Can anyone tell me anything about the Mark Two Dinner Theatre?
Was the show good...food?

If you've ever been to a dinner theater before, you probably have a good idea of what to expect. INOW, Mark Two is pretty average for a dinner theater.

Mark Two is a "true" dinner theater. That is, it's not like the "dinner attractions" such as Arabian Nights and Medieval Times. It puts on Broadway musicals, with the occasional sex farce thrown in for good measure. The current offering is the musical "Sugar Babies."

The theater is an "Equity house" which means the actors are members of the professional actors union. The show quality is pretty good, but not up to Braodway standards. The food is also pretty good (for this kind of thing) and is plentiful. If memory serves, they charge extra for deserts, which are not bad at all.

Hope this helps.

Kelly described this pretty well!! Dinner is a buffet in the middle of the room before the actual show begins, and dessert, as well as alcohol I believe are extra. We saw the show "No Sex Please, We're British" and thought it was very funny, and well put on. I don't think that dinner theaters have the best food to begin with, but then you are mainly paying admission to the show anyways, and getting fed is just extra!! The food wasn't terrible, just not special.

Kelly & Disney,

Thank you very much for your help. I was hoping it was a cut above the rest of the other dinner theatre attractions. We have seen them all and were hoping for something different.

Is the "sex" stuff too much for a 17yr old and a 20yr old? I mean is mom & dad gonna blush along with the children? LOL
Thanks again.

Ummmm....Hate to break it to you, but unless you have incredibly naive 17 and 20 year olds, they will not blush at sex jokes. I mean at 17 you are allowed to see an R-rated movie by yourself, so I doubt that any thing in one of these shows will disturb them too much. You won't see any full body nudity or anything if that is what you are wondering. It is all more humorous than explicit.

I just took a look at their upcoming schedule and I don't know when you plan to go, but the current show playing through the beginning of Jan. called Sugar Babies (never actually heard of this...) seems to be the most outrageous thing they have all year. The next show, "The Sunshine Boys" looks like it might be very funny. Everything else (Fiddler on the Roof, Kiss Me Kate, My Fair Lady, The Music Man....) all look pretty tame.

Also you can always look at their website for the menu for the currently playing show.

If you're looking for something different in the theater department, why not try one of Orlando's "real" theaters?

The Orlando Shakespeare Festival is excellent. Currently they have the Bard's "Winters Tale" (through Dec 22). Next is Moliere's "Tartuffe." A good way to introduce the kids to "high art.";)

No dinner served, but there's a great Tuscan restaurant (Brio) just up the road in Winter Park (and a Krispy Kreme, too, which often has hot doughnuts after the show!).

There are other good theaters as well. Check the Orlando Sentinel on Friday if you can. The daily paper has a section on what'slaying that day.

The SAK Comedy Theater Lab has PG-rated improiv comedy.
