Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - Part II

Girl, I've been there on that! I was only able to have my one child, wanted more but it didn't happen. But then hyst. made me feel so much better, it made it easier to cope with. If you feel like you're getting nutty, go talk to the dr right away. the hormones could become an issue. Pm me if you need to vent. But other peoples babies can help a lot!! Alexis has surely filled a void for me!

Lori - glad to hear that you have such a good approach to this. Sheryl is right about "borrowing babies". I was never able to have children - which I had always wanted.

But I must say that my friends have been so generous over the years in sharing their children with me. They are now young adults that I have a great relationship with.

I got to be the "aunt" that took them to DW, San Francisco, etc. Or even just overnights to my house for a special sleepover.

Happy Hump Day (or almost "Friday" for the short holiday week!)

Mrs. K - sorry to hear about your grandfather. That makes 3 deaths of people I know this week alone.

Tricia (arminnie) - Hope your dad is doing well with rehab. It's hard to see someone with so much independence have to struggle, but I do hope he bounces back. It sounds like he's a fighter.

Lori - gorgeous flowers! Wish we had smell-a-vision so we could get a nose full of those tropical fragrances.

For you Whole Foods fans, I read something I thought y'all would appreciate. It was in this month's 225 magazine (sort of BR's version of Gambit). Whole Foods was selected as the top grocery store in 2008's "best of" survey. This is an excerpt from the review article.

I have to hand it to them, they know how to make grocery shopping feel more like a vacation than a chore. Have you ever heard anyone complain about having to go to Whole Foods? Maybe a worker, maybe, but that’s not likely since they’re always one of Fortune’s best companies to work for. It’s almost like you’re going to the World Showcase at Epcot Center without all the themed architecture and costumes. Sushi chefs? Sure. Fresh pastries? Uh-huh. Imported beer and wine? Yep. The occasional “I dare you to eat that” fruit or vegetable? Indeed.

Ha Ha! That explains the attraction......Disney & Food....our own little F&W fest!

Kathy - Have fun in Hattiesburg! We're headed out of town to visit my godchild & his family. Wonder how gas prices are going to affect traffic?

Hey y'all!

Just got back from the eye doctor- no problems just a checkup. :magnify: He dilated my eyes, so I'm glad I made it home alive- I could barely see the road! :3dglasses Forgive any typos, the keyboard and computer screen is blurry too!

Thanks for the flower pic kudos! I'll have more I'm sure as more things bloom throgh the summer. The flowers I get is the only good thing about this heat and humidity!

Lori- I'm made you feel at peace with the surgery. My DD's nanan is single with no kids, but she loves to borrow DD for the reasons you're describing- best of both worlds: she can love on her, but give her back when things get messy! We have been trying, unsuccessfully so far, to have baby #2 and I am having a hard time with it. I need to make peace as well that if DD is meant to be an only, than so be it.

Sheryl- glad you had a good time in Houston!

cajunmommy- thanks for the Whole Foods excerpt! I'll pass along to DH- he'll be happy to see that.

Tricia I- Have fun at the zoo!

Tricia II- I hope your dad continues to improve. :flower3:

Kathy- Have fun in MS!

We're not doing much for the 4th. We're grilling burgers and corn, but that's about it. MIL might come over.

Lori - That's the worst part of the eye dr.'s visit for me (and I've been wearing glasses since pre-Kindergarten) - I can't stand waiting for the dilation to go away. It's so aggravating to be able to see some things, but not be able to focus on others!

BTW - your DH might be interested in the whole set of articles in 225's "Best of" issue (www.225batonrouge.com). Whole Foods placed in the top three in several categories. Looks like BR has really fallen in love with the store!

Hey ya'll! Glad I am not alone! I am thankful though that there is no more pining, but I kinda made sure of this before my surgery. I did an ech on a newborn the day before my surgery. After the echo i got her back dressed and held her and she was sooo sweet and oh that smell-but I felt NO pining feelings- and the relief i had right after making the decsion to have the hyst. was a BIG thing to me. I hadn't felt peace about it in 5 years b/c there was always the "chance"- but my cycles just got worse and worse. I could be heaped over in pain thinking, "but there is always the chance"-when I think I knew I had my answer.

Done, behind me, moving on to enjoy my older kids, who are going to be teens soon enough. I feel blessed that i will not be distracted with a baby when they are goping through, what i am thinking, will be some roller coaster years. I know people do it, and it works out. But I wanna enjoy them as teens. Part of that stems from having a mom who was very preoccupied during our teen years!

Some baggage here: My mom had been, for lack of as better word, a "cougar" back in those days. It was awful. At 42-ish, she married an 18 year old.:headache: :rolleyes1

Where is Jenny?

Thanks and girl, you ARE young, so just have fun keeping on trying:laughing: . The one thing DH said about deciding to try for #3 was that he was glad we got to wing it for so long. A Baby never happened. Good thing was, we are late 30's and it didn't bug us so much any more that it didn't happen.

I hope it happens for you, DH and Sienna, too!

We are not doing much either. Maybe head to Slidell to see the Kit Kittredge movie. It is not playing over here yet!!:guilty:

Thanks for the encouragement! :flower3: I'll be 33 next month ( it seems like such an onimous age, but I guess they'll all feel ominous going forward  ) so I guess the age thing is starting to make me more nervous. I don't really want to try after I'm 35, but I guess we'll see what happens!

