Mingos in the Watah! What in the Wuhld?

I enjoyed your Illuminations pictures! Finally got to see it again this trip...I don't think I've seen it since 2003!

The girls look adorable playing ring around the rosy. They are growing up so much! I really wish the kids would stop that for awhile. I want to keep them little. I keep looking at my big boy and am wondering what happen to my baby.

Hello from DWGal210 and KSchafer! We're in Kansas City in the midst of our girl's weekend. Anita and Jen come up tomorrow AM and we're going to hit the town! :cool1: Also, there is a Raglan Road here in Kansas City (same as in Downtown Disney) so we're going there for dinner tomorrow night!!! :woohoo:

Have a great Sunday, everyone!

I love love love Illuminations!!! The music is so wonderful!
gummy bears in the morning - I love it!

Woo hoo, we're going to AK!!

We are working toward going to Aulani. DH wants to go for his 50th, which is in 2-3 years. So we would go in winter of 2014 probably, the winter following his b-day. I might need to add some DVC points before then too!;) He has big plans for his 50th. Wants to do an Alaskan cruise in the summer 2013 (his 50th is in May 2013) too. I told him for my 50th (which is much further away) I want to do a Mediterranean cruise.

I might need to get a third job...

Love it! She's too adorable!!

I think your Illuminations pics are a billion times better than whatever I can usually get! You can see the hot air balloon on the globe! My globe pics don't even turn out as a circular object!!

Pop looks so peaceful in the morning! I've still always been meaning to go there to try the tie-dye cheesecake!

If you go visit in the afternoon, it will have a whole different vibe. The Hippy Dippy Pool will be filled with activity and the sounds of kids having a great time in the water. :hippie:

The cheesecake is good when you get a moist one, but less than wonderful if you happen to get a dry one. They're interesting, though, so you should try one just to say you have.

My fireworks pictures never turn out that well either. I have learned that I apparently will never get a good one unless I get a tripod. Apparently I am not steady enough in my camera holding skills.

I always love your early morning POP pictures. I can never get up that early in the morning, so I don't think I'll ever have good early morning resort pictures.

Drew tells me I'll never get good pictures without a tripod, but I just don't think about taking one. I did once, but I think I pulled it out once.

Well, I'll take plenty of early morning pictures for you, so you can continue to sleep in. :thumbsup2

Electricity is a wonderful thing 6 full days without it really makes you appreciate it! We've been taking ice cold showers, eating take out every night, and sleeping weird hours. I was in bed at 9:30 the other night and woke up at 6:00 And this was before I started school! My normal teenager summer sleep hours are 2:00-10:00 My grandma was staying here while her power was out. Luckily hers came back 2 days ago so she could get back to normal. And we just had to go to the laundromat. Even though our power is back...our washing machine is broken Now we're off to do my grandma's grocery shopping and before we can do ours we have to...clean out our fridge My mom just told me that we had a couple "science expermient" type things growing in there

I'll be back later once things settle down!

I can do that now too!

I'd say you had it worse than any other DISer. Sorry about that. I know you are glad to be back to normal.

Wonderful to take a walk around Pop in the morning. Yum, gummy bears.
I am not sure I will be the first. Jason is very hesitant to fly that far with the boys. I still may talk him into it. Who knows. I can see his point though. The trip wears me out. Can't wait to hear from the first to see Aulani though! Does it count that I saw it from the airplane in July?

I'm sticking with my you or Happydog guess. I might be wrong, but I see you guys as being voted Most Likely to Aulani.

I know it won't be me. I do well to do the less than two hour flight to WDW. I am way ready to get off the plane when it stops, and I don't like those people clogging up my escape aisle when we try to get off, either! :rotfl:

I'm glad everyone had their power back! Now on to the regularly scheduled DISing!

I think your pics from Illuminations look pretty good! I never even try!

