Don't know if this link will work or not, but here is the video of the tree that fell behind me. I was around that corner to the left.

I'll give this a try....http://blog.al.com/breaking/2009/05/video_madison_tornado_damage.html They are interviewing the girl who was behind me who works at my local Hallmark store.

There is a video from a surveillance camera of a daycare that captured the tornado as it came through. Although, I can't get that link to work. I've tried emailing it to my BIL, but it keeps bouncing back. I'll see what I can do, and maybe I can get it up later.

Peej - Thanks! I was scared, but I was praying that God would keep me safe, and he did! :thumbsup2 Oh, and I feel your pain on the "cryatadropofahat" children. We have some of those at our school too. :rolleyes1

Lynette - Thanks! I'm glad it is sunny down here for my trip into work tomorrow. ::yes::

Monica - Thanks for reading, but I hope I can have some boring stories in the future. ;) Good luck on your test tonight! Wow, to take a test the day after that adventure. I would be toast! :faint:

Wow Allie!!!

I wrote this yesterday too.... Those are big trees down.

Was out and about trying to find Hannah a birthday present. Her birthday is next Monday. She thinks she is special , she doesn't have to go to school that day because of the long weekend. She gave me a list , no phone for this child....

Speaking of long weekends anyone have plans for it? Is it your long weekend too?

When does Marita come back?

Blah for standardized testing. Boris is taking the math portions of the tests tomorrow and Thursday. He doesn't seem angst-y in the least, but his teacher has mentioned several times how test days are her least favorite days of the school year.

Peej to the rescue! Way to go on getting Miss Emotional to chillax. Poor thing. I wouldn't know what it's like to cry at the drop of a hat, but I bet it sure helps to have someone around who can calm you down with just a word or two. :rolleyes1
I'm sure he'll do just great. It seems that when you change one little thing in the schedule the kids are "off" all day. After they test all morning I don't even bother trying to plan anything for the afternoon. They're so completely shot. This afternoon we watched Magic School Bus and made paper plate flowers.

What could you possibly be talking about?

Maybe I'll make it extra long with more than required examples just for kicks?!
Somebody knows how to have fun!
Good luck on the test. Let us know how it goes.

Peej - Thanks! I was scared, but I was praying that God would keep me safe, and he did! :thumbsup2 Oh, and I feel your pain on the "cryatadropofahat" children. We have some of those at our school too. :rolleyes1
Now really where would we be without our "special" kids? Sane, I suppose!

Wow Allie!!!

What's it a long weekend for? We have Memorial Day on the 25th. I wonder if we still get that off or if it's yet another make up day. I should probably look into that. :scratchin

How was everyone's Tuesday?

P.J.--The day is called Victoria Day ( It is Queen Victoria's birthday). Everyone gets it off..:woohoo: It is usually called the 2 ,4 weekend.:lmao: Always the third Monday of May.

Hannah has testing the last week of May and Nicholas class has testing first week of June. Grade 3 and Grade 6 only have testing.

Where Sandy been? Biggest Loser Finale tonight.

Moo -- too of three of the people left are from Mi. One from Lansing and I can't remember the other one, maybe East something? Meant to ask how your friend is doing? Did she get her results back?

I'm back and I am beat! Up since 9:30am German time Monday morning and it;s now 3am Wednesday morning German time with a total of 2 1/2 hours of (interspersed) sleep. Too tired to report tonight. My feet are totally swollen, I discoverd escalator steps can be used to cut tonails, and other fun stuff ahead..

Allie, scary story, glad you are ok

Moo, congrats on 50 lbs. Awesome! :thumbsup2

Good evening!

Nabbie - I think I read that the father/son are from South Lyon. I didn't realize the woman was from the Lansing area! Guess I'll have to check it out. Good luck with Hannah's birthday shopping :)

The neurologist told my friend Debbie that he believes she's been having mini-strokes (TIAs) in addition to the migraines. That would explain a lot, but it was quite shocking to all of us. Some prayers would be greatly appreciated! They're going to be doing some further testing over the next couple weeks.

Allie - Wow, that was a huge tree  Here's hoping your next story is much more boring

Peej - I sure hope Memorial Day isn't a make-up day for you

I'm not doing anything special over the long weekend - just hoping for some nice weather.

Twink - Happy Birthing Day!!!

Mony - Goog luck on your exam! :flower3:

Lil G - Nice memories about your mother. I went with my hubby to the memorial service for his best friend's mother this morning. The service was a lovely tribute to her.

Welcome Home Marita!!!!

