I think there are plenty of examples of Disney charging for things that were once included, but I'm not aware of any examples of Disney intentionally making something bad to get guests to select a paid option. Feel free to share if you have any.

That is an example of Disney charging for something that was once included possibly, but they didn't break EMH and make it bad so you would want the $ alternative instead. It's not like they took away the rides being offered or said you can ride but while you ride we are going to have the lights on and be cleaning. They didn't intentionally make the EMH experience bad so you would pay for something better, which is what some people are suggesting is going on here.
