STILL SNOWING............. REALLY HARD!

19.gif

We're supposed to get another 8-10 here today. This weather is really messing with my last minute things to do. Thankfully, I got up and out by 8am and was home by 11 when it really started to become white-out conditions. I'm going to be really bummed if school is cancelled tomorrow! Anyway, I'm making the most of my time in indoors: wrote out my xmas cards; baked and decorated two bathes of cookies; and made 3 dz.choc.covered pretzels. I'll try to start wrapping today - that's is, in between my trips outside to shovel!

OMG again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Stay safe and warm girls. I am getting things done. Not as much as I have to get done but it's OK. In 2009 I will be here so much you guys will be sick of me!!

okay finally on a real keyboard. Tammie- as I was reading about your drive my hands were sweating. I get really freaked out when it comes to bad weather and cars.

Cammie more snow? I think you will have more than me!

I am wrapping presents right now while Tim has the girls out of the house. Cards are slated to be done this afternoon. Who knows you all may get New Years cards instead of Xmas cards.

Gotta run--I am going to get these presents wrapped. School is out for the next 2 weeks and I will have my girlfriends kids most of the days. My DIS time will be limited.

I am officially in a pissy mood! The snow won't stop and I have to go out again and shovel! I am home alone so there is no one to help me; and the ex is bringing Amanda back by 8 so I need the walkway cleared by then. On top of that, her nurse has already cancelled for tonite, which means not only will I probably be up half the night but will have to be up by 5 am to get her ready for school. Now I'm hoping school is cancelled!

On top of that, I'm making all of these freakin' cookies for teacher's gifts - who knows if they'll even get them now?

I seriously cannot even believe it HAS NOT STOPPED SNOWING!!!!

Wish I could send someone over with a snow thrower, take care shoveling the snow. Just remember you can only do one thing at a time, so don't stress out too much.

School is cancelled here in Lynn they just can't keep up with it I haven't seen a plow in hours and the Car is covered again Mike is sick so I will go out before bed and attempt to uncover the car.

Be careful and have the EX help you with some of it when he gets there.

Good Morning It is still snowing here like crazy we are suppose to get another 6 inches today and then it is going to ice over tonight.

I love it because it is so pretty and I don't have to go out in it. Our street hasn't been touched and it looks like a winter wonderland.

Tammie- So scary driving in all of that mess. I am glad you are all safe.

Kara- I hope you are driving safe and will check on you later.

Cammie- How are things at your house?

Debbie- Getting things done?

It was very scarey. Hope you are staying warm! :santa:

You win for the most snow!!!! It snowed again tonight a couple of inches. We have storm warnings again until tomorrow night. Good day to get the baking done.

Sometimes the snow and ice can make you so helpless. Our driver did a great job. I was thinking about New Year's cards, also! I'll probably just do the email ones.

I'm sorry Cammie. You have alot on your shoulders. I hope it stops snowing so you can get a break!

I freaked out the other night and made everyone feel bad. I came back from a 4 hr trip to take my dad to the doctor's appts, and the house was a total mess, and the sink was piled up with dishes, and I needed to babysit for the evening. I just lost it. Later on, I realized how lucky I am to have my dad, and to be able to rock those babies. I felt like such a jerk. Everyone has been helping me get it together the past couple of days, though. Maybe it was worth it! :thumbsup2

On a happier note the trip will be paid off on tuesday:cool1:

WHOO HOO! :woohoo:

Today, I got up early and baked 2 kinds of cookies, and mixed up sugar cookie dough. Jim cleaned up and I went to an operetta with my mom. "Amahl and the Night Visitors." Pretty good actually, local talent. I had never been to an opera before. It wasn't my favorite really, but I did enjoy it.

I came home and baked the sugar cookies with Myles and Lindsay and made 2 more kinds of cookies, cleaned up the huge mess I made, and had a glass of wine.

I feel really good about my progress. I have a few more gifts to wrap, I need an exchange gift for our Christmas Eve with Jim's family, and some Bunco prizes for that. We get together and have dinner and play 2 games of Bunco and then do a gift exchange game - everyone brings one gift. It is really fun and we don't have to buy a bazillion gifts!:thumbsup2

I bought Jim a new cell phone for Christmas, but it was the wrong brand so I have to send it back to Best Buy. He may only get the GPS after all.
Tomorrow I have Mr. Mason, and I'm going to wrap gifts and shop later, then clean on Tuesday.

Here's my favorite Christmas morning brunch recipe This is done the night before, so all you do is turn the oven on in the am:

Cinnamon Pullaparts

1 bag (24) frozen bread rolls
1 box butterscotch pudding (not instant)
1 stick butter
1/2 C. Brown Sugar
2 tsp Cinnamon
1/2 C. chopped pecans or walnuts

In a large Bundt cake pan, sprinkle brown sugar and nuts. Place the rolls evenly around the pan. Sprinkle cinnamon around the pan. Sprinkle the pudding mix around on top of the rolls. Melt the butter and pour it over the rolls. Place it in a cold oven overnight, with a cookie sheet under the pan.

In the morning, bake at 350 for 30 min. until golden brown. Turn upside down on a plate.

There you have it! Warm, ooey, gooey goodness with no effort at all!

Happy Monday everyone! Kara, where are you today??? Hope your trip went well!

Okay, I just have to say it: We are FREEZING and the travel channel is playing shows about ALASKA! Get a grip - we want to see beaches and WDW!!!!!

Oh, Cammie and Debbie, I saw your "boys" on Extreme Home Makeover tonight. Very Sweet.

Hope you have a great day planned, but sounds like it will be indoors!

I'm in OHio - got in yesterday early AM - looks like y'all have a LOT of snow!

