Ladies and Gentleman this will be the new promotion for 2013,

In regards to the post about $181 dollars and laughing at that person -

This is one thing I still don't understand about the Dis, even if someone thinks it...why post it??? In 'real life' we all have thoughts go through our heads, but don't speak them out loud. Why here do some people feel it is okay to post insulting / demeaning things? :confused3

We too would be happy to save $181 dollars. That money would be well spent elsewhere on our vacation for sure. :)

Funny thing is that I think I am the person who posted about the 181 ... and I actually calledthe deal terrible. I still think it is a terrible deal for a "deal" ... but ... I certainly wouldnt laugh at people excited to save that cash while throwing the price of my trips in their face.

My point was that 181 compared to other potential deals isnt very good and that judging a discount by its % off room equivalent doesnt really help value resort goers because mostof the price of their trip is in tickets and food.

I understood exactly what you were saying. Your post was more of a "this deal is laughable" post not that you were actually laughing at someone who was excited about saving $181.00.

Hi Danny25,
Do you think that there is any chance of anything different (farther out in the year maybe) for Canadian travellers? There seems to have been slightly different deals for Canadians the last couple of years.
Kandy

Hi.
Just wondering if Danny25 saw this question of mine. I would love to know if there is any hints of other types of deals for Canadians.

It doesn't look good for that sort of thing does it? The year the FD dates went for almost a year (selected dates) was amazing.

Ugh! Finally sat down with Danny's spread sheet and compared to my own to discover the discounts.

I was originally booked at ASMusic and switched to ASMovies at the same rate about two weeks ago. Now I see that Movies is not getting a discount, but Music is - of $170 for my 9 night stay.

Or . . . . I could upgrade to a Moderate for $520 for the 9 night stay.

What to do! :confused3

Hi Jennyjinks3. That was just last year wasn't it? I remember reading about FD available to Canadians in August 2011 for travel in August 2012.

Ha! Yes I guess so...we were just at WDW in Sept 2012 and that feels like a lifetime ago. ;)

It would be nice if they were to repeat that one.

That would be sweet, well truthfully it would be sweet to see anything different than the deals we are seeing so far.

I vote Upgrade! But don't listen to me. ;)

Holy Smokes!!! Everyone calm down. Let me explain my point of view more clearly. I wasn't laughing at the person, I was laughing at WDW trying to "earn" my business with $181 "discount" when I'm spending $10k of vacation money in Orlando on a yearly basis.

I guess the difference with me is WDW needs to earn my business by offering me a deal that I consider fair. WDW "rack rate" is not something I will pay. It's grossly overpriced as a whole when you factor everything in. The food prices are laughable compared to other places. Some of you book a package and then hope for a "deal". The ones that can't afford rack rate cancel, some of you can afford and claim to be happy with any kind of discount.

I don't need a "discount" to book a vacation, I need a price that I find fair. If rack rate is fair then no need for a discount. WDW or any other business needs to earn my business with a good product, good service, and a fair price. The FD promo we have booked our last two WDW packages with make it a fair value for us, without that deal I would have went somewhere else. It isn't about what we can afford, because obviously were doing alright taking $10k vacations on a regular basis. We love the WDW product, have always been happy with the service, so if the price is fair they will get most of my vacation money. If the price isn't fair I refuse to compromise my principals.

So I wasn't making fun of the person, but the thought that WDW would think $181 would earn "my" business. If my vacation cost $1800 than $181 is a bigger deal, but there are obviously other nice vacation destinations that will offer me a lot more than that to get $10k of my money. Like I said the FD promo for the 3 of us over 14 nights worked out to about $2300-$2500 when we added the bills up. That factored into the overall cost of the package made it a good deal.

If the speadsheet room prices includes tax AND a discount ~~ then I only save $166 on a $3100 trip (room and park tickets)! :sad1:

I originally thought that the room rates in the spredsheet were rack rates without discounts.....but after reading more of the thread it seems those room rates are the discounted rates!

Nevermind...just having some difficulty reading the chart for my trip April 18th-23rd

I saw the post on Facebook from Mousesavers but there is not update to the Disney Rewards website??

I understand what you meant. Basically that a 1.8% discount on a $10,000 trip is really insignificant in comparison with previous deals. I so agree!

Woohoo!! Called and got the deal this morning with a Disney Visa, saved $1200 on our 8 night YC stay for April!!! I know not all the resorts were showing a good discount, but we sure got lucky :) Now I am anxiously awaiting the confirmation email so I can see it in writing and convince myself I didn't hear it wrong, ha!
