I love all kinds of meatloaf. Some are better than others but one of my fondest restaurant memories was getting meatloaf and mashed potatoes at a cafeteria in Yellowstone with seating that faced Old Faithful. It was cold outside, light snow, but I was warm by the fireplace with a phenomenal view and a great plate of comfort food.

I make a few varieties. One year, I made an Italian meatloaf around the holidays. Instead of a loaf pan, I used a Bundt cake pan and made a meat-wreath 😊

I love this!
I never thought about using my bundt pan.
Great idea!!!

Meatloaf is a multi-tasker!

It's great hot out of the oven with mashed potatoes and a veggie of choice.

It is great warmed up as left overs.

It is the best when used cold in a sandwich for lunch.

It's the perfect food.

Yes, I know, it's probably not the worlds healthiest food, but we are all going to die someday and I'd hate to think that I had done without meatloaf all my life just to gain a couple months in the end.

I like meatloaf, maybe love a few. Marie makes a great one, as did my mom. I'll get it in a restaurant once in a while. A few of the local mom and pop diners make some good ones. Costco's in house created one, two loaves, with mashed potatoes, is very good.

As always, Sandy, thanks for another great, creative, informative week of @slo polls.

I love meatloaf. Homemade is best, but I will order it in a restaurant if the mood strikes me, especially in summer when I don't want to heat up the house cooking it. Restaurant meatloaf is hit or miss, I've mostly had good ones (especially at 50s Prime Time Cafe!), but sometimes it can be too salty for my taste.

Primetime does have a good meatloaf - though it's been years since I've had it.

Our little cafe at the office makes a good meatloaf. They have a rotating hot-meal every day, but the meatloaf is one of the better options when it comes up.

I make it with ground turkey meat and it's the only kind that we like to eat.

My friends always do a "friendsgiving" where we "Thanksgiving Burgers" but the patty is essentially meatloaf made with ground turkey and a stuffing mix for the bread component - that comes out good! We do top with a mashed potato/gravy mixture and cranberry relish of course!

I am a fan, of the meal and the singer! One time in school they had a poster up in the cafeteria about Meatloaf coming for a concert. It was right before Bat out of Hell exploded, so we didn’t know who he was. Instead we all joked about whether that was the cafeteria menu or an act.

As far as the food version goes, some I love, and some not so much. I like it enough that I have ordered it out, but don’t recall ever having one that I loved in a restaurant. One poor example at one place does stick in my mind, and is all I think of when I pass that restaurant. But even being homemade is not a guarantee that I will love it. Despite loving it, I don’t have it regularly anymore, and it has been quite a while since I have had meatloaf.

It’s up in The DIS cloud somewhere - LOL!
Thank you for trying 🙂
It was on the What's for Dinner tonight thread

A-1derful Meatlaof

1 1/2 pounds ground beef
1/2 cup dry bread crumbs
1/3 cup finely minced onion
1/3 cup chopped green bell pepper
8 ounces tomato sauce
3 tablespoons A-1® Steak Sauce
1 egg
1 teaspoon garlic salt
3/4 teaspoon oregano
3/4 teaspoon basil
1/4 cup provolone OR jack cheese, shredded

Combine all ingredients except cheese.
Lightly pack in a 9x5" loaf pan.
Bake at 350 degrees for 50 minutes. Drain. Top with cheese.
Bake 5 minutes. Let set for 5 minutes.

Note: I do use oatmeal for the binder.

I love meatloaf. when I make it I Over make it-i make a standard sized for dinner/leftovers but I make enough to make several small (love the reusable metal pans they are selling at dollar store these days) to bake/freeze for quick meals/sandwich cravings.

mine is an old-school recipie but when my kids were younger I did an alternate version as well. my youngest is on the spectrum and is fairly picky about what he eats but LOVES Italian food-esp. meatballs. I just took the meatloaf recipie and changed out the spices for the meatball spices, topped with marinara instead of catsup. it's known as 'meatball loaf' in our house (soooooo many sandwiches for school were made from these).