You were certainly up early that morning! I love how there was no one in line for check-in! It reminds me of one trip where we checked in at 3 am. Dh was coming back home from Navy training, so I picked him up at the airport in Jacksonville at midnight, and we drove right to WDW. His family was already there, so we had a reason for not waiting until the next morning, but the CMs were pretty surprised to see us!

It looks like you are getting ready for a fun day at ANIMAL KINGDOM! Yay!

I guess the CM's get used to seeing me out taking pictures in the early mornings. They probably think I am a little .

Animal Kingdom fun it will be! :woohoo:

I spy with my little eye...Animal Kingdom!

I love Bella's face with her cup of candy! So adorable!

I might have to try watching Illuminations from Mexico sometime! I usually watch from France but your pictures are lovely! Looks like you must have had a great view!

We did just fine right there at Mexico. ::yes::

I will have to make the guessing of the park harder next time. Of course, for some of you, I could zoom in to one crack on a sidewalk and you would know the park!

If I had to choose between seeing Wishes or Illuminations, I'd choose Wishes, but I do love Illuminations. I've been listening to the music a lot. I've been listening to a LOT of Disney ever since Katie called me on Monday night to tell me they were driving to Disney a little later in the week.

I have a feeling if I told Charles that there is a Disney resort in Hawaii now, he would sigh deeply, shake his head, and say no, even if I did not ASK anything.
He is dying to go back, and to take me, but even if we had the money, the long flight would deter him a little. In February, they flew from Boston to Chicago (just three hours), then Chicago to Honolulu, which was around twelve hours. I know it was really uncomfortable for him just because of how tall he is. He hates long drives, and I guess long flights, too. When I said something about going to visit Katie and Patrick, HE mentioned driving down, which really shocked me. I'll see what he says when I ask him again in a few weeks when we can go visit.

I really do love your early morning Pop pictures. It seems like on vacation, I am always the first one to wake up, so I did take a couple of walks around, but they weren't really too early in the morning. Your pictures just make me so excited to go back!

So it might be Megablocks and Charles who are the first ones to Aulani. The race to the islands is on!!! :cool1:

Hello BrooklynnsMom and MeMom! I came across this TR and started reading, but then saw yall had several TRs! I started from the beginning and have been working my way through all of them. I've really enjoyed all of them. It's helpful in a way to see how yall handled having Brooklynn then Bella as babies at Disney. I'll be bringing my DD to Disney for the first time. Cady will turn 8 months right before we leave. The merchandise pics are tempting me! There's so much I see in your pics that I want to get during this trip. Also enjoy seeing your party and family get-together pics. I wish my family's get-togethers were that cool!

Very glad to have you. We hope you do get some good travel tips as you take your little one. Jill has it down to a science now. She really has it all very nicely organized before she goes, so it makes it a lot easier when we are there.

This year from 3-4 is a big one, too. He will definitely lose his baby-ness this go round. Don't stress about it, though, because big kids are fun, too.

You girls keep Anita in check on her spending, for poor old left behind Marc's sake.

Enjoy Raglan Road and your sort of Disney day.

I might need to get a third job...

I need another job. I just don't have time for one. My first one seems to be taking over my life, as evidenced by the papers I worked on yesterday and the still not finished things I need to do.

You certainly do a great job promoting Pop! My df is staying there in Dec, and I will have to show her your pics. Dh mentioned arriving late and staying there for a night to save points...I might have to rebook our flight to do just that...

I agree that Brooklyn looks so grown up in the pic outside of AK.

I am lucky that overall our morale is pretty high in our building regardless of still not making AYP. (It clearly isn't going to happen and it is so sad that we just keep trying and trying to achieve the impossible...the targets went up again this year to 81% and 78%. If we couldn't make lower targets, how will we make the higher ones? Then, again, they are a different group of kids. Maybe they are better readers and mathmaticians...)

I just do whatever I can in my own little world to help each student improve. (And I dream of Disney on those sad, sad, days. :upsidedow)

I for one can say MeMom is responsible for my love of POP! It's now our "home" at WDW!