We missed you!!! I think I am scared to hear you toenail story. :scared:

Moo-- prayers and pixie dust for your friend.

yeah, moo! our memories of loved ones are precious , to our

..good living. :thumbsup2 [i know you have some recent health
scares...& i am glad...they're turning out good]

...allie! did you duck? ..one of the reason i like ohio, we seldom
have weather diasters.

the south..sure has had it share the last few years, i think it's

good for us all..to rally around, & that you're not alone. usa, means,
we all in it together~~:wizard:

our disney memories~~~ alot made possible by our lil' princess:.

...wow ,did she ever changed our livies....* and my primary preception
of the disney experience. & that lil'girl...with her mother....asking us,
can our daughter sit besides,.,,yours, "she thinks she is ariel."

...any hoo... where have the time went?, one of the things we
did @ crt....was to buy jordan those lil'princess: ball caps..& have
them signed.....now~~ they're too small for her noggin.

one thing..for sure, i'm sure feeling my age, everyday...., m,aking me
realize...life isn't forever, and ..i could do better, lving it. let's hope,
i 'll behave..this time...@ wdw. then again.....some like "action shots",

:rolleyes1.

i don't kno if iam lucky..or what....but i sure get alot of "details" in my
pictures taking. [ i like reading the the photo shop, and the pros,
......& they do alot of professional shots] . i guess, what i go after

..."feelings", & things..just seem to pop in them.

..it's good pumba back from her disney adventures?...are you going to
a trip report? [hint, hint].

& i tell who..i think..is a great lil'trip reporter, oh nabby?

cruise or wdw..to me, they are one & the same....in seeking out the
...your own individual feelings for the disney experience. i think, too
many make the mistake....trying for all the great headliners..& doing
everything, everbody else is doing....while the real magic, is
discovering the lil' surprises. anyways, that what i think..& feel.

today..reading all the bad news...it 's a relief, having family values....
under one "park". now if we could just get the groucy neighbors...out,

holy moley..backie..been " wdw~tripping", too, ..i'm the only
working? :scared1:

Allie - How scary to go through that. Next time you hear the sirens you should STAY HOME! ;)

Moo - Congrats on 50 pounds GONE! Woot!!

Welcome back, Marita! This place is dead when you're not here! :confused3

congrats, moo on the weight loss. I've got to call my bariatric doctor today - I haven't seen him in over a year!
I've got a new prescription I want to take to help curb the urge to drink, but the pharmacist doesn't want me to because of my surgery.
we'll see what the other doctor says.

I'm also starting birth control pills to hopefully help with the chin hairs.
I would apologize for talking about that, but wheatie pie appears to have left us and lil g is down with the female stuff. :rotfl:

I watched the biggest loser finale last night.
one of the guys I'm dating came over for dinner and wanted to watch it. It was interesting.
those people lost all that weight and don't have wings like me! :rotfl:
probably because they work out.

glad you're safe, Allie!

hi to everyone else.

Nab - Thanks! I think I am a tornado survivin' goose girl now. :rolleyes1

BBN - Thanks, me too!

Moo- Congrats on the 50 lbs.!! :thumbsup2 That is awesome!! Sorry about DH's uncle's funeral. How is hubby healing? It was scary, and hope I don't have to go through that ever again. :sad2:

wait WHAT??? you didnt call "me"???

(just wanted to make you smile! serious  my friend glad you are ok!)

Congrats Moo

WELCOME HOME Marita sounds like you had some interesting days also! :grouphug:

PJ Got a hint for you - on those test days - give the kids treats - like "mints" (there was a study done about raising brain activity with peppermint so our Kindergarten teachers buy the lifesaver peppermints and only gives it to kids on test days - now those kids look forward to brain food candy!! ) or a bite of banana (the kindergarten teachers get about 4 snacks from 1 banana - and then the mint) bananas are filling so kids arent hungry - plus that potassium and vitamin stuff is ... well yada yada...

but it reminds me of the Dog Trainers - when you want to change the dogs negative into a positive - feed them treats!! :thumbsup2 The things teachers do... oh wait... GOOD TEACHERS! unlike the crap I'm going thru!

Life is crap (and Alli I'd like to use that f word, but it would only cheapen me - and they need to be cheapened!) DH is writing a long letter to the superintendent of schools. I'm so sick of DD teachers - a child that never cries, has cried too much this year. BUT this morning I realized I should thank the teachers for ONE good thing they did, I was able to hug and hold my daughter, and give her comfort and love... its been a long time since I claimed that memory! SHE'S IN f 6th GRADE!! (I'm starting to feel cheeap!) DH company decided NOT to lay anyone off and give every one a 20% pay deduction. and other crap.

so I hate posting when its all crap.

but I feel guilty that I missed something!!

:wizard:

Thanks for the WB's!

Mom was a real trooper on her birthday, stayed up the whole day. Visits from relatives and church ladies and the priest's community relations guy.

