Most Overrated things people rave about at WDW

5. Disney transportation--a lot of people seem to find it "convenient", but I much prefer bringing a car and driving wherever we need to go ourselves.

Works if you don't mind paying for parking at the parks and if you do not park hop. We rented once and found it a hassle when hopping.

I don't believe anything at Disney is over rated.

It's much more a matter of like and not like as much

AKK

I agree. For me, meeting characters is at the bottom of my list, right next to the thrill rides I don't enjoy. But to others, the characters and thrill rides are the whole reason they go to WDW. No right or wrong answer - just different.

I must admit I have not kept track of each item mentioned but after 25 pages we must of named most things at WDW!!! Is there anything that hasn't been mentioned?

...

OK, with Starbucks: They have pretty much invaded universal and I think will conquer the world with their overpriced coffee and scones. Disney was almost powerless to resist. But park coffee was pretty gross Nescafe, so it was OK to me when the 'buck's moved it. Remember too, that W Disney had companies sponsor resturants in the past. Carnation cafe? Stoffers offered to sponsor the Tiki room (when it was suppose to be a restaurant). Yak and Yeti is Rainforest. Stoffers also sponsored (still does?) Liberty Tree Tavern. So I have no issue with Bucks.
...

Yes! Thanks for reminding me - the food at WDW has definitely improved since my childhood (and even in the last 10 years) and I love that they have vegetarian options almost anywhere (some better than others, true) I remember going as a kid and it was all corporate sponsorships - it's nice to see thats trending away even though I do miss Body Wars and that whole Wonders of Life pavilion.

That said, I wish the food options on Main St. were in fact candy and pastries that were not mass produced and available anywhere else too.

Orange Magic Bands are over-rated. Never go orange.
No Poland in World Showcase is a travesty.
No liquor store at WDW

BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

The Lion King show at Animal Kingdom. The film is one of my favourites but just think the show is meh. Don't like the stage set up, don't like the whole show to be honest.

Blasphemy! This is one of our favorites!

I think the important thing to remember here is "different strokes for different folks"! Even though Epcot is my least favourite park, that won't stop me from going to it with the rest of my travelling party and making the most of it!

1. 7DMT - It was an OK ride, but I wouldn't wait more than 20 minutes for it.

2. TSMM - See ^^

3. Most of Epcot - it just doesn't excite me or feel very "Disney"!

3A. Test Track (the new version) - I just don't get how people think this is better than the old one. I miss the cold/hot area, and the test dummy section!

4. Exorbitant lines to meet characters. I don't mind waiting less than 10 minutes for a meet n greet, but I'm almost 26 and I just don't get the whole "autographs" and LONG waits (or using FP) for character meets.

We've only been twice plus we aren't Disney fans so our approach to going to WDW is very different from a lot of posters. As a result we don't bother with the meet and greets (unless they're Pixar, Winnie the Pooh or Star Wars related) or a lot of the "Disney magic" stuff. We are all about Christmas though so we've gone during the first week of Christmas to enjoy the decorations and the Epcot Storytellers. My dh and I love to travel to other countries but our sons aren't at the point yet where they'll appreciate the experience enough so World Showcase is a good compromise. My dh grew up in Nigeria and one of his fondest childhood memories was going on safari in Kenya with his family. Someday we hope to do the same with our sons but until then we'll enjoy the AK safari ride and our local safari park. We like that the animals have more space to roam then they'd have at a zoo.

Here's my over-rated list.

1. Osborne Lights. It's much shorter and more crowded than I'd like. We had to wait a long time to go in and then we were herded through it like cattle by the push of the crowd. We couldn't enjoy the lights as a result.

2. 50's Prime Time Diner. The insults were lame and we could have had better food for less at Cracker Barrel or even home.

3. Shopping. Almost all of the stuff you can buy (minus Epcot Country Pavilions) can be bought online or at a Disney Store. I like to buy unique souvenirs but the only stuff that we thought was worth it was the build your own droid or lightsaber. That's why we never go to Disney Springs. We can do plenty of shopping and go to plenty of fantastic restaurants at home.
