in a stroller...

I have not tried a lot of the fancy new-fangled shoes... But I can say that I have always liked my Nike AirWalks! :teeth:

And, I can be picky about how my shoes feel.

Remember, different shoes can work better for different people. You may want to take the time to go to a major store and try some different brands and styles.

Good Luck!

I have the most horrible problem with shoes, but I finally found New Balance and am so happy with them! Even with NB, though, you have to make sure you get the right style and what is called the LAST. The Last is the mold used to make the shoe and they come in different shapes. Some have a deeper toe box, some have a narrower heel, etc. Once you find the right one for you, you're set. I found a NB site that explains it all....NB last

I've been wearing New Balance for years, but recently bought some Asics Gel Kayano Walker 1 shoes. They were very expensive--around $90. To me, they are MUCH more comfortable and lightweight than any New Balance model I have tried. They are also less clunky looking.

I love Hush Puppies Upbeat walking shoes. I have worn them for quite a few years. I have some New Balance walkers, but don't like them as well. I also have some Rockport walkers. They are okay. :)

I brought my New balance tennies and my crocs to swap in and out of in case of hotspots.......my feet craved the crocs...even once I got a blister near the end of the trip...my feet had to have the crocs....

What are crops?

What model New Balance do you all have?

For the past several years, I have been wearing only New Balance 570-series (currently they are on the 573s). They are great walking shoes that require little or no break-in period, are comfy and well-padded, but not terribly well insulated which makes them cool in the Florida heat, and they are available both with regular laces and in a velcro strap version. Cost is about $60 but they are well worth every penny.

Hi Nick, I personally use Merrells but Ecco are also v.good and you can get these for all the family :flower:

I vote for Nike Pegasus.

My feet were killing me so I bought a pair a DTD in the Mickey Sports store (or whatever that store is) and they have been the most comfortable shoes that i ever wore.

Another vote for Crocs - have worn them for about a year in the hospital, and they are great.

Got them at the Sports Authority here. Go there and try them and all the other shoes everyone is mentioning, they have them all pretty much.
Crocs are goofy looking but so light and comfortable

I like Mephistos, everyone talks about these CROCS....I have them (bringing back thou) and cannot possibly conceive wearing these in Disney!
I never had sweaty feet till these! sorry...

Brooks running shoes. I also like Sauconys. I know I'm in the minority, but New Balance doesn't fit me right - and I've tried many different styles.

The Crocs look like the shoes we wore when I worked as a nurse. I can't imagine wearing them around WDW, but that's just me. ;)

This is excellent information - Thank you!!! This explains why both my mom and I have said we once had a pair of NB that we loved but they're not so great anymore, lol. We never knew they made these different styles.

The tough part will be to figure out what style of LAST we need. I wonder if you can tell by just trying them on in the store?

Thanks again,
Jackie :flower:

I second Brooks! I had a brief but painful episode of plantar fisciitis and I would wear my Brooks around the house to help the pain go away. I have run and walked in them and love them very much. I have never had a pair of Nike's that were as comfortable and NB did give as much support. Good luck!