We had some high winds driving through the mtns and that was a little tricky at times, but just a dusting of snow here. VERY cold though! It got down to 1 deg last night with wind chill about -25. Yikes! I'm soooo not used to this.

Congrats Cammie - your Giants took down my Panthers last night. But it was a great game!!! I can handle a loss if they at least play a respectable team and look good doing it.

Today and tomorrow are gonna suck working from my parents house. First of all, it's an old house so you can hear absolutely everything from everywhere in the house. ON top of that, both my parents are hard of hearing but they don't think they are so they talk soooo loud! It just makes me so tense. When I work from home I either need total quiet in the house OR I need a tv on for background noise. But I can't deal with the 3 dogs wrestling, Grandpa trying to whisper which is louder than most people yelling. And they are so restless that they just pace, I swear. And the floors creak and they sound so hollow over the basement that there's an echo when they walk. Drives me insane!!!!

And I've never tasted worse coffee in my life! My dad's coffee makes WDW's taste like I'm in the Blue Mtns of Jamaica.

Oy vey! Now Grandpa's hollering for me to get showered cause I shouldn't work in my pajamas. Guess what? It's subzero temps outside, I'm freezing, I'm working in my jammies until it warms up enough that I feel like taking a shower! It's gonna be a loooooong week!

I didn't realize your kids still had school? When is the last day? Ally went a 1/2 day on Friday and that was it until the Tuesday after New Years.

So Santa stopped by the house last night - very fun, Ally is still totally into it. I"ll post pics later. If I can unclench my teeth enough to plug in my camera to download!

Thanks for the birthday wishes  I really never get to celebrate on my birthday so it doesn't even feel like a birthday.

I am actually going to try and get a hair cut today, We'll see Mike is working a 24 hour shift so I got up at 6am to drive him in so I could have the car I cannot wait until his car is done.
Sounds like you are in the same boat as we are here it is so darn cold and the wind is really whipping not fun. The car was on for 2 hours and there is still blocks of ice stuck to it. UGH

Tammie- You sound busier than me. :scared1:

Oh, Cammie and Debbie, I saw your "boys" on Extreme Home Makeover tonight. Very Sweet.

Aaaah - my boys are quite adorable and kind, aren't they?

Well, you know I'm going to now be an obnoxious and arrogant NY fan, don't you? Soooo.............................

I think I hate you Cammie. However, if both teams continue to win through the playoffs, they will meet again..... and it's VERY difficult to beat a team twice during the season..... so, will there be a rematch? That might be the NFC championship game? Winner goes to the Super Bowl????

Have any of you ever heard of the book, The Elf on the Shelf?

Last night, Santa dropped by - actually, the local fire dept does it every year. You drop off a little wrapped gift for your child along with a little anecdote or something for him to talk to them about. Then he shows up with his elf, and gives a gift to the child, etc.

So he shows up last night, and Ally and her cousins were so excited! They huddled around him in the living room, and he asked Ally if Bucky was behaving himself and if he had gotten big, etc. So cute. I looked at my sister like, "how does he know about Bucky? Is this the REAL Santa????"

Santavisit2.jpg

Santavisit-kids.jpg

Then after Santa left, the kids all went into the family room and there was a book, with a little red elf sitting on top of the lamp shade. So my sister read the book, about an elf sent by Santa to watch the child and report back until Christmas eve. Each night he leaves to go back to the north pole, and then the next day he comes back in a different spot. And you can't touch him, cause that will take away the magic. But if you hear bells, that's him going to and from the north pole.

So here is my sister reading to the kids, and Ally is just watching that elf.

Elfonshelf7.jpg

So this morning, she wakes me about 5am - "Mommy, did you hear that? It's the bells, the elf must be coming back!"

It was 5am, so what did I say? "Aw c'mon, there ain't no stinkin Santa!!!!"

Yeah, right, I did what anyone would have done. "Ally? Are you sure it's not just a new fairy being born?????"

"No! I know it's Santa's bells, cause it sounds different from fairy bells."

Oh really?

So we had to get up and go downstairs to see if the elf was back. Sure enough, he was in a little teacup up on a ledge in the kitchen. Waiting for Ally to get up.

She is buying it all. Hook. Line. Sinker. I love it!

Just for fun....

Ally helping me decorate gingerbread men this year. She did all the buttons and really did a good job!

Adorable pix Kara! But did I miss the post where you mentioned cutting Ally's hair? It looks sooooooo cute! I wish Lauren would get her hair cut to that length - the hair always looks so much bouncier and neater that way.

And, yes, our two teams could meet up again in the playoffs. But beating the same team twice in one year won't be hard for us. We are, afterall, the defending Super Bowl champs and now have home field advantage throughought the playoffs! :snooty:

And if your pansy Carolina football players are as wimpy about the cold weather as you seem to be, they will NOT be happy about playing in East Rutherford, NJ in January!

BRING IT GIRLFRIEND!!!!!!

Hi Girls....
You are such a nice bunch of cheery elves! I start the day out so happy and then feel like Scrooge by the end. We are going to get more snow!!!!! I am sure I am preaching to the choir, right! On one end I am like OMG wouldn't it be so awesome to get snowed in for Christmas Eve and Day and then I paniced and thought what if I get stranded out and we cant get home! Yes, I am still as crazy as ever! Nothing new!

Happy Birthday Jillian!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think you are the youngest one here if that makes you feel good!!!

Kara...great pix and I am happy to read what you are all up too! I love you guys and am glad you are all safe and still getting stuff done.

The Bears HAVE to win against Green Bay tonight or we are out!

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow......................

I guess Mother nature is taking the song VERY literally! Be safe everyone!
