Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - Part II

We are heading to my Mom's today for a big pot of gumbo. I'll be dropping off Gracie :dogdance: so she gets to vacation in the "country" while we go to the beach.

Sounds like a great Sunday!

Morning guys. I too am heading to Mom's today. Kathy I am glad Kyle is coming home.

You too!!

Kathy, Sorry for the team's loss, but what a great experience for Kyle. I know Mom is glad her baby boy is coming home!!! :goodvibes

Anyone heard from Jenny lately? I'm starting to worry about her!

I just got back from the grocery store and I overdid it, everything Kyle likes went into the basket.:sad2:

I haven't seen Jenny around in a while, hope she's OK.

Happy Sunday!

I am sorry ahead of time b/c i just feel like I don't have much happy stuff to say lately! I must admit, though, it still is a good year! Nothing was as bad as when Ashton was sick and it helps put the little things that go wrong into perfect perspective. DH always just says, "somehow it will work out, this ain't nothin' but a thing"!

Well, I had a blow today. My boss called me last week to make sure I update my CPR, TB,registry etc, etc... and I was under the impression all was well. You see, me and the other PRN girl are the only registered cardiac sonographers in our dept. Now before you think ,"well why are people allowed to work without being registered?" Well, it has never been a requirement in my field until the past few years, where ONE person in the dept has to be registered and the unregistered can still work at the same capacity. So, we have 2 full timers-1 has been in the field 20 years or more and 1 is on the newer side, but very good-she is working/studying for her registry. So I have been under the false impression that me and the other PRN person's job was secure.

My boss also told me they were cutting back on hours b/c of some wierd way our hospital figures out how many we can use-but we are busier and it makes no sense(don't know what "power" figures THAT out:confused3  ). So, I had some concern, as I work only 6-8 days a month, but my registry was saving me.

Well, if you look at our job section, you'll see there is an ad for a full time position for our dept. My DH is looking regularly for jobs and called me to mention that things aren't adding up for my place of work.

If they are hiring a new technologist, but are cutting hours, who do you think will get cut? The registered PRN people. I have a feeling I am being weeded out. I was also told by the co-worker whon has been doing this 20+ years, that they are making her get registered.

I am more upset that no one mentioned this to me or the other PRN'er-b/c we are whom this will affect!

So I guess it will be me and DH looking for new jobs together.

Lori

Lori I'm sorry things aren't going so good at your work. I hope everything works out for you in the end.

A very early good morning from Mandeville today. I need to go to SLU early to get Kendall from cheer camp. The final competition starts at 9 AM and they want the kids packed up and moved out by 7:15.

Lori, First of all, listen to your smart hubby! "This ain't nothing but a thing"!!

Now that my SIL has moved up into a management type position, I have been hearing strange things especially concerning "the power's" and some of the "financial" decisions made in the hospitals. There seems to be a total breakdown of common sense! But anyway, Can you go talk to your supervisor & ask them what the heck is going on? I'll be saying some prayers for y'al!

Let us know how the competition went if you have time!:cheer2:

Lori - I hope things work out with your job. Uncertainty about your job is very stressful even if it is nothing compared to dealing with your daughter's illness.

Tricia - Kendall must have had a blast.

Hi all.

Kendall's team won 1st place for the Extreme Routine they learned while there, 2nd for Cheer and Stunt and the Home Routine they went there with. They also won the Spirit Award for being the friendliest squad. The Spirit Award is voted on by all of the groups so I thought that says a lot about the girls since they were voted on by their peers. She had a great week, came home with practically no voice and can't wait to go back next year.

We leave for vacation tomorrow morning so all you ladies take care and have a great week.

Yeah for Kendall!:cheer2: :cheer2: Have a great vacation!!!

Thanks AGAIN ya'll. I worked today and my supervisor wasn't there. The other PRN'er and I decdied that even if the job post isn't "real" we still need to keep our eyes open. But we also both decided that all is in God's hands and it will work out.

On a good note, my kids did school on thier own today(the stuff they could do on thier own) for DH. I love when school goes smoothly!:cool1: I do have to check math though-but DH overlooked it, so I am sure it is okay-but it has to be exact, so...!!!

I feel like WDW this past Feb was ages ago!

We are going to Pensacola in Sept and I am looking so forward to it!

Lori

:sad1: Rough rough start to our week. Alexis' great-grandmother passed away this morning. This is her Dad's Grandma who also raised him. Her Mom & Dad were at the hospital all day. I had to tell her this morning. It was rough, she cried a lot & had some really tough questions. She's a big thinker that child. She was worried about her Paw-Paw cause now he was going to have to live all alone.

Congrats to Kendall and her squad!!:cheer2: :cheer2:

Sheryl - So sorry for your loss, hug Alexis for me.

Sheryl - so sorry for the loss. Alexis is so young to have to deal with this.

Tricia - sounds like you will have a happy girl to go on vacation with.

Lori - you just have the best attitude. Good luck with everything.

Kathy - where is Kyle? Close to home yet?

This was from earlier today:

The Knights won!!!!:cheer2: :cheer2: The other pitcher only lasted one inning and Kyle had to come in, we were down 5-0. Kyle shut them down and we won 14-6! We play again at 5:30 ET. He sounded so tired on the phone, I know these boys aren't getting proper rest. They have bed-check at midnight but God only knows what time they're going to sleep.

This is now:

Kyle just called, their journey has ended. They lost 8-6 and are headed home tomorrow morning. He said he is so tired and ready to come home and y'all know I'm ready for him to come home so all is good. They had a great week and he had a week he'll never forget!:thumbsup2
glad Kyle had a great time and sorry he didn't get to go all the way..but the memories will be priceless!

something seems to happen to people when they move to management from the "field" almost like they forget what it was like to be there....

Kmores, I'd love to see it bigger for detail! It looks cute though!

Got our co-op schedule today for the kids! They are going to take art, writing OR public speaking(not sure yet), the constitution(I am teaching w/2 other moms), american geography, music appreciation and quilting. Not all classes will be taken by both-they have art and writing OR public speaking together and the others are per kid. This is the Constitution study we are teaching:
