Is it worth purchasing the magic bands for our family of 5 for our upcoming visit? I'm used to holding on to the plastic card tickets. What do you think? We'll be there for 10 days.

Yes. It was worth it for us, as a group of 5 adults, 1 Disney Adult, and a preschooler, to be able to split up and not worry about who had who's tickets, lanyard, whatever.

I say yes, last trip we saw 2 people trying to find their ticket to get their FP and in SM while we were getting out of the ride. I saw a ticket fall out of someones pocket. I think tickets are to easy to loose.

We leave in a week and are also staying off-site. We purchased Magicbands so that we wouldn't have to keep up with park tickets and so that any ride pictures would automatically load onto our memory maker account

Thanks, I'm going to get them. Where do I get them? Can they be ordered online before we go?

Can you take them on and off during your trip or are they like a fair ride bracelet and once they're on they're on until you cut them off?

We just got back from using the magic bands for the 1st time.
You can take them off and on; shower with them; go in the pool. they're very versatile and so much easier than having to dig for tickets etc etc,:cheer2:

I'd say go for it they're great and come in colors and you can personalized them with any name you choose which they put inside the bracelet

Hope this helps:goodvibes

Just back and though we stayed off-site, I'm glad we purchased the magic bands...we never had to find our park tickets or memory maker card since we had the magic bands on our wrist, and since we had ordered memory maker, it was neat to have all the ride photo's/video's "magically" load onto our account and not have to go find our pictures at the end of each ride

I have to say that we absolutely LOVE the convenience of MBs!! We get free ones with our onsite stay, but have still paid for some "special" ones... Frozen, haunted mansion, runDisney... We have fun with them. :)

how about for an offsite people and we are doing only 1 day in MK... less useful or not bother?

Just butting in here but we are staying in the Swan in September and I'm not sure about how the photo thing works. Is it something we add on at a cost and also, how to the FP+ work if we aren't staying in a Disney Hotel? :thumbsup2

The bands can break and fall off.

I cannot even imagine wanting to put money down for a MB. I'm a ticket-in-a-lanyard person.

Memory Maker for digital download of all photos is an add-on. If you have a MagicBand, photos will load to your MDE even without Memory Maker. You do need a MB if you want all the benefits of MM.

FP booking is available at 60 days prior to your arrival because Swan is considered an onsite hotel. Read mesaboy2's FP thread.

If you have a mydisneyexperience logon, you will be able to see and purchase any of your photopass and/or ride pictures that are uploaded to your account, but unless you purchase a photo package, you won't be able to download them to your computer to print/use as you like. We pre-ordered our memory maker package for $150 and when we got home, after we did edits and borders, etc to all our pictures, we had over a couple hundred nice photopass pics, ride pics and ride videos. If you purchased just a few pictures individually from your trip, you'd very quickly reach or exceed that price.

With FP+, if you are staying off-site, but have purchased park tickets already, you can link your tickets to your my Disney experience account and you can schedule all your fast passes for up to 30 days from each day of your trip. We had no issues scheduling everything we wanted, and easily made changes up until and during our trip.

I was worried about this too, but the bands are pretty sturdy andI know mine got bumped and jostled around all week lifting my husband in and out of the car and rides, but it never once fell off, felt flimsy or even felt like it might break. For only $13, it was nice not having to worry about a card ticket, but, it's not for everyone, which is why they still have the cards for now

And that was your experience, but the tab things have broken off and fallen off of others. I've never lost a ticket, but others have.

They say the battery last two to three years max. Just so you know it's not a long term investment for you. It's possible that you will be purchasing new bands in two years.
