Most Overrated things people rave about at WDW

Dated Rides -- there are too many to name; Disney really needs to do a better job at refreshing the rides even if it's just mixing in some newer technology
Park Hopping -- does anyone really do this? Even if a park is a half-day scene I'd much rather go back and hang at the resort than move to another park
Food -- let's remember that these are amusement parks -- the food is basically at that level though I wish they had some good "carnival" pizza
Character Meals -- they would be fine if they charged less for kids.
Golf Courses -- bland, flat and lacking in any challenge yet priced like you're playing pebble beach
Downtown Disney -- was better back in the day when every night was New Year's Eve.

Peter Pan :confused3

Classic, I get it. But it seems SO short to me and looks a bit worn. 10-15 wait, sure. But not worth the long lines to me.

Restaurants in general at WDW are very overrated to me. Years ago, when they didn't cost a fortune and the quality was better I enjoyed dining at WDW more. Now, I just eat to stay alive between attractions.

I'm with you on this one.
Exactly how I feel.

3) Fantasmic. Soooo much better at Disneyland...
2) Space Mountain. Same as above.
1) Illuminations... I love Epcot, but I'm not a fan of this show... I guess I just don't 'get' it.
Fantasmic IS better at Disneyland, but I love Illuminations....it actually gets me all choked up...and I don't know why LOL! But then I cry at everything.

The monorails. Relics of 1960s Space Age thinking. They're just elevated trains with severe limitations.

The els in Chicago are much more exciting.

This is a fun thread about diversity, really. I love so many of the things people dislike, like dole whips, school breads, POR, almost every ride and attraction in the parks, even the most silly and dated ones, always makes me happy. That is why I keep coming back all the way from Rio.:sail: I agree that the prices are too high, you can imagine for me and my poor little brazilian money right now.o_O But I guess I also can provide a list of 5 things that I have considered overrated:

1) AKL: my only deluxe experience was the worst one at WDW resorts. My first stay long ago in one of the All Star resorts was way better.

2) Disney Buses: while I still appreciate the whole transportation system and love the boats and DME, the resort buses has let me down many times with wait issues and overcrowded buses.

3) Refurbishments, closings and construction work: too many at the same time is quite unpleasant. I obviously crave for new experiences, but I think they could do a better logistic work taking in consideration that guests are still there the whole time.

4) MK restaurants, QS and TS: it frustrates my that my fav park has the worst food options.

5) FP+: the tiering and the 3 ride limit is annoying. When I did some touring plans combined with the paper FPs I was able to achieve so much more...pixiedust:

(1) Dole Whips! I have tried to like them -- insisted we give them "one more try," but they just don't taste good to me...
(2) School bread -- I think I should stay away from the threads that hype up snacks so much because I have yet to find one I love!
(3) Tiers for FP's. Wow is this ever a downer. I understand the logic behind it, but for families that only want to go on the Tier 1 rides, it does create a stressful day.

As our trip was on going a few family members that had been to Disney many times would complain about many things like everything on this thread, which made my 2 daughters 9 and 7 at the time, talk about Disney like 2 80 year old women complaining at the hair salon

I love most of the things being described as overrated in this thread. Would never stop me from loving them. With that said, I do agree it can have a negative impact on children. Honestly, I think it was incredibly rude and insensitive for your family members to say negative things about WDW in front of your children, when they knew you were planning a trip.

I so wanted to love it! I am a beer junkie. I love grapefruit. It tasted like soap to me. I choked down the HUGE one I bought...took me quite a while. Won't spend my money on it anymore (more for you!!!) :)

Where is the stupid, horrible grapefruit beer. I now need to try it.

Bloody hell! I am amazed some of you go back. Remember the old days when we all went of a coach to Rhyl. What a bunch of moaners.

Very negative people. See me after school!

Thanks for saying; I thought it was just me. Then again, I suppose it is my fault that I read this thread in the first place!

1. SDMT.... just lame.
2. Dining Reservations ie.Not being able to walk into a restaurant of your choosing in Disney as people have hogged reservations 180 out.
3. Dole whips...vile concoctions.
4. Magicbands... pita ( kids have lost theirs on two occasions and trying to link stuff to those suckers and keep older tickets drives me nuts.)
5. Deluxe Resorts.. just not worth the insane cost in my opinion.
6. This one gets an honorable mention..if the kids are naughty I threaten to take them back and make then sit through this again...Hoop Dee Doo.
