Does anyone on the May 12 Wonder want to get together for a little DIS meet? Perhaps on the Deck 7 "secret" aft area, in one of the clubs, or by one of the pools? It would be great to meet everyone!

Shari

 by me! Just settle on a where/when. Anybody else going down early? Will be there to see the Magic sail for the Western Inaugural.

I don't think I'll be at the port for the Western Inaugural launch. Not sure. I'll be in Daytona Beach most of the month (have a home there) but plan to spend most of my time in the Orlando area as usual, making several visits to all the theme parks. In addition to everything Disney, I am a roller coaster/wild ride fanatic. I also frequent Medieval Times. Anyone have similar plans?

Anyway, as soon as we hear from some more people on our cruise, we can decide when/where to meet.

C'mon now - There MUST be others on the May 12 willing to meet ;-).

Really! C'mon people, not everyone is going on the Western are they? :) Sofar a meeting of 3, 2 of which are married to each other (wdwlvr and I) is a little on the small side.

You're SO right! I know of at least 12 DISers (not counting spouses/kids) who are on our cruise. I know we'd have at least enough to fill up the secret aft balcony on Deck 7! This isn't a long-term commitment, folks. Just thought it would be nice to meet other DISers. Ah, well. Maybe we can ask again in a couple of weeks if we don't hear from anyone else . . .

My group of 4 will be on the Wonder on the 12th. We would love to meet other DISers. Where is this special place on the 7th deck? Let's get this gathering going!!

Great! The "big balcony" that's not-so-secret anymore is at the very aft end of Deck 7. Just go as far aft as possible on that deck, and you'll come to a closed door that, if I recall correctly, is unmarked. Walk through that door and you're on the "secret aft verandah" of Deck 7. It's not a huge area but there are lounge chairs and it's usually pretty empty (unless DISers fill it up!) because few people know about it. On the map in the brochure, it appears as an empty spot and is unlabeled. However, people up at Beach Blanket Buffet's outside seating area can go to the rail and look down on it, but most people never figure out how to get there.

That's a great area and real close to our room. Only problem we've found is that it is sometimes locked and other times filled with teenagers from Common Grounds. Since it is a bit early in the cruise to be filled with teens that shouldn't be a problem, but I think maybe having a back-up location wouldn't be a bad idea.

If it is open that would be a great place to meet since it won't be overrun with people...kind of like our own little party.

That's what I was thinking. It never seemed to be locked (except at night) or occupied in January, but I'm sure it could happen this time around. It's close to my room also (7628). Do you want to pick an alternate, WDLVR? I trust your judgement on this. And when do you think would be the best time?

That is the question -- When ? This is my first cruise so I do not know what to expect as far as activity. Seems like Monday will be very busy for my party in that we are going to the Atlantis and plan to spend just about the whole day there! Probably won't even come back to the ship until around 9-10pm if that is possible. Is Sunday night too soon? Or else Tuesday after the early dinner?

Well we've got a couple of different options for both when and where. I really like the idea of the deck 7 aft area as it will probably be the most quiet and "exclusive" meaning we can really talk to each other.

I think Sunday would be the best day to meet as that's when things really get started. As Nancy pointed out Monday is bad because we probably all have our own plans (DH and I are heading to Atlantis too). Tuesday at Castaway Cay is hard because of the fun there don't want to be too structured. The next best day would be Wednesday which is the Sea day. A great day to meet, but kind of late in the game.

So let's start with Sunday as a base - do we want to do sailaway togeher by meeting after the drill? Would be fine for us - we're going to try and get Mickey Mitts to wave goodbye to folks on shore (and to wave at the 5/11 Magic as it leaves on Saturday).

Since this is Nancy's first cruise I don't know if they want to miss what is happening up on deck 9 (with all the characters). Which brings me to another option for meeting place if Deck 7 is locked. When we left on our first cruise we found a spot up on Deck 10 above the adult pool where we could see the horns (my DH - MarkRG) wanted to video tape the horns. It was a great location, not too crowded - got a great wave file (I'll let him post the link to it I don't know how) and got some great views pulling out of port. We weren't part of the offical "sail away" party, but we didn't have the crowds they did either.

Sunday night is another option but I think we are on different dining rotations. We've got early, but I think taswira is late. Do we have enough overlap to meet in between without rushing anyone.

Another suggestion would be to meet before the drill say 3 pm or so. Again either on Deck 7 or Deck 10.

Well I rambled on way too long. See what happens when you ask for suggestions :) .

What do you guys think about times and places?

Sounds good. And you're right, Mary, I do have late dinner seating. I think meeting at 3pm on Sunday before the drill would probably work fine for most people. As you said, we can try for Deck 7 aft first, and if it's locked head for Deck 10. Is everyone going to have a lime green ribbon visible somewhere so we can spot each other easily? I'm going to put one on my camera bag or purse.

Shari

Shari,

Sounds like a plan! Hope the others that are cruising that day can join us. We don't have lime green ribbons, but do have lime green surf savers (the plastic card holders you wear around your neck). Got them at a company part last year. DH - Mark is going to put the DIS logo on them with clear labels so we should be easy to find.

I think we should bump up the topic as we get closer to the sail date as a reminder to others. I know there are about 5-6 more groups sailing that day.

Mary

PS - just noticed yesterday the Disney courses you took and visited your web page. Cool!

Actually Mary, I don't have a lime green ribbon yet either, but plan to get one somewhere prior to the cruise. If not, like you I will have SOMETHING lime green, and I will be wearing a DCL lanyard for my KTTW card and a few pins.

Regarding the Disney courses, they're great fun! I was going to post a photo of me wearing the mouse ears "graduation hat" from College of Disney Knowledge, but it's a bit small and I've yet to get a good shot without my head looking really big. (Did I just infer that I have a big head?).

And let's do bump this up often, since some people never get past the first couple of pages.

Shari

3pm on Sunday sounds fine to me! I understand where the location on deck 7 is -- I checked the map and can see the "blank" area. However, if it is locked, what is the alternate location on deck 10? Remember, I have not been on the ship before, so please be descriptive. It will be me, my DD of 7, my friend Billye, and her DD of 8. We have lime green ribbons to wear.

Deck 10 is the top deck of the ship. the location suggested (above the adult pool) is a very nice to meet up as well.

Anyone sailing May 12 on the Wonder who would like to join our "DIS meet" at 3pm Sunday on the "secret aft area" of Deck 7 or (if that door is locked) on Deck 10 above the adult pool, PLEASE post here to let us know, even if you already posted on the other May 12 thread. We'd really appreciate it as we'd like to know how many DISers to expect. Thanks!

Here's a bump. May 12th cruisers come join the fun. There were lots of groups on the old thread. Here's hoping some more sign on as we get closer to the date!

Looks like it could end up being a really small DIS meet. At least we tried.
