Many of us have to deal with elderly ailing parents. It's sad to hear when someone else is going thru this.

Remember to take care of youself. Can't make your mom comfortable and happy if you are unwell.

Kevin, I am so incredibly sorry. I don't really know what to say as I can't begin to imagine how you feel at this time. Just know that yourself, John, your family and of course your dear mother are in my thoughts. I met your mom a couple of times and I really loved her "spunky" attitude.

My brother and I spoke with the Hospice doctor this morning.

We have been told that my Mom's condition is so poor that we should stop her treatment and let her pass peacefully.

We have decided to follow his advice.

Nothing in my life has been this difficult.

Please keep my Mom in your prayers.

Oh, Kevin! I am so, so saddened that you and your brother had such a difficult choice to make. And I am so sorry that the situation has come to this. You and your brother and your Mom are all in my thoughts and prayers today.

I am so sorry Kevin.
I will keep you all in my thoughts.

I know its a very hard choice - My mom had to make that choice for my grandpa in Dec. 09, and she may have to make it for my grandma as well.
It was a huge comfort to both my grandparents, knowing that if they needed someone to make that decision for them, my mom would do that and follow their wishes on things, even if it was a hard choice. That is why she has their power of attorney in medical matters and not her brothers/sister (they wouldn't do as my grandparents wanted). I will have that choice if my mom ever needs it as well, as my brother wouldn't be able to make that decision and follow her wishes.
Your mom is very lucky to have sons who are able to make those hard choice when she isn't able.

I understand what a difficult decision you have been forced to make.

There is nothing in our lives that ever prepares us for something like this.

Hospice is a wonderful group of caring & compassionate people. I met several from the Orlando area when my Father was ill and then again when my Mother passed. They will make sure that your Mom is pain free and at peace.

If there is anything we can do for you or John, we are only as far away as a phone call.