Don't count me out for Aulani....I'm already planning!

I have to share a funny story...

You always mention eating PopTarts on your trips so the other day I said to Lexi while we were in the grocery store we should try them and see if we like them... well everyone (Aaron, Lexi, DMom and me) love them! They disapeared so fast.

Thanks for the tip....I will be buying some for those early morning rope drops. :thumbsup2

What's your favorite flavor?

I'm on my way to the States to do some last minute shopping for back to school. I'm having the hardest time finding shoes for Lexi that she likes (size 11 ladies) :scared1:...I know and she is only 11 yrs old.
I have no clue where to find shoes bigger than that if she keeps growing.

I will be looking for what different flavors of PopTarts you have compare to us here in Canada. ;)

CanadianWDWfan---You don;t have PopTarts in Canada? I guess I was never in the breakfast food aisle when were were at the grocery store when we were in Canada a couple weeks ago!

I like the Strawberry, the cinnomon (Sp?) the chocoolate and cookies n cream kind. Sometimes we get blueberry too but out of the fruit flavors strawberry is our favorite!

So glad you got to see Illuminations on this last trip. I know it must be hard to stay up late with little ones, especially since you guys are always up so early. It is worth loosing sleep over though. I love that show!

Am I too old for swim lessons in Distown? Normally I'd be ashamed to admit that I can't swim, but I don't mind admitting that to my DISfriends. I'm sure you guys won't laugh in my face about it. :rotfl:

I can never get a good fireworks shot either, even on fireworks setting. I wouldn't want to drag around a tripod.

I remember seeing Pop lobby come alive when I worked graveyard. It was fun to see guests strolling in, dragging their half awake family members behind them.

That face was adorable.:goodvibes

That park is definitely Animal Kingdom :thumbsup2

My favorite pop tart is the strawberry (with frosting) and smores.

My dad said someone came up to him yesterday and said something along the lines of "Wow! You're Ed! You're our favorite toy in the toy box." He was all smiles but had to keep the line moving. He said he looked for them again later but he didn't see them.

My vote: CHERRY!!!!

Its the only flavor that I can eat cold or heated up! I also like the Strawberry pop-tarts -- but IMO, they just don't taste the same cold. I'm weird about stuff, I know (might be the pregnancy hormones again! LOL!)

I'm taking down a huge box of Cherry poptarts for sure!!!

MeMom -- I completely forgot to post my very final "garden update" on my PTR this morning, so I'll have to work on that for this evening! A very sad event occurred last night as we had to throw away ALL 30 of our watermelons!!! :sad2: :headache: :sad2:

I thought of you as we were doing it & I almost cried! Probably just being over-emotional with the pregnancy & all -- but it was really sad! I think I was most looking forward to our watermelons, but unfortunately we just didn't plant them early enough this season. They needed planted in April/May so that's what we will do next year. I ran in the house to grab my camera but by the time I came back, my DH had already taken them across the street to throw in the field. So no pics unfortunately!

I'm so glad I read your updates this morning!!! I was able to see 3 of my favorite things = my favorite park, my favorite ride, and my favorite gift shop!!! :lmao: :lmao:

I had a smile on my face the entire time I read through! I cannot wait until Garden Grill!!! It will be a first for us! Seeing the house with the dog on the porch almost brought me to tears -- last year, it was the only thing that reminded Luke of "home" so it definitely has special meaning to me!!! I LOVE that the restaurant turns & hope that Luke is as thrilled about it as Brooklynn was!!! :goodvibes

Glad you were able to see Illuminations!!! That looks like a good view beside Mexico!!! Last year we sat on a ledge right outside of Mexico, in between World Showcase & the Baby Center going into Future World. It's normally a good place to sit, but last June the crowds were just too much!

