Little Mermaid ride.

Just got back and have to agree that the ride was a major disappointment. Definite lack of quality, IMO, and little effort to involve the riders in anything more than passive observation of mostly boring scenes. I also agree that Ariel is scary looking, especially when her hair is up in the spiral and she has those googly eyes. Is that the Barbie on crack Ariel :rotfl:?

I also thought the animatronics were seriously lacking.

Overall, I got the impression of Winnie the Pooh under the sea. As you may surmise, I am not a fan of Winnie the Pooh, either. I call it Pooh's Acid Trip, so the Ariel on Crack crack had me snickering.

FWIW I rode LMAUA again this week after riding it a few times in late June. I admit to being a little disappointed in June. However for me the ride improved. Sort of like Nemo subs.

Hmmm...now that's food for thought. I used to be one of those who not only disliked but HATED HMH overlay. After going on it every holiday season for the past several years, I have not only grown to like it but I actually miss it when it isn't up. That is an embarrassing admission considering my vocal disdain for the ride in the past :scared1:. Anyway, here's hoping the same thing happens with LMAUA! I've only been on it once so far so maybe after, oh, 15 or 20 more times of riding, my fondness will grow :lmao:

Funny you say that. We went on Nemo this summer for the first time in years (when it first opened we thought it was ok) and we all liked it better. :)

Nemo Subs has grown on me. It is not a must do for us but I did go on it just Thursday and notice I feel much more positively now than I did in 2007. Heck, what else are they supposed to do with the ride? IMO it is much better than the old sub ride.

:cool2:

I was ahead of my time. Back when the movie Little Mermaid came out I kept saying they should turn the sub ride into a Little Mermaid ride. It could even be sort of annexed into Fantasyland. I don't know why they never did that but I am glad they did something with it. Nemo has grown on me too.