Friend of mom's ordered lunch and dinner from caterer (sandwiches and salads for lunch, Goulash soup for dinner snack), and a huge 2-tierd cake for the afternoon. Way too much really. But it was very nice. Mom was bushed by 7pm though.

Overall, mom is not well at all. She really needs to be in a nursing home. I will spare you details.

After the birthday party on Tuesday, I ended up cleaning about 5 stray leftover glasses at 1 am. All was fine. The next morning, I wake up to mom's friend, who organized it all, being in the kitchen with her brother, fighting a clogged sink with no luck. Their suggestion was to have my brother call a plumber.
Meanwhile, I had tons of leftover food I didnt know what to do with.
Next day, my brother decides I should try another bottle of Drano. No luck with that. He tries plunger again. No luck. So he gives in and we call a plumber for the next day. No ETA. Meanwhile, I am stuck with tons of leftovers I dont know what to do with. Can;t put it down the toilet, no garbage disposal. I called my SIL in dispair. She sent over my bro with plastic bags to dispose of it.
So, whew, that is taken care of, but still not able to do dishes. Finally at 3pm on Friday the plumber shows up and works for 30 or 45 minutes with an electric snake with no luck. He calls in a second guy. they work for 2 hours and opened something in the basement (Mom lives on the second floor of an apt building for 50 years). Anyway, at some point, black slime shoots out of the sink all over the kitchen!!!!!!!!!!!!!ether.
It was a total disster! The men cleaned it up the best they could.

Turns out, not our fault at all, the landlord is paying the bill, which is sure to be substantial. But it stressed me.

Yesterday in Atlanta, I went up an escalator and scraped my toe on a rising stair. Nothing bad though, no blood, just a little nail trim, lol.
My plane was supposed to land at 4:29 in Orlando yesterday, but there was a bad storm. We were in a hold pattern for 30 minutes, then ended up waiting for luggage for 1 1/2 hours because somthing wiped out the luggage tracks. TG I have the rest of the week off!

ETA: Sandy, sorry you are having a rough spell {hug}! But all in all, taking a 20% pay cut is a whole lot better than losing a job all together, so look on the bright side!

P.J.--The day is called Victoria Day ( It is Queen Victoria's birthday). Everyone gets it off..:woohoo: It is usually called the 2 ,4 weekend.:lmao: Always the third Monday of May.
I'm not following why it's called the 2,4 weekend. Enlighten me.

I'm back and I am beat! Up since 9:30am German time Monday morning and it;s now 3am Wednesday morning German time with a total of 2 1/2 hours of (interspersed) sleep. Too tired to report tonight. Moo, congrats on 50 lbs. Awesome! :thumbsup2
Welcome back, Marita!!! :dance3: Sounds like an eventful trip. I'm glad you got to spend some time with your mom. :goodvibes Any pictures?

The neurologist told my friend Debbie that he believes she's been having mini-strokes (TIAs) in addition to the migraines. That would explain a lot, but it was quite shocking to all of us. Some prayers would be greatly appreciated! They're going to be doing some further testing over the next couple weeks.

Peej - I sure hope Memorial Day isn't a make-up day for you
Consider prayers said.

We get it off! :woohoo:

PJ Got a hint for you - on those test days - give the kids treats - like "mints" (there was a study done about raising brain activity with peppermint so our Kindergarten teachers buy the lifesaver peppermints and only gives it to kids on test days - now those kids look forward to brain food candy!! ) or a bite of banana (the kindergarten teachers get about 4 snacks from 1 banana - and then the mint) bananas are filling so kids arent hungry - plus that potassium and vitamin stuff is ... well yada yada...
Oh, they get treats. Each day they get tootsie rolls, peppermints, bubble gum, and water bottles during the test. Try maintaining a quiet testing environment with small children, water bottles, and candy wrappers. Yeah.

The principal also paid for everyone to get breakfast every morning. So now I've added food service to my daily routine since breakfast is served in the classroom. A lot of my kiddos don't get to eat at home so the theory was that they will all get a nutritious breakfast before testing. So guess what nutritious breakfast they were given this morning? Pizza and orange juice. I kid you not. When they came rolling in my room with pizzas this morning I almost thought it was a joke.

And p.s. Sorry you're having a hard time.

What a busy day....

Then we had swimming and baseball practice. The season of baseball starts next week.

P.J.-- it is called 24 weekend because a lot of people are out camping, seeing fireworks etc. And drinking a (24) case of beer.......:lmao:

Marita-- glad you didn't lose a toe. Yuck on the kitchen plumbing. Did you ever think of eating the leftovers. :lmao:

Sandy-- sorry your dd is having a bad year. Nicholas is grade 6 this year too and it has been a bad year for him too. Did you watch Biggest Loser?

