First Impressions of Disney Destiny, A Stunning Ship With One Big Question

I agree with you. Full disclosure, I have not been on the ship and I don't intend to sail on it. I much prefer the Treasure (haven't sailed that one yet either, but I do plan on it). I am not a Marvel fan but love Disney. I also think there were other options when doing a heroes vs villains theme, but I was not asked my opinion when designing the ship! Marvel could have been included, however, like you said, it's Disney Cruise Line, not Marvel. But, I guess that's why there are many ships to choose from!

I've never seen any of the Marvel movies, and the theme didn't bother me (including the Atrium)

I have seen most of the Marvel movies and I didn’t think the atrium was heavily themed at all. The things that are heavily themed is the adult comedy show With Great Power, and Worlds of Marvel which is on two other ships anyway.

What I didn’t like about the atrium is that the light effects in the evening make all your character photos oddly tinted and they all look weird, even with the ones taken by the photographers on the ship. And I think they need better ways to sign up for the villain encounters which don’t involve standing in line for huge amounts of time.

I can't get there with the emphasis on Marvel... To me, it doesn't feel as timeless as even say the Wish, to say nothing of the original 4 vessels...

I am booked on the Destiny in February 2027 and considering canceling it. So much of the cruise seems to rely on the Marvel and villains theme. There doesn't seem to be much focus even on the heros. The grand hall doesn't bother as much as so much of the entertainment has this focus.

I have the same feelings as you about the whole Marvel theme. We (multi-gen family of 9) will be sailing on the Destiny in June. I suggested a 7-night on the Treasure Eastern Caribbean, but was overruled by my nephew and his three kids for a 5-night Destiny. Like others, we have no connection to Marvel, watched Black Panther when it came out on one of the Disney classic ships, and know none of the songs or characters (didn't know there was a Hercules movie). We'll still have a good time on the ship with family and explore its layout, restaurants, entertainment, and bars.

Agreed! The lighting behind the characters was rough