After Ash got off of chemo, we felt like maybe we wanted another. I was 33. DH was really happy with 2, but I always had the idea I wanted 3. he was game though:laughing: and I knew he'd be happy either way. When 35 hit, I started having problems and found out about the endometriosis. I am not 38, so after 5 years of trying and 3 years of PAIN and "other stuff" and the new finding of a fibroid/polyp- it was finally time. My mom hemoraged from this issue in her mid 40's and wasn't waiting for that:idea: !!!

Hey y'all,

I know a Whole Foods visit is a treat to me! Did I tell y'all that Chris & Alexis saw Emeril at the WF's on Vets! Alexis recognized him & wanted to talk to him but Chris wouldn't let her!:sad2: She had the perfect opportunity too, she had one of his recipes in her hand & was shopping for the ingredients! And he had his little boy with him, and little Miss talkative would have done all the talking anyway.

We spent the morning decorating princess crowns. This afternoon Alexis & I went see Wall-E. It was cute, all though I sort of felt like it was a prolonged Save the Enviroment PSA. Alexis enjoyed it a lot more than I thought she would. But boy the questions she had on the way home. "Do people live in space?, Are there robots in space?, Can they talk like Wall-E? Why couldn't the people walk & why were they so fat? Can we go live in space?" Whew! There was even more than that! I asked her "Why do ask so many questions?" She replied "Well, Nana, I'm not like other people, I just have to ask questions because I need to know the answers now!"

I'm sad though, Alexis & her parents are going visit some of his family in MS for the weekend.

Here's a pic of my princess showing off her crown & since Alexis did so well taking my picture, here's the silly pic of me too..

Sheryl, I LOVE the pics!!!:cool1:

Ya'll are very princess worthy!princess: princess:

Watching Camp Rock again-with mt 2 DN's and DD's. DN6 asked me to put this:laundy: icon on the page as she is over my shoulders admiring Alexis and Sheryl's crowns!:cheer2: -oof, there is another one from her!!!!:grouphug: and one more to make her happy....(this is the one I wanted to bring to WDW with me this past Feb!!!)

Lori, If we can financially swing it, I won't have to press too hard! I'm going to go get all the details & see what we can do, I think it would be fun. We have both only cruised once, for DD's HS graduation. On Carnival, the "accessible" room was anything but, & there were ports that Bob couldn't even get off the boat. I'm sure Disney does a much better job. Bob did email Kevin, but didn't really get all the answers we needed. I'll look it to further & let you know1

someone please PM the information about how to find out about the /a cruise. I would like to be able to go with other people I (sorta) know!

Happy Hump Day Ladies...

Yes I too have been having that urge for another child. DD is 9 now so it would be like starting over. The past 2 days I have been cleaning out her old baby clothes...I will be moving to her baby furniture next.
This is too sad.:sad1:

hugs! I only have DD who is 8.5 now....unless I get a new hubby she is it...I am too tired to train another man :rotfl:

the nice thing about a condo is there is no storage...so I blessed others with her baby stuff. I do have a memory book I was able to save - she was freaking out that I saved one of her first diapers (ok - let me clarify that it was CLEAN) and she refuses to believe she was ever a baby or ever that small!

Hey y'all!

We have been trying, unsuccessfully so far, to have baby #2 and I am having a hard time with it. I need to make peace as well that if DD is meant to be an only, than so be it.

hugs to you too!

Hey y'all,

I know a Whole Foods visit is a treat to me!

great pics and great crowns! and I go to WF @ least 1X week for butternut squash crab bisque YUM!

Good morning. I am up very early today, I hate it when I can't sleep:mad:

Sheryl, ya'll are too cute with your crowns:goodvibes

I've gotta go pay the bills for this month, I will check in later on.

Have a good morning!

Mary

Love, love, love those pictures of the beautiful princess and queen.

All hail Lady Sheryl and Princess Alexis....princess: Too cute!

Too bad Alexis didn't get the chance to talk to one of her idols. Of course, I probably would've done the same thing as Chris. I would've been torn between not wanting to bother him (especially since he was with family) & allowing Alexis the experience to politely chat so she could see he was a real person who just happens to have a job that gives him lots of tv time.

Have a safe & happy holiday weekend everyone! Time to hit the road for me....we're off to Texas.

Good morning NOLA. :wave2:

Sheryl that's a great picture of both of you. You wear the crown well. princess:

Mary I was right there with you on the not sleeping. I hate when that happens. I was up for about two hours tossing and turning last night. I finally fell back to sleep and was surprised that I was up again at 6:00. :confused3

Cajunmommy have a safe trip to Texas.

kmores- try this thread to start. It's on the Podcast board and all the people there that have signed up. Winotracy on there is the Dreams Unlimited travel agent that handles the cruises. She's been answering questions.
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1683088

Sheryl- I'd suggest emailing Tracy too- tracy@dreamsunlimitedtravel.com . She's been great.

That or emailing Kevin directly at kevin@dreamsunlimitedtravel.com. His mom's in a wheelchair and is usually more "aware" as far as the mobility stuff goes than the rest of us.

We're in a cat 6 with verandah and with the transfers (no air) and everything it's $2400 for 4 nights. I would have went for a lesser cat but Rick would fell scrunched I'm sure, so I figured give him a good room for the first cruise and convince him to go back then switch to a lesser cat on the next.:rolleyes1

But, I'm scrimping and saving for this one. My pennies have never screamed so much from being stretched.:sad2:

pirate:

Kmores- pm me any questions I might know the answer. If not, I'll help you find out- that way we both know!

Lori
