Yikes! I guess that's probably the
only perk of working for a big retail chain. I get my paid maternity leave no matter what. Plus I have two weeks vacation to use so I am taking the last two weeks in July because I know it's going to be miserable hot here and I won't want to do anything. I had thought about saving my vacation for later but I really desperately want to find a new job while I am on leave so that's my motivation. I just have zero consistency in my schedule where I am at now and I know my store manager would never let me have a set schedule. Between having a new baby, going back to school in the spring, and needing to work full time still...that's just not going to work. I need a job that doesn't give me such erratic work hours. Hopefully I'll be able to find something!
Ann, it's only in the 70's there? That sounds like heaven! It's already been getting in the high 90's where I'm at and it's miserable
I work in "Retail Financial Services"... I'm a teller in a bank.

Technically, according to the HR policy I just can't go on "leave" before I go on "maternity leave"... I think that means I can't get written out of work weeks before the baby is born and then still take maternity leave and get it all paid (my maternity is 12 wks 100% pay, paid in a lump sum, so it's pretty substantial). I think. I don't want to jinx myself so I've just told myself I have to work up until D-Day. I get 6 days of paid sick leave, and I think I could take them if I needed.. but I'm just not going to jinx it!
This is another reason I'm leaning towards asking my Dr. to induce, even if she doesn't think it's necessary after this next ultrasound. Being a teller, especially, I'll be more comfortable getting out of work on my own terms- instead of management having to come in and dig through my drawers and lockers (which I have sole access to)... the hole thing just makes me want to empty it out and clean it up and fix the things that aren't exactly up to "policy" that I've got in there...
I totally took a week of my vacation in April... I couldn't help it, I wanted some "me" time!

You're a stronger woman than I am to hang on to it!
Check out banking, though. It's not bad and the hours are pretty consistant (since most banks have good hours!) and the benefits are amazing, I'll admit. My bank even paid my tuition for my Associates in Business Admin!

Then I had to go and change my major to Elementary Ed....
So tonight her and I are going out to dinner and then something just the 2 of us while our hubbies entertain each other

after all he needs to grieve with his friends too. But I have no idea what to do after dinner...I don't want it to be anything to strenuous and something where we can talk. We talked about walking around the mall...but I'd like to do something more special than that--any ideas??
It's not exactly "special" but I totally want to see "Ghosts of Girlfriends Past" or whatever and stare at Matthew tonight.
Well it's friday- so I guess you can assume I was at Target getting some deals (Today i spent $5.96 taxes and all- saved $31.99-- and even got size 3 diapers- lol. I did excellent I think)