I love seeing all of your pictures of Pop!!! I'm going to have to share them with my mom since their trip is less than a month away now! You should work there as a Tour Guide someday!!! Or maybe as a trainer for new employees! You could make up a slideshow of all of your wonderful pictures!!! :thumbsup2

Can't wait to hear about your day at Animal Kingdom!!!

I dream of Disney, too. Thus, my classroom decor. :thumbsup2

They must not be threatening your jobs there like they are here. I think some of it is the way our principal comes across. He doesn't always accentuate the positive, and he says things in a way that offends the integrity and professionalism of the teachers, as if we are not trying. I don't know that he means to do it like that, but that's how he comes across. Then we have teachers crowded up in the doorways moaning.

As for the goals, they can make me (the student) practice as much as they want, and they can whip my coach (the teacher) as much as they want, but if I am not capable of dunking a basketball, we're both going to be labeled failures, right? That's what this is kin to. I got a new student last week. Her reading level is 1. She will not make mastery. I can't do. She can't do it. The Board of Education can't do it. The Governor can't do it. The President can't do it. They are all welcome to come and try. I wish they would, actually.

Staying value is a good way to maximize those points. I hope you like Pop, if you decide to stay there sometime. :)

My favorite Pop-tarts are Brown Sugar Cinnamon and Wild Grape. :goodvibes They are not a healthy food, but man, are they convenient! Grab and go. :thumbsup2 One for on the run in the car and one for mid-morning. ::yes::

Are your shoe sizes like US sizes? Size 11 is definitely big for such a little girl, if so. Maybe she will end up being a tall basketball player!

Trent is a strawberry man, too. He very rarely eats them, but when he does, it's a strawberry one.

It's hard to imagine someone never having had a Pop-tart, isn't it?

If they get good long naps in the afternoons, the girls can hold out a little longer, or if we know there will be a sleep-in day the next morning. We don't do many sleep-in days, though, to be honest.

If you were still there, you would see me about 5:30 a.m. as you went around putting the bad envelopes on doors.

Wonder who knew Ed?!?!? It could have been Katie and Patrick. They are there. Did he describe them?

We have to get you in the pool, girl. Poolrat can teach you all the tricks. :thumbsup2

We never heat ours up. We just grab them and go. I think most people probably do. Do they still have frosted apple? Those were good.

If I could get my family to all go with me, and they could all have good jobs down there, I'd be fine with working for Disney World. Unfortunately, I have been in my school system too long to let it go and start over somewhere. Maybe when I retire, I could go and work part of the year there.

Garden Grill spins ever so slowly. Brooklynn only noticed it every so often, since she was involved with the characters. I really like that the characters make the full circle, so there's no guessing where they left off and no missing kids, which has happened to us a few times at Crystal Palace, where the tables are spread out everywhere.

i am really sorry to hear about the watermelon crop. I got one the other day, and I may get one more before they are done for the season. Definitely my favorite fruit. :goodvibes

I was so behind, but now i'm all caught up. :woohoo:

I just wanted to tell you that you are the reason I booked at Pop this afternoon for our 4th trip this year. :cool1::thumbsup2

Loved all the updates. Brooklynn and Bella are getting sooo big!

Great updates!:thumbsup2

I thought you got some great shots of Illumination, especially of the globe. We finally saw this as a family in 2010. I'm looking forward to seeing it again in Feb.

I get up early but not as early as you. I do enjoy your early morning pictures. They're so peaceful. The girls looks so cute. What day was this? I see they are wearing firework outfits.

Looking forward to your Animal Kingdom day.

I wish I could sleep later. I am up and ready to go, though, before the crack of dawn. If we stay out late for fireworks like NYE or to close a nighttime EMH park and get in in the wee hours of the morning, I might make it until 5:30 or 6:00 before I open my eyes. I really wish I did sleep like normal people, because it is no fun to yawn all day like I do or start dozing whenever I sit down for any length of time.

This day that we are about to begin in 4th of July.
