I was having issues with things not sticking to my ds's overalls. Ummmm, I think I was frying the Heat and Bond. I misplaced the directions and was ironing on high for 30 seconds (maybe more?). I just found the direction. OOOPS!!! They say iron on silk setting for 5 to 6 seconds. Guess I just smoked all the sticky off!!! Works a ton better now that I'm doing it the right way.

I feel like a moron!

Don't feel bad, I did that too a time or two when I first started doing applique. I'm very aware now to have the iron on the right setting and don't leave it in place for long when I iron before I'm ready to fuse it to the base fabric/garment. I still find that sometimes it just doesn't want to stick to denim in some areas. I've also noticed that certain fabric I use for the applique is more prone to not sticking than others. I figure as long as it holds long enough to get the stitching is complete, it's done it's job. LOL

So, speaking of applique... here's a little proof that I really was busy when I wasn't posting here for so long. LOL

I really need to get some pics of Zoe to share soon, too. ;-)

I hadn't sewn anything in a month and it was killing me. I had a few outfits in mind, but needed fabric and I haven't been able to go to the store. So, I just decided to make something with the fabric I already had. So, here's a Belle-ish outfit I just whipped up in a matter of minutes (okay, over the course of 1.5 days). I used the YCMT portrait peasant dress pattern and modified it for a shirt. Then, I made my own pattern for the jumper and apron.

She thought I should add this one, too. This is her favorite "model pose":

Okay, now I need to catch up on the last day and a half.

I love the dress. The blue make Tessa's beautiful eyes pop!

I am pulling my valentine fabric out of the washer right now, I got the middle one and two others. Kept looking at the top one, but couldn't decide. I love it in the picture. And I didn't see the puppy dog fabric, that is adorable! I might go looking for that, I have the idea already in my head for the outfit!

What is up with the boards lately and the double posts? It seems to be doing it all the time!

I love that you're doing a mommy/daughter Disney trip!! How sweet! The outfits are all so adorable! Tessa has been bugging me for a Mary Poppins outfit and she was ooh-ing and aah-ing over yours!

I lost the multi-quote, but I just wanted to say these are some adorable boys!

Oh, what a precious little girl!! She's beautiful!! Congratulations!!!!

My daughter goes to a public school, and recently the teacher asked me to only dress my DD in "regular" clothes. Not custom stuff. I was very upset. The teacher said that my dd gets too much attention when she wears boutique style clothes. I told her too bad!! She isn't dressed over the top. She has never worn a petti to school or huge hairbows. Just jean outfits with cute tops, the most outrageous thing she's worn is a fur cuffed tee. I told her as long as she isn't breaking the dress code, she will wear whatever I want her to wear.
Wow!! That's the weirdest thing I've ever heard!

Guess what just arrived! My new embroidery machine! WOO HOO!
I can't wait to get it out and play!
:woohoo: Let us know how you like it!

Here's why I've been away... and the reason I have been stocking up on Disney fabric since finding this board... my little princess is a week old today!

Okay, my kids (feeling much better thank you) are giving me a moment on the computer while Webkinz' website is down AGAIN (their server must be worse than ours!)

She is gorgeous! And so smart already, holding that binky in :rotfl: I just helped my friend make a minnie dot twirl skirt for her 6-month-old. It was so cute and tiny!

I've only been sewing since summer and was wondering if anyone remebers any Easter Disney fabric that was out last year? If so, where could I start looking for it?

I swear I saw some somewhere a while ago--I think it was hancocks.com and I'm pretty sure it was Pooh bear.

I married my high school sweet heart too. Thankfully, my husband didn't! I graduated in 1987 (he graduated from the same HS in 78) and we were married in 1988. Corey came along in 92, Arminda in 98 and Lydia in 02. (hehe just thought I'd jump on the high school sweetheart bandwagon going on here! )

Add me to the "married my high school sweetheart" club! (I'm alredy one of the cool kids in the Class of 1987 club). We started dating when we were 16. We've been married for 16 1/2 years and together for 22!

Thank you all for the nice comments on Miss. Katie in her tutu:) She has about 10 tutu's now and wants to wear one everyday! When I get her dressed she puts her hands up (like she is confused) and says, "where’s my tutu". She has a scarlet and gray "OSU buckeye" tutu that her daddy just loves her in.

I think I bought the pillowcase everyone is using for the Cindy dress. Is it a pink pillowcase with all of the princesses on one side? I can not see the other side so I am hoping it has Cinderella on it. Thanks for listening to me ramble :)

I love seeing pictures of Katie, she is gorgeous! And yes, that would be the famous Wal-Mart pillowcase. I need to figure out something fun to do with the other 3 princesses.

The book was her idea and I think it was a good one!:

These are so gorgeous Lisa! I've missed seeing all of the amazing stuff you come up with!

Okay, back to laundry and the abandoned hobby of scrapbooking. I haven't done any since I started sewing but every year I make scrapbook pages of each kid's year for the Grandparents and they fly out on Tuesday so I've got to get something done before then! Hopefully I will eventually get DD2 to model her Valentine's rumba dress and her Nemo stripwork jumper for some photos. I like how both turned out!

Love your fabrics! I wish my super Wal-Mart would get some cute stuff in--that way I can sneak it in with the groceries. DH is none to happy with my fabric expenditures lately :confused3

Add me to the "Married my Highschool Sweetheart Club". In HS...1988 grad..., I had the boofy hair and he had the mullet. And it was a gorgeous mullet too! Naturally curly black hair, mustache and dark green eyes to go with. Ooh!