Hannah had to watch Top Model tonight it was the finale. Her girl did not win. I guess there are other girls in her class that watch. This his grade 3. I watch way to much reality tv. I am watching Idol right now.

Nab, way too many leftovers. Enough to feed an army.

Think I'm going to look up Marky mark

Welcome Back Marita.:)

Sandy, sometimes life is crap. But as I always say when life hands you lemons, throw them at people you don't like. or at the very least throw them at unsuspecting bystanders. or maybe make lemonade to treat your scurvy. ya know. whatever works.

Celery you make me laugh. But in a good way.

Moo, prayers and pixie dust.:wizard:

Why am I here at this hour? Long story, but dd and I did just get home. We cranked up the music in the car and sung (ok. screamed) at the top of our lungs. Why does that always make me feel better? You wanna know what dd said? "Mom you sing so good!!!!!!!":goodvibes........."If you were twenty years younger you would be really cool"

"Uhhhh. Thank you???"

Anywho....

My life is kinda sorta overwhelming right now. Dad's bday, mom's bday, dd's 16th (eek) bday, anniversary, two nephews bday, uncles bday, bil's bday, fathers day, drivers ed, rodeo, summer enrichment programs, baseball, end of school year activities, THREE field trips, and trying to plan a MAYBE vacation in June.

That is in addition to my usual babynursing, cinderella dutying, and rebecca of sunnybrooking.

Needless to say I might not be around much, but I'm thinking of y'all.

Thanks so much for the prayers for my friend. I decided not to bug her by phone today, but will check in with her tomorrow to see if she's doing any better. I sure hope she is improving.

Thank you also for the good wishes on my weight loss. I seem to be stalled again, but my body really seems to like being around this particular weight :headache: I was also stuck at this weight a couple years ago when I was on Weight Watchers and ended up just giving up. That's NOT going to happen this time!!! I know if I persevere the scale will start moving downward again.

My hubby is continuing to have kind of a rough time recuperating. He can't stand the protein shakes any more, so I've been trying to find some concoction that he likes. Maybe I'll have better luck with that tomorrow :confused3 I'm going to have him try vanilla protein powder in some flat diet root been tomorrow, kinda like a root beer float. He's pretty ornery right now because he is having some abdominal pain. I convinced him he ought to just stay home from work until he's feeling better. Per the doctor's office, he's keeping an eye out to make sure he doesn't have a fever. His two-week check-up is on Monday, thank goodness.

Sandy - Sending you a  Sounds like you need one right now! Hope things get better soon. We missed you!!!

Marita - Nice to have you back!!!!!! Boo hiss on the travel delays. Sorry your mom is doing poorly, but it was great to hear that her birthday went pretty well (except for the plumbing problem . . . BLECH).

bbn and Nabbie - You both sound WAY too busy!!! :dance3::dance3:

So, will "Julia" be getting her license soon? That'll be loads of fun for you, bbn :)

Peej - Yay for getting Memorial Day off! I didn't figure they could use that as a make-up day.

Cel - Re: the batwings. I'm pretty sure I'm going to have that problem too :guilty: BUT, on my discussion forum, there's a woman in her late 40s whose upper arms look fantastic! She is kind of an exercise fanatic though. I doubt I could ever be that committed, but the results sure were worth it. If you want to see a pic, I'll send you a link by PM.

Rise and shine!!!!
I have coffee and thin mints, yum!

My system is obviously still way out of whack. I NEVAH get up at 5AM on my own. :scared1:

BBn, wow, you sound busy. Miss you around these parts. Condolenses on Julia's drivers license. You never stop worrying once they start.

Moo, sorry about Mr Moo not doing so well. I'm sure a grumpy Moo-man is no fun to have around. And I am sure you will lose the weight, just hang in there.
Lynette, I looked up the communion pics last night. Just beautiful!

I think window cleaning is on the agenda for today. I still have some tape stuck on the patio doors from the hurricanes of 2004. Hard ask helk to get off (I tried). I googled a bit last night, WD-40 seems recommended, so I think I'll try that.

It's a rainy day over here! On a no school day. Double sigh.

I think we will make something today.

Have to give props to my team (game 7)

My IT instructor sent my grade via email. Oh, did I mention I went to my last class on Wednesday for nothing. It was only for those who needed more time to turn in their assignments, he forgot to email me to stay home. grrrrrr.
Anyways, I got a 98%.

Just waiting on my Psych grade. For sure it's an A, based on what I know, I just want to know how high of an A.:snooty: :rotfl:

Hugs to my friends! I hope the bumps can get smoothed out.
