They ate totally fine now. Lasted around 12 hours. I think food poisoning, but who knows!Sounds like norovirus. I hope they’re feeling better soon.

So if my 80 year old parents were there and too violently ill to get on a plane, and I wanted to make the phone calls for them, I can't refer to them as my parents?? I mean come . If I said offspring instead of kids would that irritate u less? I mean come on!Come on
They are not " Kids " They are Adults aged 18 & 21
And thank you! They ate totally fine now. Lasted around 12 hours. I think food poisoning, but who knows!
R u serious? Are u guys parents? What if my 80 year old parents were there and too sick to deal with the phone calls.. I shouldn't call to help them out, And who said I was demanding? I simply asked for the rate. I explained whoI was, and why I was calling. I said I'm calling for my kids who are too ill to deal with this. What would the rate be ? They told me the rate. That was the extent of the phone call. Didn't realize it's a crime to me a mom.I know that's not the point of the thread but I sorta agree with you here. I know how it feels to be confined to a hotel due to food poisoning unfortunately but the OP isn't down there with them and there's no reason why the OP should be calling the hotel demanding this or that, it makes it an awkward conversation to have too over the phone because you're not physically there so like what do you expect the hotel to really be able to do not to mention it's a parent calling on behalf of adults staying at the hotel.
And thank you!

FWIW OP in my situation last year when I had food poisoning I was stuck in a hotel near JFK, when we needed to extend our trip we were going to be charged the nightly room rate of that night (not the room rate we booked), that is a norm
Oh that's terrible. My friend’s daughter got norovirus at Universal last year. Stomach issues so bad that she couldn’t keep down even a sip of water. She ended up hospitalized for two days.
U clearly don't have kids.I know that's not the point of the thread but I sorta agree with you here. Based on your hostile posts to others I expected you to quote mine and was quite prepared for you to do so. You're a new poster here (unless you've been lurking) but try not to get so agitated with everyone's post that you don't agree with. You keep quoting the same people multiple times to say more hostile things. And thank you!

Thx for the insurance tip . They are on my insurance because guess what? They are KIDS! The fact that u are so bothered over me calling them kids is concerning.Based on your hostile posts to others I expected you to quote mine and was quite prepared for you to do so. Your adult children are not the first ones to get sick, it happens to many people including people who are there at a hotel room alone. They have to take care of it themselves there at the hotel. The are old enough by hotel policy to check in and are the individuals the hotel has a reservation with.
The staff at the hotel lobby having someone call saying their relative is sick, etc (regardless of adult child or 80yr parent but really hyperboles don't help here) would present issues because you are not physically there and they are the only ones who are. And your "extent of your phone call" comment isn't what you said in an earlier comment "I called and explained that my kids were there (18 and 21) and both violently ill, so can we please extend another night at the $530 rate we paid. No way were they able to get on a plane in that condition. Besides the 900 , I was told they would have to check out of the room at 11am and wait for a new room at 4pm. Absolutely ridiculous. It's dead of January , I know they have rooms! Thx for the hospitality,"
Glad to hear your adult children are better. For me last year we extended by 1 full day plus as late of a checkout as we could get the following day after that additional day with a late evening flight back home. We did not fly home until more than a day had passed since I had thrown up.
In the future if your adult children's health insurance covers it consider them doing a telehealth appointment. We did one for me and was able to get medication both for anti-nausea and anti-cramping. My first foray into food poisoning back in 2009 ended in a hospital stay for severe dehydration and I did not want to end up that way.
That's as much as I'm going to say and moving on now.
I called and explained that my kids were there (18 and 21) and both violently ill, so can we please extend another night at the $530 rate we paid.

U have issues.
U people are rough. My god. I didn't call the hotel! I misspoke on my post. I called central res that is correct. So what? My kids were calling me in a panic when they had to check out in an hour and get an uber to MCO to fly home back to Jersey! I couldn't think straight because I knew they couldn't fly much less walk to the lobby to buy Imodium! I was trying to find a hotel to move them to who would give them early check in. I knew 407-W-Disney from my years in the travelFYI, you did not call the hotel, you called a call center. There is no way to call Disney hotels directly. Even the front desk button on the room phones goes to a call center. The suggestion for them to go to the front desk directly is because the CMs there have more leeway to assist. The phone CM has no way to know if the situation you described is actually true. It’s not a stretch to think people have tried every trick to scam Disney, including lying about their circumstances. A front desk CM could have seen how sick the guest was & assist if possible.
Also, welcome to the Dis. Attacking long time members is one way to make an initial impression.![]()
You people all need to find better hobbies. This is ridiculous my God.This could be considered a personal attack which is against Dis Board rules & reportable.
Not really. I just wanted to know if there was a stomach bug or if anyone else experienced food poisoning last week . I didn't know that once my kids turned 18 I wasn't allowed to call them kids anymore , and doing so would set off Disney fans.
I see that. I'm getting attacked for calling my 18 and 21-year-old "kids" and how dare I call and ask if they could spend another night for $530 instead of 900 how dare I!! Comical. Simply comical.
To the DIS boards @Mogomom
Glad your kids are feeling better. Parenting threads on here pretty much always have some kind of dramaand lots of advice.
Thank you for understanding. It was fast and furious, but they are fine now!@Mogomom As a parent to DDs who are the same ages as yours, I would have tried to help them also (they have lived abroad and traveled the world; me helping them would not be because they were incapable of helping themselves; it would be because they were too sick to do so). Just as I would have tried to help my DH or any friend or family member who was in the same situation (my DH once got terrible food poisoning from eating fish in Brazil on a work trip, and could not even get out of bed due to severe dehydration; he was able to at least call the front desk for towels and help, but if he had not been able to, I would have called). To me, the ages of the people who are sick is not important. What is important is that someone you care about is violently ill and needs help.
I am a physician and would recommend to others for the future that there are some mobile Urgent Care services that can come to your hotel room to administer IV fluids, nausea medication, anti-diarrheal medication etc. They can also check your vitals (and sometimes labs) to make sure you are not getting so dehydrated that you need to go to the local ER.
Disney hotels are unique in that calls to the “hotel” don’t typically go to CM actually at the hotel. This is frustrating to me as a guest even in normal circumstances. However, you had no way to know policy that unless you are very versed in DLR hotel operations. I would have hoped DLR would have been more understanding, with the checking out of one room and into another being especially disappointing to me. The rate is whatever they think they can charge, as they have the leverage, unfortunately. But still disappointing.
I would have tried to help a loved one in this circumstance, regardless of their age, just from a humanistic standpoint. The same way I would help a neighbor or friend who was too ill to help themselves, regardless of their age.
I hope we can cool the temperature of this thread, and I also am very glad your kiddos are feeling better.
oh wow, that was nice of them! My girls were just way too sick in the moment to walk to the front desk Live and learn I guess! It all worked out in the end. They took an Uber to a new hotel with early 12 o'clock check-in and went straight to the room! and this hotel was very nice and upgraded them to a two room suite so they didn't have to be near each other!!Wow! That is terrible! My brother hurt his foot and they wanted to stay an extra day. I called Disney and they were not helpful at all. Then my sister-in-law stopped at the front desk and they were sooooo accommodating! All-Star Music gave them a hotel room for free and since their meal credit was expiring, they also gave them a free meal voucher for the next day.
So they maybe should have tried the front desk? I think it is up to the manager?