Edited to stay on topic: Has anybody noticed that Voldy is strangely quiet? I expected gobs of Valentine clothes to Case or Cab right after New Year's Eve.

We were HS sweethearts too!! Graduated in 98', married in 99'-ds 1/04 and dd 7/06

I also married my high school sweetheart. We met when we were 15 years old and have been together ever since (17 1/2 years). I've advertised the story of how we met before, but here it is again: http://www.geocities.com/heaths32/heathermethenry.html

The other day, Lydia insisted on wearing a Dora leotard and leopard print shoes all over town, with a pink sweater and a purple fur shawl over top. Personally, I thought she looked adorable! She doesn't even take dance class, but she sure would love to!
I'm sure she did look adorable!! A little eccentric, but adorable!!

Oh, I am sorry, I truly did not mean to offend anyone. I am talking about kids that, at least from a teacher's standpoint, obviosly NOT taken care of. Not just hair brushing. I was just using that as an example. I was also meaning when they get to school. Goodness knows, my DD6 is a walking dirt magnet. She may go to school looking great, but coming home is another matter!:lmao: And, of course, I don't know what kind of battles the parent is facing--example kid throwing a fit wanting to pick out their own outfit, and parent choosing to pick their battles. I mean kids that you can tell their parents don't give a care to what the kid is doing or wearing. If they are clean or not. I was just saying, jealousy is a part of life at school, a bad part, yes, but a part. Why should a child be punished if they look nice and wear nice clothes? That is all I meant. I truly did not mean for my opinion to offend anyone. And I do know what they say about opinions.................:goodvibes

Am I forgiven??????

I'm not offended! There are people who send their kids off without a care as to what they look like! They are in my family! My SIL and brother don't care if their kids are clean (either their bodies or their clothes), or if their hair is brushed. It drives me crazy!! We try and try and try to get them to take more care with the girls' appearance (and smell), but it does no good.

OH HEATHER!!!! That is FANTASTIC!!!!! I really really really LOVE it!!!!! The book pose is my favorite!!! Give my Tessa Belle a great big hug and kiss from her Aunt Teresa!!!!
I gave her a big hug and kiss and told her it was from Aunt Teresa to her Tessa Belle. She got a HUGE smile on her face!

Sawyer would love something made out of that dog fabric. He LOVES dogs right now!

Hey, thanks for showing up my Belle outfit! :rotfl2: These are my favorites, but all of your work is great! You do need to get some pictures of Zoe on here!

OMG how cute! She's so smart, I love this pic. I need to make a blue Belle dress, but have no idea where to start.
Are you looking to make a dress that looks like Belle or a Belle inspired dress?

I just helped my friend make a minnie dot twirl skirt for her 6-month-old. It was so cute and tiny!

Gorgeous Belle dress! And I love this photo the best. Tell Tessa that was a great idea!

A 6 month old in a Minnie dot twirl skirt!? How CUTE that would be!!!

I told Tessa you liked her idea and I think her chest puffed out 3 sizes.

I was going to leave this alone, but I need to post a defense of the "unbrushed" haired little girls.

I brush my DDs hair every morning and every night after her bath. Unfortunately she inherited my super fine hair, and she is a rough and tumble little thing.

Every morning, she gets on the bus with beautifully brushed hair, usually in a braid or pony tail, wearing a clean and impeccable outfit. Many of her clothes are hand-made "uniform" jumpers (It is public school uniforms, so I have leeway, as long as her jumpers are the right color).

Every afternoon, Huckleberry Finn-ette gets off of that bus. her hair is a rats nest, and NEVER still up, her clothes are a mess, her tights are stained and/or ripped, etc.

When she is with me, I see how quickly her hair gets in disarray. SHe will rubt he back of her head on the car-seat and get a huge rats nest that looks like I never brush her hair. I was even spoken to by the school social worker about her hair :scared1: . Fortunately DD was with me. I brushed DDs hair IN FRONT OF THE social worker, and she went out onto the playground with DH and her brother. Within 15 minutes, her hair was out of its ponytail and looked like I had done NOTHING to it. I got a big fat apology. :thumbsup2

Now, my DD is fastidious about what she wears, and prefers my home-made dresses. I know she's rough on clothes, and I deal with it. Some kids are. My DS would wear jeans or jean shorts ad a tee shrt very day of the year if we let him, ad he can't go two minutes without getting something on himself, either. SOme kids just seem to be walking dirt magnets. PLEASE don't judge how involved parents are based on their kids' appearance, either way.

OK, off of my soapbox.

I have to agree with you on that one. I can fix DD's hair and right after she gets to school and into the classroom her hair is down. I sent her to school one day in particular I made sure her hair was especially pretty. With pretty bows and braids in her pigtails (she was getting pictures taken with Santa that day at her school) Well I knew when I picked her up that she had re-done her hair into one ponytail on the side of her head. What I didn't know until one week later, when the pictures came in, was that DD had done the re-do right when she got to class. So if I see a child who has messy hair or has a little dirt on them it doesn't bother me. What bothers me are the mothers, there is one in particular in the town where I live, who obviously don't take the time to take care of their children. This one mother in particular has four children and they are always dirty. So is she and her husband. They don't even look like they brush their own hair. They are on every form of public assistance there is available in this town and her husband refuses to work. He actually says why should I work if I don't have to. :mad:These are the people who really irritate me. Anyways enough of that.

You all have beautiful children and you make wonderful clothes for your girls and boys and you all have inspired me to start sewing again for my little princess. As soon as I am able to I will start posting pics of what I have made.

Just a quick question do I have to have a certain amount of posts before I can post attachments or do I have to ask for permission to? I'm not very clear about that right now.
