You certainly do a great job promoting Pop! My df is staying there in Dec, and I will have to show her your pics. Dh mentioned arriving late and staying there for a night to save points...I might have to rebook our flight to do just that...
I agree that Brooklyn looks so grown up in the pic outside of AK.
I am lucky that overall our morale is pretty high in our building regardless of still not making AYP. (It clearly isn't going to happen and it is so sad that we just keep trying and trying to achieve the impossible...the targets went up again this year to 81% and 78%. If we couldn't make lower targets, how will we make the higher ones? Then, again, they are a different group of kids. Maybe they are better readers and mathmaticians...)
I just do whatever I can in my own little world to help each student improve. (And I dream of Disney on those sad, sad, days. )
I dream of Disney, too. Thus, my classroom decor.
They must not be threatening your jobs there like they are here. I think some of it is the way our principal comes across. He doesn't always accentuate the positive, and he says things in a way that offends the integrity and professionalism of the teachers, as if we are not trying. I don't know that he means to do it like that, but that's how he comes across. Then we have teachers crowded up in the doorways moaning.
As for the goals, they can make me (the student) practice as much as they want, and they can whip my coach (the teacher) as much as they want, but if I am not capable of dunking a basketball, we're both going to be labeled failures, right? That's what this is kin to. I got a new student last week. Her reading level is 1. She will not make mastery. I can't do. She can't do it. The Board of Education can't do it. The Governor can't do it. The President can't do it. They are all welcome to come and try. I wish they would, actually.
Staying value is a good way to maximize those points. I hope you like Pop, if you decide to stay there sometime.
I for one can say MeMom is responsible for my love of POP! It's now our "home" at WDW!
Don't count me out for Aulani....I'm already planning!
I have to share a funny story...
You always mention eating PopTarts on your trips so the other day I said to Lexi while we were in the grocery store we should try them and see if we like them... well everyone (Aaron, Lexi, DMom and me) love them! They disapeared so fast.
Thanks for the tip....I will be buying some for those early morning rope drops.
What's your favorite flavor?
I'm on my way to the States to do some last minute shopping for back to school. I'm having the hardest time finding shoes for Lexi that she likes (size 11 ladies) ...I know and she is only 11 yrs old.
I have no clue where to find shoes bigger than that if she keeps growing.
I will be looking for what different flavors of PopTarts you have compare to us here in Canada.
My favorite Pop-tarts are Brown Sugar Cinnamon and Wild Grape.

They are not a healthy food, but man, are they convenient!

Grab and go.

One for on the run in the car and one for mid-morning.
Are your shoe sizes like US sizes? Size 11 is definitely big for such a little girl, if so. Maybe she will end up being a tall basketball player!
CanadianWDWfan---You don;t have PopTarts in Canada? I guess I was never in the breakfast food aisle when were were at the grocery store when we were in Canada a couple weeks ago!
I like the Strawberry, the cinnomon (Sp?) the chocoolate and cookies n cream kind. Sometimes we get blueberry too but out of the fruit flavors strawberry is our favorite!
Trent is a strawberry man, too. He very rarely eats them, but when he does, it's a strawberry one.
It's hard to imagine someone never having had a Pop-tart, isn't it?
So glad you got to see Illuminations on this last trip. I know it must be hard to stay up late with little ones, especially since you guys are always up so early. It is worth loosing sleep over though. I love that show!
If they get good long naps in the afternoons, the girls can hold out a little longer, or if we know there will be a sleep-in day the next morning. We don't do many sleep-in days, though, to be honest.
Am I too old for swim lessons in Distown? Normally I'd be ashamed to admit that I can't swim, but I don't mind admitting that to my DISfriends. I'm sure you guys won't laugh in my face about it.
I can never get a good fireworks shot either, even on fireworks setting. I wouldn't want to drag around a tripod.
I remember seeing Pop lobby come alive when I worked graveyard. It was fun to see guests strolling in, dragging their half awake family members behind them.
That face was adorable.
That park is definitely Animal Kingdom
My favorite pop tart is the strawberry (with frosting) and smores.
My dad said someone came up to him yesterday and said something along the lines of "Wow! You're Ed! You're our favorite toy in the toy box." He was all smiles but had to keep the line moving. He said he looked for them again later but he didn't see them.
If you were still there, you would see me about 5:30 a.m. as you went around putting the bad envelopes on doors.
Wonder who knew Ed?!?!? It could have been Katie and Patrick. They are there. Did he describe them?
We have to get you in the pool, girl. Poolrat can teach you all the tricks.
My vote: CHERRY!!!!
Its the only flavor that I can eat cold or heated up! I also like the Strawberry pop-tarts -- but IMO, they just don't taste the same cold. I'm weird about stuff, I know (might be the pregnancy hormones again! LOL!)
I'm taking down a huge box of Cherry poptarts for sure!!!
We never heat ours up. We just grab them and go. I think most people probably do. Do they still have frosted apple? Those were good.
MeMom -- I completely forgot to post my very final "garden update" on my PTR this morning, so I'll have to work on that for this evening! A very sad event occurred last night as we had to throw away ALL 30 of our watermelons!!!
I thought of you as we were doing it & I almost cried! Probably just being over-emotional with the pregnancy & all -- but it was really sad! I think I was most looking forward to our watermelons, but unfortunately we just didn't plant them early enough this season. They needed planted in April/May so that's what we will do next year. I ran in the house to grab my camera but by the time I came back, my DH had already taken them across the street to throw in the field. So no pics unfortunately!
I'm so glad I read your updates this morning!!! I was able to see 3 of my favorite things = my favorite park, my favorite ride, and my favorite gift shop!!!
I had a smile on my face the entire time I read through! I cannot wait until Garden Grill!!! It will be a first for us! Seeing the house with the dog on the porch almost brought me to tears -- last year, it was the only thing that reminded Luke of "home" so it definitely has special meaning to me!!! I LOVE that the restaurant turns & hope that Luke is as thrilled about it as Brooklynn was!!!
Glad you were able to see Illuminations!!! That looks like a good view beside Mexico!!! Last year we sat on a ledge right outside of Mexico, in between World Showcase & the Baby Center going into Future World. It's normally a good place to sit, but last June the crowds were just too much!
I love seeing all of your pictures of Pop!!! I'm going to have to share them with my mom since their trip is less than a month away now! You should work there as a Tour Guide someday!!! Or maybe as a trainer for new employees! You could make up a slideshow of all of your wonderful pictures!!!
Can't wait to hear about your day at Animal Kingdom!!!
If I could get my family to all go with me, and they could all have good jobs down there, I'd be fine with working for Disney World. Unfortunately, I have been in my school system too long to let it go and start over somewhere. Maybe when I retire, I could go and work part of the year there.
Garden Grill spins ever so slowly. Brooklynn only noticed it every so often, since she was involved with the characters. I really like that the characters make the full circle, so there's no guessing where they left off and no missing kids, which has happened to us a few times at Crystal Palace, where the tables are spread out everywhere.
i am really sorry to hear about the watermelon crop. I got one the other day, and I may get one more before they are done for the season. Definitely my favorite fruit.
